Better in that it's more focused than the rest of your efforts, you focused in on one style, that's good. The lighting is a little overdone, which shows through how bad the b&w looks, but overall it's not bad.

I dont Think the Smudging Terrible, It could use a bit work but its overall Decent and he has made a Good sig.

I suck at smudging, too. Just takes a hell of a lot of time to really develop. Keep practicing if you like smudging. It's a good technique to know. <3

I think you might also want to adjust the lighting of the tag.
