The Warden

Ho-o regarded each human with slight thought, payin attention to each yokai. 'Those born of the human world. there is a great task assigned to you know. The worlds of the Yokai are in terminal dissarray. Those familiar with the legend would know of Yamata no Orochi, the deadly eight headed serpant killed by' Ho-o cut off, looking at Susano-o statue. 'Susano-o, the god of the storms. Most Yokai could not handle this beast, not even the three great gods, Fujin, Suijin and Raijin. Who, I am glad to say are present here. Of course, you humans may question why we would place our hopes in you. It is because ou humans possess a near limitless potential, one which the Yokai could utilize in combination with their powers. Of course, each yokai here posses great power, which can, in some way benefit you. Of course, how they will do so is up to them. Aldir and Britney have already demonstrated their powers, although in this case the Yokai have forced them into activation, which will in turn prove detrimental if not kept under control' Ho-o explained, flashing a dark look at Aldir's robe. 'Now, I would like a volunteer to come before me and the three gods to demonstrate their power. Do not be afraid, your powers will not get out of hand before the eyes of the gods. As their herald I will guide you through it' she said, hoping to provide comfort to the humans.

Kuroda looked at Ho-O and then at the mask he was holding. The mask winked and Kuroda smiled and raised to standing position.

"I'll do it!" He said with determination in his voice. He then walked up to the priestess and turned to the group.

"My name is Naoki Kuroda, but call me Kuroda, please!" He looked at the mask again.

"Put me on."

Kuroda did as Ushi said, and when he placed the mask upon his face he felt a surge of pain going through his body.

"Don't worry, it's not weird if it hurts the first time!" This time, Ushi-Oni's voice was only heard inside Kuroda's head.

Ho-o regarded Kuroda and the mask Ushi-Oni. 'Observe the human Kuroda and his Yoaki counterpart, the ox-demon Ushi Oni. In his current state the Yokai is a mask, but when put on and their two spirits intertwine, a new power is born. In this case, the form of Ushi-Oni takes control of the body. To put it simply, once the two harmonize their spirits, he will transform into what the greeks called a minotaur, except with a few twists. Ushi-Oni have great strength and endurance, not as much as some of the others here may possess, but he maintains the strong will he originally had, not losing it to bloodlust. The Ushi-Oni is special as besides myself, he is the only one capable of capturing spirits, which are normally impossible to touch or physically interact with. Now observe the magnificent change from human, to Yokai' Ho-o announced.

Kuroda felt how the pain started to fade away, but suddenly he felt got an headache. He felt how two horns started to grow out of his head and how his body was being covered by fur. Then the nails on his hands started to grow longer and turned black, and his feet felt like if they imploded when they turned into hooves. Last but not least, four black tentacles bursted out of his back.

He then opened his eyes and looked at the others. He noticed that he had grown notably bigger, and that he was now wearing nothing but the now ripped, black jeans he had worn before.

"So... This is the power of Ushi-Oni?" Kuroda said. His mind had now merged with Ushi's, and he kept his own mind while still knowing how to use his new form.

Ho-o nodded. 'It seems Ushi-Oni altered this state a little bit? Normally a pair of pants wouldn't survive on him, but as one who guards from evil spirits, I guess he is guarding you from slight embarasment. No matter, as you can all see, this would be the most basic form Ushi-Oni can take. As time progresses and you adapt to this form, Ushi-Onis power will grow, making you much more powerful as well' she explained.

Heikichi was a bit confused about what was happening. Some colourful bird turned into some wierd priestess saying that he and these people he didn't know would have to kill an eight headed dragon from Shinto mythology. The fox guy lost his fur and got a robe and now there was a minotaur.

"This is going to be interesting" Heikichi thought to himself. He took out his gourd and took a look at it. It just looked like a gourd, but maybe his did something too. Heikichi took the priestess' offer and stepped foward.

"I'll go. Let's see what I can do!" Heikichi proudly proclaimed, holding out his gourd. The gourd vibrated and water spouted from it, touching the roof and spilling it all over the place. Heikichi then did some dramatic hand movements, but nothing happened besides the endless amount of water flowing out of the gourd.

"Wow. That was impressive. So much for my magic powers..."

Ho-o regarded Heikichi, noticing the kanji on his forehead. 'Suijin, you truly never could make a good joke' she commented as her goldne eyes turned blue. From within her cloak, she withdrew a mirror and handed it to Heikichi. 'Regard Suijin, your hair has yet to change, signifying that you've only half bonded with Suijin. However, regard the kanji, proving you have sovereignty over water, albeit not completely' she explained.

Sam woke up from his depressed state.

"Hey, woman, do you know what you are doing is illegal? Against zi law? You should be arrested for abduction, and attempted murder or something. I mean, all you did back there was shave a guy and turned a person into an official cos player.

However, I have no explanation for the water flowing over there..."

Shut your mouth, fool boy. You have no idea who you are talking to. Byakko growled in his head.

"Yeah sure, either way. I only found some plastic, talking junk. What can I do with this? Slice a milk carton?" Ace proclaimed, while picking the claws up.

Lauren stagged upright when she had finished listening to Ho-o. Seeing as everyone was stepping up to Ho-o, Lauren slowly approached, looking cautious. "I guess I should ... I'm Lauren." She eyed the fan, which was still sprawled open to the maximum. Nodding to herself, she gently fanned herself like she barely had any strength; even though she was taking it gently, the resulting wind was still aggressive, and it took her everything to stand firmly on her feet. When she finished, her hair was now sticking out in a funny angle.

"Yeah ... that was ... exactly what had happened to me beforehand," she rather grouchily said.

Rayge was rather surprised that only Ho-o had noticed him, and at the same time he was relieved. Whenever someone saw him, they tended to be at least a bit intimidated. After all, he did stand over six feet tall and was rather muscular. Then again, he was standing behind the rest and, as such, was likely to go un noticed unless he decided to attract attention. Which was something he was about to do. Knowing his Japanese mythology well enough to know who the three gods: Fujin, Suijin, and Raijin, were. He had already guessed at his Yokai's identity. This concerned him, and he wanted to go ahead and get it out of the way immediately. Rayge slowly took a step forward, having waited until Lauren was completely done with her demonstration, gently pushing a few of the others aside as he moved slowly to take a stand in front of Ho-o. He clasped his hands together in front of himself and bowed deeply to her, rising before he spoke.

"My name is Rayge, and it is so because I had to name myself. I am reluctant to demonstrate my Yokai, and in a moment, you all will understand. While I do not know what will happen...I do guess."

He sighed, reaching down to pull the hammer from it's place in the tool loop on his pants. He grasped it in both of his hands, backing away from Ho-o and trying to put as much distance between himself and the others as possible. He simply held the hammer before him for now, turning his gaze to Ho-o as if he was asking her permission to continue, or perhaps asking how he was supposed to release it.

Aldir stood up after a few others did. It seemed like everyone was showing off their new abilities. Heikichi and his gourd of infinite water. Kuroda's transformation. Lauren's sudden gales. And now, Rayge was preparing to use his ability. Aldir was not about to be left behind.

"Intertwining spirits, huh," Aldir said, scratching his once-again messy hair. "I guess I should try to do this the right way." He shot a glare at Sam, who while recovered from the initial shock, was taking his frustrations out on Ho-o now. "Hey!" he yelled out to Sam. "I wasn't shaved! Get it right! In fact, I'll show you!"

He closed his eyes and could actually *feel* the Kitsune inside him. Or rather, inside the dressing robe. It was similar to the strange feeling he got when he first put on the robe - perhaps he was so used to it now that it just became normal for him.

Got it!

Recalling how it felt when he transformed originally, and how he looked at the time, the dressing gown once again became a coat of fur. While looking much the same he did before, tail included, the fur seemed to have a healthier looking sheen to it. Aldir then stood, and looked around the room while scratching the fur on the top of his head.

"Well, this feels different."

[spoiler=Ooc:] Zelda is visiting his grandparents, for two days and they don't have a computer over there. So until he comes back I'll be him.

As Rain watched everyone else demonstrait the power granted bytheir Yokai, she stood quietly off to the side. Everyone else is progressing with their Yokai....But not only do I not even know what my item is, but I don't have a clue how to summon it.....Well I guess it could be thi Veil...But what the hell can a Veil do?

Don't think about it. Put your faith in me, and I will handle the rest." Rain was taken off guard at the mature, saultry voice that spoke to her.

But...Who are you?

"I am Jorogumo, the Yokai that resides in the veil."

Rain closed her eyes. She felt kind of stupid at the thought of putting faith in a veil. Finally, she forced herself to relax by taking slow calming breaths. It's hard to explain what she was feeling at that moment. There was so much energy coursing through her, and she wanted to panic. It was too much for her to handle, but she suddenly felt a hand running through her hair. "It's alright. Relax some more, the transformation is almost done."

Rain felt herself nod, and finally relinquished all of the tension in her body. Slowly she felt her lower half morphing, and she was growing in height. However, Rain kept her eyes closed tight not wanting to see the transformation in progress. "Open your eyes. See what we have become."

She did so and the first thing she saw, saw that her entire lower body was a giant spider. A scream got stuck in her throat as she stared at her hairy eight legs. Her lower half, however, wasn't the only ting to change. Her short hair grew long, wavy, and ended where the spider body began. Her chest filled out even more, and her skin was flawless. Lush red lips were slightly parted in surprise as her dazziling, crystal blue eyes took everything in. It seemed almost unreal at how beautiful she was, and it more than made up for the spider body. Infact she forgot about it when she looked at her upper half. "Wow....That's....Unexpected..."

Rey stared in surprise at Rain. Who knew his younger sister could turn into something so deadly and yet beautiful at the same time. "Hey! Pick me up off the ground! Let me show them what I can do!"

Rey looked at the dog plushie that was on the ground forgotten. "Fine, no need to yell." He muttered picking it up. "So...What am I supposed to do, to get you out?" "Figure it out! Am I supposed to do everything around here?"

"A little help would be nice." Rey sighed while staring at the dog. It was a few seconds before he nodded. He tossed the plushie into the air and said, "Okami!"

Up went the dog plushi, but down came a huge, and I mean huge, wolf that cracked the floors when it landed. It had pure black fur, but lively golden eyes. he only indication that Rey was surprised were the widening of his eyes. "About time! It's been a while since I could stretch my legs." And stretch is just what Okami did, which warrented a deadpanned look from Rey.

Ho-o moved the eager humans aisde, her eyes turning a deadly red colour. She pointed one finger at Sam's face, her long hair flaring up like a mane. 'Bureiku Za Shīru' she cried. Instantly, it looked as if the boy's face had been smashed in then instantly reassembled again, which was precisely what had happened. 'The pain you will feel won't last too long, but the agony of the action will make you think twice about insulting the Yokai' she said hotly. She looked at the other humans and vanished for a moment.

Shorly aftarwards Ho-o reappeared, panting heavily as if she had done somehtign extremelly violent. She then turned a smiling face to Lauren. 'Tis a pleasure Lauren, although, I suggest heavily that you don't wave Fujin around like that, he is an extremelly active god and the wrong move would send us all hurtling through the wall' she warned. Pulling something from her robes, she drew an ornate hair clip in he shape of a butterfly. She handed it to Lauren. 'That should keep your hair in place when using Fujin's power' she said.

Ho-o turned her attention to Rayge, bowing in reply. 'I trust you understand that your Yokai is the very dangerous Raijin. He was always very aggressive due to his explosive powers. For the sake of this, I will allow a private room for some of you to utilize your powers. So for now, do not try to harmonize with Raijin' she stated.

Next was Aldir again. Ho-o said nothing as she approached him and handed him a pendant which was in the shape of a fox's head. 'This pendant was crafted by a Kitsune of the ninth tail to maintain its power. In your circumstance, this will prevent Kitsune from overpowering your mind and body and allowing it to adapt to your powers steadily. Once you have enough experience it will allow you to grow your next tail and so on' she explained.

Finally, Rey and Rain. 'Look upon Rain here. Her Yokai is the Jorogumo, a spider yokai. It is said spider who have lived in the human world for a long time become Jorogumo, who are capable of being in a spider form, a beautiful and extremelly captivating woman, or a combaintion of both. As time progresses I am sure you will be able to easily use all three forms. You are also able to unleash silk like a spider when you possess it's traits, allowing you to bind enemies in powerful webs' she explained. 'And then, young Rey has an unusual Yokai, Okami. whilst you all possess some supernatural power, the wolf here is but an extension of Rey's connection to Okami, allowing the wolf to appear in it's true form. Okami is extremelly mighty and fiercely loyal, attacking anything that would harm his master, ANYTHING' she continued.

Britney watched as everyone was told on what their yokai was, She was getting slightly worried that maybe her yokai wasn't the good Kind or maybe that she wasn't the right girl for this. "So Ho-o, can you tell me what my yokai is, Like I do know the whole fact that I have the whole large black wings and stuff but can you really go into detail on the whole usege of my yokai" . Britney asked politely but urgently, Her black wings moving slowly in an attempt to not hit anyone with them.

Aargh! Where's my voice! he was screaming inside his own head.

Yes, know you shall think before talking so rashly. Byakko growled once more in his head. Either way, as you can see, you will and must obtain my power as well. So, ask for forgiveness.

To whom? he asked towards the giant tiger who was apparently having a normal conversation inside Sam's head.

To the priestess, you fool boy! Now go, I'll wait until the moment you said it.

Sam's face started to regenerate and it looked like he eagerly needed oxygen.

"My face? Thanks for almost killing me there you-"

He then quickly stood up and made a deep bow.

"Please forgive me for me insolents and hostility towards you. I must control the idioti-

I mean, I must control the great Tiger in my head who is commanding me at the moment.

Please, forgive me once more." he said still bowed down.

Deck fiddled with his feathers. They were warm like before, but it was a comforting warmth instead of a burning one. He looked down at them in his hand, they just looked liked normal feathers. He then noticed that slight burn mark on his shirt beneath the feathers. A small smile appeared on his face. Deck had realised something.

The warmth that he felt when he held the feathers, the fact that they burnt his shirt when the Yokai had heard Ho-o's bird song. It was obvious really, the feathers would give him some kind of fire power. The only real questions he had were how could he use it, and who the Yokai he had was. Despite wanting the questions answered, Ho-o was talking to the others. And so Deck waited, you shouldn't rush important things.

Heikichi took the mirror and took a good look at the symbol that had been tatooed on him. He blinked a few times to make sure he wasn't just seeing a spot in his eye.

"Hey! Who put this thing here when I was sleeping! Man! My parents will kill me!" Heikichi cried out with anxiety. He tried rubbing it off, adding spit every few second, trying to rub it off, with no results. Quickly, Heikichi gave up trying to remove it.

"Why do you try to remove my mark human? Most would consider it a great honour to be the vessel of the god Suijin..." said a deep voice, which Heikichi heard coming out of the spilling gourd.

"Well, I don't see you doing anything. Prove it to me that you're really such a powerful god like you say," Heikichi replied to the gourd, challenging whatever was inside. As soon as he finished talking, even more water spouted out and blasted Heikichi to the ground. The water all over the room then floated through the air in droplets and combined to form one very large droplet. The droplet then shaped itself into a rough humanoid shape.

"Do you now see my power human?" said the water god before returning to the inside of the gourd. Heikichi simply picked up the gourd and said nothing.

The fox spirit was oddly silent while Aldir held the pendant. Aldir was never really told what his powers involved. He recalled stories of the Kitsune, but he wasn't sure what were true or not... or whether or not he could actually use the abilities displayed in said stories. As he put on the necklace, though, he heard a voice in his head.

Transformations....

"Well, that answers one question," Aldir muttered under his breath. He wondered why the Kitsune was being purposely cryptic. He was helping him, sure, but it wasn't much assistance. Aldir thought about attempting to shapeshift, but then noticed Heikichi apparently attacking himself with his own water, then creating a person from that water, then finally sending it back to the gourd. Aldir cautiously walked over to Heikichi, who was picking up the gourd.

"....You okay?" Aldir asked, raising an eyebrow.

Lauren smiled and took the clip, giving an odd nod as she did so. As she arranged her hair neatly again, she looked down at her fan and ended up beaming at it. So, she had the power of one of the gods - she suddenly felt more attached to her fan.

"Looks like I need to experiment more," she said to herself as she clipped her hair back. She then shut the fan a bit more, and very gently did a swerving motion. The flow was easier to control, now that the fan was less wide. I think I can get used to this. Although no voice ran out, she could feel Fujin was equally as happy.

Kuroda started to scratch his now cow-like face furiously.

"I want to go back to my old form!" He growled, and he then heard Ushi's voice within his head.

Calm down! Just calmly remove the mask like you would remove any normal mask.

Kuroda grunted, but then seemed to grab an invisible faceplate that crowned his face, and when he removed it he reverted back to his old form, and he somehow regained his old clothes. He was holding Ushi-Oni's mask in his hands.

"I know where I'll keep you!" He said and then removed the belt on his jeans.

"Not there!" Ushi shouted, but Kuroda just grinned.

He then did something with the belt and the mask, and when he was finsihed the mask had a kind of strap on the backside. He then strapped it onto his left shoulder.

"I didn't need that belt anyway, and when you're there I'll always now where I've got you!"

"Ah- I see."

Heikichi wiped at the water all over his clothes, trying to get some of it off before he started feeling too cold.

"Yea yea, I'm alright. This is just what I get for questioning a deity," Heikichi responded dryly, continuing to wipe the water at his clothes. When he looked down to see what he had done, his clothes were completely dry, as if they had never touched water before. Instead, the water had stuck to his hands, like a pair of transparent gloves. Heikichi brough his hands closer to his face to examine this marvel. The water acted as if it was in zero gravity, casually shifting its shape without extending more than two centimetres from his hand.

"Whoa...Awesome! Let's see what else I can do!" Heikichi exclaimed with excitement. He waved his hands, concentrating on the water that came off and directing it between his outstretched arms, his face showing his concentration. The water obeyed and floated into a blob in between his hands. Heikichi lifted his right hand and the floating water followed it, maintaining its distance. Heikichi thrust his right hand forward and the water shot forward, splashing into the opposite wall.

"Ha ha! Now I can totally kick ass at water gun fights! Or maybe take on some muggers! I'll be the Scourge of the Seas, defender of justice or something!"

"Yes, a little bit to the right and I was swallowing watter..." Sam mumbled.

"La la la, it's quite boring here... Can't seem to figure out these weird toys i'm carrying and I have to take a leak."

Frankly, are you that stupid? Look around, almost everyone els already found out about theirs. Byakko said.

"Then help me or something." Sam replied.

Okay, I'll give you a hint: Toy claws that fit around hands. Don't you get it, put it on your hands. No, not like that!

Why did I get such a stupid human.

"I ain't stupid! Watch me you dumb kitten." he yelled, while putting one of the claws on the right hand.

Finally, that's one. Let's continue with the second shall we.

Who are you calling dumb, annoying kid!

Rayge sighed slightly, nodding his head towards Ho-o as he brought the hammer down from in front of his chest and calmly slipped it back into the tool loop he carried it in. He now took the time to appreciate the shrine in which he was standing. It seemed he became very much relieved at hearing that he did not have to demonstrate Raijin's powers. However, there was the matter of a voice inside his head.

"Why didn't you unleash my powers?" Came a rather angry growl within his own mind. Rayge turned his gaze down to the hammer and let out a long sigh.

"Well, let's say that I don't like being a danger to everyone surrounding me." Rayge calmly responded within his own mind. A laughter sounding very much like thunder echoed through his head. It seemed that the lightning god was mocking him for the time being.

"Well, then you'll have to get used to me", Raijin answered, no longer laughing and in all honesty sounding quite serious, "Because you're the one I've chosen, and you won't be able to control yourself when you unleash me...at least for a very long while."

"Um...Can you please change me back to normal now? This is weired..." Rain asked Jorogumo. There was a light laugh in her head that calmed her nerves. "Of course. Give me a couple of seconds." Rain nodded and soon her small, short form was returned. Rey moved over to Rain holding her up so she didn't collasp.

"Aww, does this mean that I gotta go back to a stuffed animal!?" Okami boomed turning to Rey, who only stared at him indifferently. "I really don't care at the moment, Okami." He then looked down at Rain, "You ok?"

"Yeah....I'm more exausted from the shock nothing more." A few seconds later Rain was feeling better than ever.

Ho-o was watching each human admite their power, but her eyes caught sight of Sam putting on the second claw. She literally flew across the room and grabbed his right hand, preventing him form putting on the second claw. 'I strongly advise against doing that. Byakko is as wild as Raijin is. You could severely injure the others here if you do that' she warned, before casting a look at Rayge. 'I have, for the both of you, prepared special rooms for you to fully utilize your powers. Now, go and become one with your Yokai' she commanded, the doors on both walls opened up to reveal smaller rooms.
