Pictures is important. OCG is most certainly important. Balance is actually at the bottom of my list. I try to make my cards just a tad bit OP, to add more suspense and open up gamers' strategy book. Pics would be more important just if we were working at Konami, also working at Konami it seems the balance is the last thing in the list... flawless OCG? I would like Erratas buddy Yup. Another thing about Cardmaking Jayjay here forgets (or doesnt know), is that even to Konami; card grammar isn't that important. What is important is how little ruling conflicts it has. So assuming the entire card text can be read and interpreted within the rules and the card makers intent the rest of it falls squarely on "Erratas", "BKSS" and general game rules. I have been trying to keep up with the flooding of the forum for about a week now! But, I can't always post on every one of them due to the fact that by the time I post on the next one I get a reply from the "comment-hungry" thread poster. Thus, taking time away. There are too many NEW members who haven't situated themselves into the Forum yet. A matter of fact, I didn't start commented on other people's cards until my 15th or so post. And a lot of these members that everyone actually comments on--only have 1 post and leave and/or forget about the site. usually this is due to the non-constructive feedback you give them. Every last one of us was some sort of noob at some point, and yet we make fun of our past? Also, OCG is very important, but there is no official guideline to follow by. SirtyStan Posted July 9, 2010 Report Share Posted July 9, 2010 What I find to be important in card making (Top 5): 1) Balance - Every card needs to be balanced, unless it's meant to be overpowered. You just can't have a card that says "This card cannot be removed from the field." unless it has major drawbacks, like "During each of your Standby Phases, take damage equal to this card's ATK.". You need to keep you cards balanced. 2) Pictures - All cards need proper pictures. You shouldn't have a picture of a bunny when the card name is "The Almighty Dragon". Keep it real, but stretch your imagination. You don't need mug shots of your cards. Also, try to find a good Archive. I recommend HP Doom's archive or Spikeball's Archive. They can really help your cards, even give you ideas for new ones. Finally, give credit to the source of your cars pictures. 3) OCG/Spelling and Grammar - Good cards have proper spelling and grammar. Don't make itlook like you were texting while you were creating your card. Change it from "U lose 50x0 lfe ponts for ech card in ur hnd each trn." to "During each of your Standby Phases, take 500 damage for each card in your hand.". 4) Effort - No card is even worth looking at unless the creator put effort into it. I've seen many cards during my stay at YCM, and a lot of them look like they had no effort put into them whatsoever. All the creators think is "I'll just make some pile of junk and get somebody who pitied me to fix it up into something presentable, and all I'll say is 'Thanks.'". Don't be like them. Put effort into your cards. And love, like what Inferno said. 5) Realism - If you look at a real card, it matches. Take "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" for example. Everything fits. It's a DARK monster (because it's name had "Blackwing" in it) and it's a Winged-Beast type. Make your cards look real. Put in a proper set name and number. Not just "12345-678"... Eibon1307 Posted July 11, 2010 Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 Its hard to keep up with new posts and such, as Tuner pointed out above, but when more than 5 people are on the specific forum you post and are just going back and forth between eachothers cards say "Great card" or fighting about who sucks the most its alittle annoying to those of us who want serious comments. If 5 people can view your cards, then they should be able to comment to. And not just "OCG 3/10" or whatever. I take time to be specific when I post a comment, unless the corrections I wish to point out are already pointed out. Then I rate and maybe give a rep if it is worthy of it. It's not that hard. I have noticed that alot of people who used to post cards have either left the site period, gone to a new forum, or just put away and troll other users. I have even seen some guy just go onto threads/topics and just say either "Splam, Spam, or +1 post" and then not say anything. It happened a moment ago on a thread about Feline Maidens. And I have seen him do it a ton. He only spams and doesnt even rate or comment. Things like that and those I already mentioned are SOOOOO annoying. Sure, not everyone can post a comment on all threads, but if you look at it, freaking comment!!!! Dont just say "ooooh" and leave.You know, I introduced my Best Friend (Nyarlathotep) and my Wife (BleedingBanshee) to this site, showed them it, helped them with being new and so on. But these problems are making it to where they dont wanna even deal with it. Nyar and I just posted a joint card set (Me finding the pics and editing them along with coming up with OCG, and him making the names, ATK/DEF, Type/Attributes, and level and then making the card and posting it.) and 16 people have looked at it and ignored them. (I did get a rep from a newbie saying it was great but that really doesn't count.) But alot of times if you're new and an elder member looks at your cards, since you're new they usually won't comment on it. It could be for many reasons, like OCG errors or that you're just new.
