I'm sad :<

Because Germany did so well, Spain did extremely well here but they sucked against Portugal and sucked even more against Paraguay, also they lost against SWITZERLAND. Considering that Luxembourg won against Switzerland once this is really nothing to be proud of.

Netherlands on the other side won everything so far but Spain is the stronger side on paper. We shall see...

Well I do, kinda... Germany deserved to win in every way, they had everything. It's not that they played bad but Spain built up a wall and controlled the ball throughout most of the game, making it impossible to counter-attack. Then in the end they just needed Villa to attack and bang.:<

Also Germany had a few chances to equalize, they really did but failed everytime.

Spain on the other side were horrible in the 1/8 and quarter finals, almost lost to Paraguay and lost to freaking Switzerland, and then suddenly they play like they should. If they really become champions then the Swiss can headbutt themselves.:<

Oh well guys, at least the World Cup brought something other than vuvuzelas and unexpected teams going far, a shitload of countries trying to get their animals to predict matches.

Incase you don't know about it, there's a random octopus in Germany who has "predicted" several World Cup matches, including Germany's loss aginst Serbia and Spain. They put 2 boxes of food with flags of the countries and he picks the one that's going to win.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ijTyLl_BRA

Now he got concurrence from a parrot in Singapore who already predicted the 4 semi-finalists.

Bad thing is just that Paul the octopus picked Spain whereas the parrot picked the Netherlands.:o

Yeah people are going crazy...and not just with vuvuzelas.

German media are kind of going crazy over the octopus, I bet many of the players heard it and were already disheartened before the match started.xD

Well discuss people using animals to predict soccer matches and the finals on Sunday.x3

I asked my cat to predict the winner of the Cup today. The plan was, I would pet him, and then he would either...

... nuzzle my hand for a Spain win.

... bite my hand for a Dutch victory.

He bit me.

I hope he's psychic. <3

Edit - Guys, Germany is out of the Cup.

Yeah it seems that they don't really know what this is about...

It's just an octopus who has predicted all the last soccer matches right, as well as a parrot who got the semi-finalists right.

Now the octopus says Spain is going to win while the parrot says it's the Netherlands.

Parts of me hope that the parrot is right though.=D D=

The parrot/octopus thread was pretty much discussion on the world cup, and since we already have a rather large thread for it, I merged the two. Opal, if you really want them as separate threads, let me know. ;)

I saw the news yesterday, I was more interested in learning stuff about the octopus than its prediction really :P

As much as I like the Netherlands as a team, I really feel Spain would come full-circle if they took the cup - Europe's best immediately followed by World's best would be an enormous accomplishment, and since both teams are pretty much neutral to me (the best thing about watching a world cup after your country is out), I plan on just sitting back and enjoying the game. Not rooting for anybody in particular makes (good) football games so much more enjoyable, in my opinion.

Oh...I wanted to see animal battles like Pokémon.=[

But ok master.

I feel that Spain should become champion on paper but I still think the Netherlands have a chance. The best team that never won, somehow... They did really well so far and lost no simple game but considering that Spain decided to wake up in the semi-finals I think Paul might be right again.D:

But either way at least we're going to get a new world champion, that's the least we could expect from a Troll Cup where totally underrated teams advanced.xD I mean, Slovakia, Paraguay, Chile, Italy-France leave in the knockouts.

I HAVE FAITH IN THE PARROT FROM SINGAPORE~ <3

Now that I think about it' date=' anyone thinks the North Korean team and staff might get in a... slight be of trouble back home after their performance at the cup? :/

Nah.;)

I thought that too because some shitty Chinese newspaper started spreading rumours about coal mines but it seems like some agents understand what's going on. Good news, at least they don't have to stay in the country and get international experience.

Jong Tae-Se moved to FC Bochum for a fee of 250.000 even though he's way more worth than that.=/ But I'm pretty sure that Ji Yun-Nam and Ri Jun-Il will follow, maybe they're the 2 players discussing transfers to some English or German club.

And yeah Paraguay aren't that bad, ok they threw Japan out with penalties but they did fairly well against Spain who were shitty in that game.

Good to hear they won't be executed in a gory display on the town square. :P

Paraguay is made awesome by Oscar Cardozo, striker-extraordinaire of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, my hometown team and Portuguese First League winners of the 2009-2010 season. [/ego-stroking]
