My new guess, other than my still there methane bubble theory (Page 1): USA/Russia/North Korea have made an underwater testing facility, and are trying to blow up Cthulhu detonating nuclear/hydrogen bombs. Just a possibility.The only problem there is that ocean life seems to shrink the further down we go. Something massive couldn't sustain itself on all the small fries and would starve.
