Hello, everyone. So, anyways, I have recently decided to focus on extending my cardmaking work for my current writing project, Days of the Black Apple. In this case, I decided to give you guys a sneak peak at another of the many Japanese-styled cards cards which will be featured in my current writing project, Days of the Black Apple. This card is further support to the Deck which featured Elemental Empress Chiko and Elemental Empress Mizuko.

As always, your comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Elemental Empress Enko

Level 8

Fire

Spellcaster-Type/Effect

ATK 2400 / DEF 2000

You can Special Summon this card from your hand by Tributing 2 FIRE monsters on either side of the field. Each time a Spell Card is activated, gain 800 Life Points. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can select 1 face-up monster on the field and inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK. This card cannot declare an attack during the turn this effect is activated.

Hm, I am a glad you like the picture, I think it's quite beautiful as well. She's got a hefty summoning cost, though. I originally considered making her effect apply only to monsters you control, so that you couldn't hit your opponent for higher damage if they control a Goyo Guardian, etc. Do you think I should change her effect to that? Also, thanks for the high ratings and helpful comments, which I will take into consideration.

I'm agree with Ragnarok :/ maybe put "... and inflict damage to your opponent's Life Points equal half the ATK of the selected monster." and remove the last effect if you do this (obv) and put another kind of drawback. OCG seems very well, I like the effect but it's a bit OP'ed IMO xD, what If you inflict 2500 or something like that to your opponent? you take a good advantage. But still I'm in love of this card ^^ 9.5/10

Half damage seems pretty low for such a high-level monster with such mediocre ATK/DEF scores, don't you think? Also, the fact that all the Empresses skip their attacks after they use their effects is something they have in common; it's intended to be that way. Yeah, it's a powerful effect, but she's one of the more powerful Empresses, and I think it suits her well. Still, thanks very much for the almost perfect rating, and thank you, thank you, thank you for the excellent image!!

it's a common effect huh? well.. I didn't know that. Well yeah, the scores are low but it can be Special Summoned by Tributing 2 monsters... so the level isn't such a big deal, what if you put "Discard 1 Monster Card from your hand, inflict damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to it's ATK." or something like that, you know it's just a suggestion.

Yeah, the effects that they share are the Special Summon mechanic, the Life Point gain mechanic, the once per turn effect mechanic, and the skip attack for that turn mechanic. This is actually one of the more powerful Empresses, though, so I agree with you on that; with Flamvells' current popularity, she could really cause some damage to the opponent. However, her Level is still important, since it largely prevents Synchro Summoning.

She's got a hefty summoning cost

Care to elaborate? xD

Difficult summoning cost, FIRE attribute decks aren't that good anyway and the LP Gain is a useless gimmick.

Still, it's got lovely artwork (hefty summoning cost) and the Burn effect is decent. OCG drifts off slightly in places (THIS CARD'S CONTROLLER gains 800 Life Points, not gain 800 Life Points) but overall this is a highly polished effort and has some good effects (the Japanese text is a nice touch).

All in all, it's good eye candy but it lacks slightly in creativity. Decent enough concept though.

It merits a 7.5/10 at best.

She requires two monsters to be summoned either way. Now, unless your opponent is running a Flamvell Deck, you're pretty much out of luck in most cases. If you had read, the Life Point gain is something all of the Empresses have in common and reflects their Spellcaster-Type nature. Yes, I'm quite fond of the artwork as well, and the burn effect isn't "decent", it's quite powerful. Uh, I'm pretty sure that the OCG is perfect in this card: generally, when an effect applies to both players, it says so; otherwise, it's assumed that it only applies to the card's controller. You seem to be simultaneously critcizing and praising this card, so I'm not exactly certain on how to reply, except that it's a lot more than "good eye candy" and certainly doesn't deserve a 75% rating "at best". But whatever, thanks for the comment, I guess.

The card says FIRE, but the lore says WATER.

I liek the pic. A lot.

OCG is perfect, but I think the burn effect is a bit too much. I would say half the monster's ATK, but then that would probably be 750 - 950 LP loss.

Also, you could just go crazy w/ the LP gain. I would change it to "When your opponent activates a Spell Card".

Okay, I will do my best to address everyone's comments one at a time, in order.

Icy God: Gah, I always forget to do that! Thanks for the correction, high rating, and image compliment! I love the picture as well.

Inferno: Yep, Zeiva is an incredible artist, isn't she? Thanks, I'm really glad the card is to your liking; she's supposed to be useful thematic support!

T3RA: Damn. I can't believe I missed that... I'm grateful to you for pointing it out. And yes, I'm quite in love with the image, too. xD I knew the OCG was perfect, but some fool tried to tell me otherwise... And yeah, if the damage is halved, it's underpowered. Hm, it all depends on the Spell ratios in both player's Decks, I suppose. The idea was to give them some sort of useful effect to make them getting them out worth it, since they're not very likely to stick around.

Junior: Haha, thanks very much! The image really did turn out beautifully. Thanks for the high rating, and yeah, I can see that sort of comparison being drawn between Stardust Dragon and Elemental Empress Mizuko.
