While they did not succeed in plugging the hole with trash and golf balls, they DID succeed in filling the gulf with trash and golf balls. BP TO THE MAX! It's not Obama's fault for doing this, but I think it'd be better to handle the wars and economic depression this nation is going through, before he handles an environmental problem. They can't get the ships to stay there full time now, I think they're still going with the relief wells for next month though. They're getting a massive ship to filter the oil from the water.
