Terra looked around the arena and was wondering about who had sent him the letter and when his first match would be. "(Why would anybody give an invitation to something like this to me, I'm just a random face in in an average duel gang so it doesn't make sense.)" While thinking of this Terra found the arena his match would be in, but his match would be a while away and he needed to get ready, emotionally more than anything else.

Madeline giggled. "I'll be quite all right on my own, thank you," she said, flicking a few stray strands of her silver hair from her face. "I'll see around," she mused, rising to her feet and heading towards the door. The day, thus far, had been more than entertaining. She had a good match to compensate for her dull opponent in the qualification round, and everything thus far had been going swimmingly. In the back of her mind, she felt a little intrigued about Kane. If he had indeed survived her shadow duel, then she, or another of her colleagues, would need to take care of him again. Nick had chosen to take the fall for her duel, but Derek hadn't seemed really upset about the situation, more thoughtful. She guessed it didn't really matter.

--

Derek strode into his 'office', a small room with a desk and plenty of privacy. He sat at a small computer and brought up a list of qualified duelists. He wanted to be able to monitor every person here, whether they be one of the Six, a random fool, or a member of the Ordo Everto.

Elliot, after spending a few more minutes at the infirmary, made his way back to his house. "Mom, Dad, Felicity, I'm home." Just then a little girl with orange hair and a green dress ran up to Elliot and hugged him. "Elliot! Elliot! Where were you?!" "Hehe, hey Felicity. Sorry I took so long getting home. It was kind of an exciting day today so I stayed late. Sorry if I made you worry Felicity." "Alright..... Well I'm glad you're alright." "Thanks, hehe." Elliot's mom came out from the kitchen. "Oh Elliot you're home. What took you so long, you had me worried half to death." "Sorry Mom, I had some stuff to do, but don't worry I'm okay." "Well that's good to know." "Elliot, you promised to duel with me today." "Oh that's right. Well let's go shall we?" "Yah!"

-Meanwhile-

Dan was dining alone in an immensely huge, beautifully decorated dining room. "Hmm..... how boring to not have any form of entertainment while I dine..... Tommorow will be really entertaining..... if I'm lucky, I might get to duel one of the Six...... Now that would be really entertaining...... hehe....."

Nick rolled about a bit, and sat up in his bed. He couldn't fall asleep for whatever reason. His own jealousy was actually interrupting his own life now... He just lay back down, hands clenched over eyes, not crying, but more just, pushing pressure into his skull. He finally decided to leave the room, picking up a shirt on the way out. He slams his door and walks around the halls. He finally decides to go visit Derek, cuz he couldn't find Dan and his phone was lost somewhere in his room anyway. Plus, Derek never moved from his cave this time of night. Nick raps on the door with his fist, awaiting an answer. He wasn't even really sure why he was there. Boy, did he want to get in though. Nick started shuffling through the deck he would use for the tournament tomorrow, preparing it for all of life's little mysteries that people like to call decks.

Derek was in the middle of examining a folder with statistics and data sheets when he heard a rap on his door. He blinked, set the folder aside and cleared his throat, "Come in." The Wicked Avatar chuckled, the internal laugh sounding somewhat intrigued at the same time. Just who would be coming to call at his office at this time? He was scarcely aware anyone even knew where his office was. In case the person at the door couldn't hear him, he raised his voice slightly.

"Come in!"

Jane walked around, looking for Kane. She was really confused about a lot of things, but mainly concerned for him. How could he win a match in the tournament tomorrow without his ace card? She wondered if her dad would be willing to help her... just one more time. [spoiler=This is the backstory section] Jane started to think about how she had pretty much become her parents in a different fashion. At first, her parents didn't understand her because they were different people, she didn't enjoy the game of Yu-Gi-Oh! Like Her mother, a championship duelist like Jane, or her father, a prime card designer, the very person who invented the Lightsworn archetype. But now... she was in love with the game.

All of that had actually made her wonder if her father would be willing to do something special for Kane and herself. She decided to walk out of the Stadium, get in her car and drive home. It would be a late night, all for a friend she barely even knew.

I'm such a female tool. Ah well. Haha. she thought to herself.

The Wicked God transformed into a black hole and destroyed everything on the field, including Ran's opponent. The opponent screamed as he was sucked into the raging black hole. "And the last one for tonight is sacrificed." Ran finally said, laughing.

Hardly. You already said that when you sacrificed your last opponent. Also, I think I'm the one who keeps you sane, because if I never talked to you, you might as well erase the whole city.

And right you are, you incomplete spirit.

Was that an insult or a compliment?

Both.

And with that, he finally started heading home, again, this time with no more people to sacrifice. The entire area was already in craters, literally. On the way, he saw a car drive past. He then started debating whether to follow or ignore the driver.

Nick was still shuffling through his cards when Derek shouted the first time. He didn't hear him because he was kind of lost in a train of thought. Nick nearly dropped his deck when he shouted even louder the second time. Nick opens the door, "Hey Mr. Enzyme. I was a little restless so I decided to just... stop by. How're the duelists holding up so far?" he tried to seem interested, but he was really just trying to pretend he had a reason to be there.

Derek raised an eyebrow subtly when he saw Nick outside the door. He made a gesture for the Sin of Envy to come into the room. "Well, thus far everything is fine," he answered in a brisk, businesslike tone. Within him, the Avatar was mulling over the likely reasons for the visit. It was not often that one who was restless would come to one of the Heralds just to ask about duelists.

"I have, naturally, assembled a quick record of the two duelists you and the others mentioned," Derek continued. "The information I have is relatively unclear, but there's no doubt I'll be observing them during their rounds tomorrow. And before you ask, I have no guarantee that one of our members will be paired against any of our main adversaries, but you never know."

The suited man took a moment to regard the deck in Nick's hand. Why was he carrying his deck around in his hand? In the deckbox or a disk was sensible enough, but it seemed random otherwise. However, Derek said nothing about it.

Nick shrugged, "I guess I didn't really expect you to know their entire life based off of a computer. That's why I'm trying to get Jane to trust me. So that I can get her to dig dirt and give it to me. Kind of like my own little gardening tool for the six." he laughed. He felt so smart for even having this plan.

Nick noticed Derek's special attention to his deck for a moment, "Ah. Yes. About this, I was wondering if you thought it was sensible for me to run my Earthbound's or if I should build a seperate deck for the tournament. Either way, I'll do fine, but I was kind of nervous about bringing Chacu with me in the event that I actually manage to summon it."

Derek considered the question for several moments. "That's actually a very sensible question," he said, mulling it over. The appearance of an Earthbound Immortal in the tournament could prove to be alarming, and near-instantly alert opponents to the higher ranked members of the Ordo Everto. Then again, Derek himself had no intention of removing the Wicked Avatar from his own deck, so it could be considered hypocritical to directly tell Nick to do otherwise.

"It's more or less left to your discretion. You were all given Earthbound Immortals, but are not required to use them. If you want to remove it from your deck, do so. If you want to leave it in, but not use it unless necessary, do that. If you want to use it, go ahead."

He paused a moment, considering what the Avatar was whispering to him. "If your deck revolves around your Immortal and you are having qualms about using that card, then rebuild the deck. Just don't expect anyone else to take a handicap."

Nick more or less disregards Derek's answer. He hated those kinds of fickle, wishy-washy answers.

"More or less what I was thinking of doing. Just build a water deck with all the speed, but just no Earthbound. I can use something like Levia Dragon as my ace instead, just for now. However, if I face one of the six... Deck adjustment might be neccessary. The shorter they're around to know who they are, the better." Nick laughed a little.

"Well, I best be off. I couldn't imagine it'll be too long before the tournament starts and I need my rest. I'd suggest you got some yourself. Sleep, that is." He chuckles again and walks out the door.

Derek nodded, for the most part tuning out Nick's response. He personally didn't really care what decision Nick made, and wasn't bothered to point out that unless they knew who all six of...the Six...were, he could end up excluding his Immortal and being defeated without it. Then again, the Wicked Avatar wasn't worried about the fate of the Sins, so that problem lay with Nick alone.

"Have a good night, then," Derek said tonelessly as Nick exited, sighing and returning to the folder before him. With a pause, he took out his own deck and swiftly searched through it. Now was as a good a time as any to verify his strategies.

It was the next day. Itsu and Dessna was hopelessly still asleep. Bah, Protheus hadn't slept many milennia. And Ran rarely sleeps too. He simply stood in the light as the Age of apocalypse began. "It is time at last! The Wicked Gods shall unleash their wrath upon the world! Omnis-Metatron, your efforts were completely WORTHLESS! Thou who is currently reading this text, thou shall be doomed! Hahahahahahaha!"

You know, I used to laugh like that, but then I had to get cough drops.

Shut up, you insignificant brat! Hahahahahahhaha!

You're the insignificant one here. You only happen to be one of three main antagonists of ONE dimension and I happen to be a secondary villain in almost EVERY dimension. You don't even know me. And I also happen to have a special text color while you're stuck with plain old black.

Ran stopped laughing. The last thing he needed was to go to the hospital before he could do anything. And he was filled with frustration.

OOC: TIME SKIP!!!!!! It is the next morning, and all of the duelists have been called out to the stadium for a speech from the director of sector security. Sorry if i interrupted anything!

IC: The morning was clear; almost no clouds in the sky to obscure the sun's rays. "Director" Kansanass stood on the podium, waiting for all of audience members to quiet down. He was nervous, and his palms had become sweaty. Although he was used to public appearances of this sort, he was always afraid of stuttering or making some other mistake during them. The audience's volume had dropped to a level at which he could be heard audibly throughout it, and he cleared his throat...

At that same moment, Kane Scalind and Argentum Astrum sat uneasily within the crowd. Kane scanned for any signs of the woman who had stolen his Stardust Dragon, while Astrum was simply bored and desperately craved activity. "He's starting his speech, Kane." Astrum warned as the pair looked up.

Tyson Veldt also looked up, but he was really focused on his fantasy of burning the entire stadium to the ground, with everyone in it. Uru spoke in his head with a deep, gravely voice "You must wait, Tyson. There will be time for the destruction that they deserve, but you have to keep cool for now. Otherwise, you may blow your cover, and the Ordo will be exposed."

"Fine. Just as long as I have my fun in the end." Tyson thought to the voice, as what appeared to be a content look moved across his face.

"Director" Kansanass finished clearing his throat, and took out the speech from his pocket. He steadied the microphone, and began to speak; his voice coming across loud and clear to the audience via the speaker system. "Before we begin, I would like to congratulate you all on making it this far. You are all excellent duelists, and I hope each one of you succedes. I myself was once a duelist, and I know how excited you all must be. Now, I would like you all to bring your attention to the large screen over there." The screen showed an image of two duelists on duel runners. One had a Dark Magician, and the other a Blue Eyes White Dragon. The magician duelist maneuvered his vehicle to the side of the track, and took a card from a robotic arm that had appeared from the wall. The duelist played the card, whose face was orange, instead of the traditional card color. The Dark Magician attacked, vaporizing the dragon.

"Director" Kansanass spoke again after the screen went black. "This tournament will feature an alternate type of turbo duel. The rules are in pamphlets that we have delivered to your rooms, but I'll give a brief explanation. Players have no life points, there are no turns, and each commands one monster from the start of the game. The monsters battle each other until one is victorious. and ATK and DEF points do not matter. It is a contest of physical prowess. A player can strengthen their monster using those orange cards you just saw onscreen. These are called WEAPON cards, and each will strengthen your creature with some sort of weapon or ability. Now that that is out of the way, I welcome you to the Duel Monsters World Tournament! You are all free to meet your fellow duelists here, and food has been provided. Be prepaired, because the duels start at 2:00 p.m., which is three hours from now." With that, the "director" left, and was escorted out by his bodyguards.

OOC: I will post a set of rules for the new turbo duels in the OOC thread and in one of my next posts here. PM me with any questions, please.

OOC: Will we have actual structured deck dules?

IC: Jane was walking around the stadium, looking for Kane. It took her and her father all night to properly create this card that she wanted to give him. She felt irrationally bad for Kane that he lost ownership of his Stardust dragon, and she wanted to replace it with something equally as good, if not better. She spots Kane and starts to move a little faster throughout the stands when she hears the rules for the tournament.

"...One monster? That's odd. How will I ever use my lightsworns to full effectiveness?" she says underneath her breath. She shrugs off the thought and gets closer to Kane, he was well within yelling distance, "Kane! Kane!" she waves Kane down. She was afraid Kane wouldn't notice her wearing her Leather Jacket that marked her success as a tournament duelist on the back, with a big emblem that reads, "England Nationals WINNER 1st Place, 2009" on the back. She hadn't entered them this year, seeing as how she figured this tournament was bigger.

She held the card in her right hand, in a small box, for ensured protection. For it to be destroyed would be a big waste. She gets closer and yells again, "Kane!"

Elliot arrived at the stadium just in time to hear the new innovative duel system. "Huh? Well, this is going to be an interesting twist." Elliot stated to himself. He then saw Kane sitting nearby along with Jane and decided to run over to them. "Hey Kane! Jane!" Elliot fianlly got to them and turned to Kane. "Thanks for yesterday. By the way, I didn't get a chance to introduce myself to you in person. I'm Elliot nice to meet ya." Elliot stated as he smiled and held his hand out. Dan watched the speech from a private room. The luxorious room looked as if it was part of a mansion. Dan sat in a beautifully decorated chair as he watched the events unfold. "The tournament is almost starting. I can't wait to see what happens." Dan stated.

Derek stood alone behind a pane of glass on an upper floor, overseeing the stadium grounds. From here, he listened to the announcement, and a subtle frown lined his face. While he had had a large role in organizing the tournament, the rule change had caught him by surprise. Such a strange rule.

"How peculiar...", the Avatar mused. "Yet still, a silver lining. A shadow game under such conditions would be far more strenuous, with all a duelist's energy being solidified into a single monster. And I'm certain we can find a way to maintain an advantage, no matter the opponent."

-

Madeline frowned beneath her cloak. A contest of physical prowess? Her deck was filled with monsters with relatively low power, it was through support and swarming that made them so formidable. Of course, she did have her trump card...the devastating Earthbound Immortal. Hmph, she'd figure something out.

OOC: serenade: yes we will. I posted a complete set of rules in the OOC thread, so read that

IC: Kane turned around and saw Jane waving him down. He elbowed Astrum and waived back at her. "Who is that girl?" Astrum asked Kane with a puzzled look.

"Whats-her-name... I can't remember, but she helped us out after the duel yesterday, remember?"

"Yes, now I do. Lets go see what she wants."

"Right." With a nod from Kane, the two walked briskly over to her. "Nice jacket, uhhh Jane was it?" He said, scratching the back of his head. Kane was embarrassed that he didn't remember her name, seeing as she had been of help to him during the traumatic events of the previous day. Astrum stood back a few feet, preffering to stay out of the conversation until something interesting to him was mentioned. Kane heard Elliot introduce himself, and turned around to see the unconcious boy he had carried to the infirmary. Kane shook his hand "Kane Scalind, its a pleasure." He turned back to Jane. "Weird way to kick off the tourney, what with giving us a new rule book. Don't you think?" Kane asked. "Still, it will be fun. By the way, what's that box for?" He asked, intrigued at the small item in her hands.

Nick laughed heartily when he heard the news from a dark corner in the stadium, "A contest of strength! Ha! My deck will romp this tourney! But Madeline... She just uses frogs... what hope could she have to do any damage? Maybe it'd be appropriate of me to give her a card..." he thought, maybe then he'd have a chance of Madeline appreciating him. He walks around, searching for her. He had his phone on him, but he wasn't even sure if there were pockets in that robe of hers, so he went searching for her.

Well, that was annoying. There were a few changes to Aifeldt's plans, especially since his deck didn't rely on attacking or defending. But really, it wasn't a question of physical prowess, it was a test of skill and balance. And with the power of the shadows combined with the monster he had chosen, he could easily dominate that contest. However, Aifeldt had to fear the standard Riding Duels. As the majority of his deck and the win condition of said deck were both Spell Cards, they were outlawed by tournament rules. However, there was a different strategy to be had, especially with the Speed Spells' plentiful draw resources. He made a mental resolve to get as many Speed Spell Cards as possible before he would play a Riding Duel.

Elliot sat down and started to think about the new rules. "(Hmm, I wonder how will this effect the tournament. Kane has already lost his Stardust Dragon which is his strongest monster. How is he going to be able to duel his best without actually using his best monster? {Sigh} I'm probably worrying too much. I believe that Kane and Jane will be awesome out there, so I'll root for them.)" Elliot thought to himself. Dan looked through his deck and took out one of his best monsters, Twilight End Dragon. "Hehe, maybe I should use you for the tournament. Afterall, you'll demolish the competitors, hehehe....." Dan stated.

Jane nods with a smile on her face, "Yes. It was Jane." She says gently as she takes a few bangs out of her face, allowing Kane to see her beautiful eyes. She looks over through the corner of her eyes to see Elliot's young physique, "Hello Elliot."

She looks down at the box, but she didn't want Elliot to be jealous of her just giving Kane a gift, "Ah well, it's nothing really. I actually kind of need to talk to you in private... so. Shall we?" she motions down a hallway, exiting the stadium.

Madeline left the stadium ahead of the other duelists, her thoughts focused on the upcoming rounds, so much that she wasn't really paying attention to where she was going. This is ridiculous! she complained mentally. How does this new rule inform anyone who's a good duelist! I could end up losing just because of this duel style, which has nothing to do with a person's deck!. Her violet eyes flashed in annoyance. It had been a regular Turbo Duel, she would have been fine with it, but a Turbo Duel that doesn't involve a real duel?

[spoiler=OOC]Just to be clear, Elliot is not the type to get jealous.

Elliot smiled at Jane. "Hi there Jane." Elliot then noticed the box Jane was carrying. "Huh? (I wonder what's in that box. Oh well, it's none of my business. Maybe she got it for Kane? Hehe, I wish I had a present to give to both of them for yesterday. Maybe I should buy something later for them to say thank you.)" Elliot though to himself as he turned back around to face the front. "Even if I were in this tournament I wouldn't be able to compete. I don't have a duel runner...." Elliot said to himself.
