I got my 2010 US Nationals Invite

So I got off work last night at 11pm, and had to wake up at 5am to make the drive to Cottleville, I was joined by 2 of My teammates [The Knights of the card table](Brian and Jason) along with our newest teamate as of AFTER the tournament was finished (Joey) The ride up there was a L...O...N...G 3 hour drive due to being kinda tired, I found out that Brian didn't go to sleep till 3am, Jason, till a little after midnight and Joey hadn't slept at all... so yay I had the most sleep and get to drive... On the way down Jason is still deciding on what he wants to run. I eventually talk him into Machinatown, sense I was running Gadget Force I figured 2 different Machina decks had a good chance of making it. Brian was running Joe's (the cloaked duelist) Heroic Assault, and a few states ofer in Nashville Steven was running the same. We Finnaly get to the college and don't now what building it is in. Long walk short, we parked on the wrong side of campus... I attatch my power glove and we go in. (For those of you wondering http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Glove ) Joe talked me into wearing it sense he always wears his cloak to regionals and above. We register and wait, the tournament started a little late but not much that anyone really cared. I am starting to get a lot of questions about the power glove and complements on how awesome it is, which kinda suprised me. The round one pairings get posted and I go to my seat...

 

 

Round 1 vs Kurt McCarthy (Flamevell Cat)

Great I start out against my WORST matchup!!!!!!!

Game 1 I was able to gain alot of advantage with my gadgets and removal that I squeezed in a game one win some how... wow I might actually have a chance here. I go strait to my side deck and so does he.

 

Game 2 I actualyy drew cards I put in my side deck, this is awesome I thought to myself. I dreww 2 nobleman of crossouts, he didn't set a single monster game 2, flamevell dog worked its magic and we went into game 3

 

Game 3 Fortress Gearframe and limiter removal make for a quick win, yay! I hope I don't see any more of this deck, I don't think I will get this lucky again.

Round 2 vs Thomas Fergus (stlboy pojo user name) (Glad Beast)

 

Game 1 War chariot loop is a good move, nothing I could do. I had ZERO side deck cards that I would have even thought about siding at the time for GB so I just had to press on.

 

Game 2 Nobleman of extermination hit both his pulling the rugs and war chariots and I was able to spam the field quick fast and in a hurry after that, NoE mained decked for the win!

Round 3 vs Ethan Schafer (Blackwing)

Game 1 I start with a first turn cold wave not knowing what he is playing, I summon Gearframe and grab fortress and end my turn. He summons Sirroco and then a bora, pumps and attacks over my gearframe. ends turn, double smashing summon gearframe grab a force, summon fortress limiter for game.

 

Game 2 I activate solemn early and cant come back from it...

 

Game 3 I don't fully remember how but I gained so much card advantage on him, that he couldn't do anything, in a final act of desperation, he activates heavy storm to activate his starlight road. my turn I top a smashing ground to swing for game.

 

Well we break for lunch, I have a couple slices of pizza the just wander around and wait for

Round 4 vs Chris Randall (Lightsworn)

Game 1 and early flood of 2 fortresses and a gear fram allow me to get an easy win

 

I have Zero side deck cards for light sworn so I just press...

Game 2 I Summoned a bunch of monsters in one turn, set a D-Prison and decided to not set my book of moon, end turn he flips the decree he set turn one. JD said hi to me...

 

Game 3 his turn one Gold sarc JD, his turn 2 Gold sarc JD, I stopped attacking his monsters, untill I had no choice, thought he had a ryko face down So I attacked it so I could remove one of the JDs from his hand but it was a bluff... JD said Hi again, along with his brother....JD

Round 5 Paul Cooper (Dragon Fueled Exodia)

Game one I summon a monster and end, his turn he played trade in dropped a blue eyes set a monster and ended, I summoned a couple of fortresses dropped limiter removal for game, o.k. a dragon deck is doing pretty good I thought, I should give him props after this is over with. No side decking, wher shuffled and wenst strait into

 

Game 2 Long turn short he litterally drew his entired deck except for noe card, then played reload to do it again, EXODIA OBLITHERATE Well I had an Idea,

 

Game 3 I side in some divine wraths, and yes before you say anything know I know I could have sided against the GBs and LS but I asn't thinking that during the tourny.. I play everycard in my had or set them except for one monster I end turn, he sets a card after playing trade in looks at his hand, sighs and turns the duel over to me, I hear "during your draw phase" Iand breath a sigh of realef he activated had destruction, now that I had a clear shot I limiter and say GG

Round 6 vs Joshua Johnson (Glad Beasts)

Game one I raped him with my swarm of fortresses and gadgets, my removal took care of anything he tried is was the perfect hand against his without being a god hand.

 

Game 2 he sides I dont. I first turn plays dimmensional fissure and ends his turn, I go to discard a force from hand to summon fortress and he says I cant do that. we call a judge over and the judge ruled in my favor, sense that cards does not say discard to the graveyard he says it works, Joshua appeals and they look up some stuff and comes back with the same rulling. He had no real answer to the fortress for 2 turns but thats 5000 damage, afer that I gadget him to death. I felt really bad that entire game, because I trully did not know that was the ruling and joshua even said that it was recently changed because it used to be like that but not any more. well Sorry It could have been sny ones game but we will never know.

Round 7 vs Joshua Harris (black wing)

Game 1 my deck deck running at full steam broke through the wall of traps and took the win

 

Game 2 Early oppression shuts me down and with no answers I surrender

 

Game 3 Once again Oppression covers the field, but I was o.k., not great, but o.k. I finnaly have a win move against him but I need to use smashing ground, his solemn had other thoughts, next turn he won.

 

I find OUt that he was already an x so I was paired down which is gonna hurt me in the standings

Final Round of Swiss vs Rodrick Mcallister (Gadget Town)

 

Game one, wow all day long and I am just now seeing a mirror match. we both did our normal plays he just won the dice roll so he won, thats almost how these decks run against each other.

 

Game 2 I side in 9 cards from my side deck, gues how many I draw into... NONE!!! He gains advatage before me and gets the win. well maybe next time, I mean it litterally has been over a year and a half sense I played in a regional so I guess I am a little rusty.

 

Well they post the standings and I am 22nd place, They were awarding 32 invites...YES!!! Finnaly! I feel a little dirty about it due to the bad rulling and the fact they used to only give 4 invites no matter what, but I guess I will take what I can get! We find out Joey made 9th place wich is quite the kick in the balls, but hey he did the best out of the 4 of us at St louis, and was invited to join Our team officially. I find out Steven took 10th place in nashville so thats 3 invites today for our team, 2 already had them for this year, so only 2 more to go untill all current members of our team have them, But I know that wont be to long from know, jason is an increadible player, and brian just made a few misplays due to running a new deck to him without that much practice.

and the judges giving a game one loss to some guy for haveing extra cards in his deck box that was on the ground during a deck check, I mean really, how could he have cheated withe extra cards in there? its not like he has a card that says ad one card from your deck box to your hand... Oh well

 

Sorry parts of this are not very detailed, I tryed to remember as much as I could, bu With lack of sleep and no notes I did the best I could. I hope you guys enjoyed the read!
