[spoiler=Season 1: A True Champion: Episode 1]

Through the dark night, Tom crept his way towards Neo Domino City. As Tom made his way to the city, he kept on thinking about Neo Domino City, all the new possibilities, new friends, big duels and the main reason why he was going there, the Grand Tower Duel Tournament. This thought ran through his head, multiple times, like it was trying to send him to sleep. He felt dizzy, maybe even nauseas as he finally fell asleep.

Ugh, where am I? Tom thought as he lifted himself up. He saw that he was still in the woods, not even 50 meters from Neo Domino City. Guess I made it. he thought.

“Another great Saturday, don’t you think Nikia?” Blake said cheerfully. “I can’t wait for the big duel tournament in the center of town today, can’t you?”

“Yeah, of course I can’t wait, a duel is just what I need right now at 9:00 in the morning,” Nikia responded in disgust. She hated waking up early. She could manage school days but on Saturday or Sunday, she would be outraged.

“Come on, let’s go, we are going to be late!” Blake said as he ran out the door, with Nikia slowly walking along.

Alright everybody, please line up in the lanes here to get your registration done so you can enter the tournament, a voice over the intercom said. Tom was lucky. He was first in line at his lane.

“So, you are ready to enter, please pass through the door here,” the counterman said as he pointed to a door on the left of the counter, which led to the duelling stadium. “You will find your escort here.”

Blake and Nikia, they weren’t that far ahead in line. They found themselves at the very end of Lane 4, the biggest lane of them all. “This isn’t fair,” Blake said in an unhappy manor. “Why can’t we be first in line, I hate waiting this long.” Nikia was barely awake. She didn’t really care what Blake was babbling on about, because she knew it was probably complaining again.

Alright, the preliminaries are about to start. First two duellists are, Nikia Rosco and Tom Adams. Please make your way to the duel field immediately, the intercom said.

“Oh great, I’m first up,” Nikia groaned as she made her way to the duel field. On her way, she saw Tom. “So, looks like we are first up,” she said, in a happier tone, looking more excited than usual.

“Yeah, you better be ready, because you don’t know what’s coming after you!”

[spoiler=Season 1: A True Champion: Episode 2]

The fans were cheering, as the two duellists came to the duel arena: Nikia on the left, Tom on the right.

“You ready Tom, because I sure know I am,” Nikia said as she loaded here purple duel disk. The duel disk began to glow, emitting a pinkish light. “Let’s duel!”

Nikia: 4000

Tom: 4000

“I’ll go first,” Tom said as he looked at his cards. “I summon Shaman Sahmisk in attack mode (ATK: 1600),” Tom said as the elderly looking samurai appeared, with a thunder rod in his hand, ready for battle. “I will set 1 card and end.”

“Okay, let’s see now, oh I got it! I summon Plant Queen Roze in attack mode (ATK: 1700),” Nikia said with excitement, as a tornado of flowers began to swept the battle field, as the monster appeared. “Now Plant Queen Roze, attack his Sahmisk, Flower Pedal Dance!” Nikia commanded as her monster began to spin, with a pink glow as it charged at Tom’s monster. Tom’s monster immediately disappeared into a cloud of flowers. “I will end with a face down and since it is my end phase, Roze gains a Roze counter (1 Roze Counter)!” Nikia said as Roze began to flash a purplish light around itself.

Nikia: 4000

Tom: 3900

“Alright, draw. I set a face-down monster and end my turn,” Tom said as the card appeared in a horizontal card on the field, next to his other face-down card.

“My move, I draw,” Nikia said as she drew another card. “The effect of my Plant Queen Roze now activates. It gains another counter, like it did during my end phase (2 Roze Counters). “I summon Phoenixian Flower in attack mode (ATK: 1200),” she announced as her flower appeared on the field planting itself into the ground. “Now I tune both my monsters to synchro summon my dangerous beast! Turn plants into warriors and warriors in plants, the best combination yet, I synchro summon Phoenixian Plant Fighter (ATK: 2400)!” Nikia chanted as the big beast entered the field in place of the two monsters before it. “Attack his face down monster with Flying Flower Blast!” Nikia said as here Plant Fighter attacked Tom’s face down, which was Shaman Quizas. “Another thing to add, my monster deals damage to a defense position monster also, so take this Tom!” Nikia said as Tom’s life points began to drop.

Nikia: 4000

Tom: 2000

“Now, I activate the effect of Shaman Quizas. When it is flipped, I can destroy cards you control equal to the number of face down cards I control. Now, since I control 1 face down, say good bye to your Phoenixian Plant Fighter!” Tom said as the Plant Fighter disappeared.

“I end,” Nikia said in a disappointed voice, knowing that she had walked herself into this.

“Now, prepare to face a turn unlike any other Nikia! You better be ready!”

To Be Continued

[spoiler=Season 1: A True Champion: Episode 3]

“You ready Nikia, because this duel is going to take a big swing!” Tom said as he drew his card. “I activate Shaman Call. When this card is activated, I can remove from play 2 Shaman monsters from my Graveyard to Special Summon 1 Shaman monster from my deck, so bring forth, Shaman Fightbox (ATK: 1400),” Tom said as the thunder box appeared onto his field, with an electrical field around it. “Now I summon Shaman Kishi in attack mode (ATK: 1400). Now, I tune my two monsters. The souls of shamans past come to life during times of war! Their collective might will aid those among the living! Synchro Summon! Be reborn, Dragon God of Shamans!” Tom chanted as his two monsters began to form a ring of green light, as Dragon God of Shamans appeared on the field. “Now Dragon God, attack her directly with Thunder God Strike!” Tom said as his dragon launched an electrical attack at Nikia, which blew her back across the ground. “I will end my turn.”

Nikia: 1400

Tom: 2000

Struggling to get up, Nikia made her move. “Alright, I draw,” Nikia said as she drew then next card in her deck. “I summon a monster in face down defense position.”

“Is that all you got Nikia? Are you giving up already?” Tom said as he drew a card. “I summon my other Shaman Kishi. Now his effect activates. By sending Shaman Hiarki to the graveyard from my deck, I can destroy one card you control. Good bye to your monster!’ Tom said as Nikia’s face down monster disappeared, leaving Nikia’s field wide open for the finishing attack. “Dragon God of Shamans, attack with Thunder God Strike!” Tom said as his dragon attacked, finishing their duel.

Nikia: 0

Tom: 2000

After the duel, they walked back to the entrance, where they met Blake waiting for them.

“What a great duel you guys! You were great!” Blake said with excitement. “Hopefully I can duel next!” Blake added as he chewed on his candy.

“Don’t worry Blake, you will get to duel sometime,” Tom said, wanting to see what type of deck Blake uses.

“You never know, maybe I could be next!”

[spoiler=Chapter 4]

Blake, Tom and Nikia were sitting down on the bench outside of the duel arena, waiting to see who would be in the next round. Both of them expected to see Blake up next, but his competitor was not evident.

Later that afternoon, a group of dark cloaked figures began to approach the duel arena. Blake, who was curious to find out who these people were, so he decided to go introduce himself: “hello, I’m Blake and who do you happen to be?”

“Hello little kid. I would appreciate it if you got out of my way,” the man said to Blake.

“Well, sorry, didn’t mean to slap your emotions around,” Blake said, in a very unaggressive tone.

“Alright kid, Blake, whatever your name is, I don’t want to hurt you, so just get out of my way or I will have to resort to physical violence,” the mysterious man snapped at Blake, which intimidated him.

“Tom, who ever that guy is, he isn’t very nice,” Blake said to Tom as he seemed scared.

“I think I know who they might be. It appears a group of people called the Guardians of Darkness. They have these 3 cards that are apparently the strongest cards in all of Yu-Gi-Oh which seems very suspicious if you ask me,” Tom said in a worried voice.

“Well, seems like we got to deal with them in the tourney because they have entered,” Nikia said pointing to the main desk. It appeared that the Guardians of Darkness had entered the tourney. Before any of them could talk, a voice on the intercom announced the next match-up.

Can Dmitri Mikalakov and Blake Rosco please make their way to the duel arena, thank you.

“Guess I got to go guys, I will be back, hopefully,” Blake said, hoping his friends would realize he was joking. When he got onto the field, he saw his opponent, and lo and behold, it was the guy he had met at the main desk.

“Oh perfect, I have you as an opponent,” Dmitri said as he shuffled his deck. “I will make this quick, so the pain doesn’t endure.

“The only pain I will be feeling is the hunger I have, because I could really use a cheeseburger right now,” Blake said, maybe a childish mistake to make in front of someone like Dmitri.

“Just shut up, and let’s duel!”
