what's the best ratio for stand alone cards to combo cards?

Recommended Posts

this is to be a disscussion on something I feel is a critical but somewhat overlooked part of deck building, the ratio between cards that at the end of the day, are stand alone cards meant to win the game themselves, and cards that are meant to work with other cards to build up to a win.

what do you think the best balance is, and how much does it change between deck styles?

Oh, I thought by combo you meant like... more specific combos. Some amount of Flamvells and Rekindling. Some amount of D-Heroes and D-Draw. Etc etc.

I don't think Tuners count as combo monsters, considering that plenty of tuners have pretty awesome effects on their own, Blackwing Gale, Airbellum, Plaguespreader to a degree, and that's without synchroing at times.

Magical Exemplar combos with... every monster in your deck. I wouldn't consider it a combo card more then Allure of Darkness for an entirely dark deck...

good point, but what is a tuner meant for in your deck? to summon a synchro, indicating that it is not ment to work alone.

and more specific combos are also part of the disscussion, I was just putting down things off the top of my head.
