Atheism

This is a typical religious defense towards atheists - call atheism itself a religion.

Actually, you're wrong.

Does believing that you can win a game make you religious? No. So why does believing that Science is correct and that there is no deity make you religious? A religion involves performing complex ceremonies and worshiping a divine being or a holy human. Does atheism involve this?

your totally incorrect, you make it sound as if religion means you sacrifice people for your god (complex ceremonies and worshiping a divine being or a holy human). you do not need "complex ceremonies" to be religious.

With me being brought up with no religion, besides my Pagan mother who never enforced her beliefs on me, I've often been asked whether I'm an atheist; to which I answer "No. I don't believe they exist."

In all sincerity, people are entitled to what they believe. I just don't like the people who think that they have the right to crusade abour their ecuminical views.

Let me get this straight, I'm arguing with a person who:

1. Lacks grammar.

2. Thinks that the words 'complex' and 'ceremony' imply sacrifice.

3. That "HEY GUISE, WORSHIP = SACRIFICE LOLZ!"

4. Thinks that all atheists know nothing about religion.

You also didn't answer my question.

Atheism isn't a religion. It's more of a lifestyle free of religion imo.

It's a lifestyle not held back by religion. Plus' date=' I don't have to ever think about all that. I've never even stepped foot into a church.

[/quote']

I was indoctrinated with Christianity at birth, and I didn't turn atheist until around seven or eight, and to this day I still don't know why. Regardless of what religious people say, being atheist did not affect my life at all. There is one difference between an atheist and a religious person: an atheist saves a few hours a week because he/she does not have to pray and does not have to go to church. That is the only absolute difference barring extremeists who want to do stuff and stuff, but I'd rather not get into that.

Stop being a f***ing child and now stfu .

Also im not English so stfu about my sentences ' date=' i write like i want and you wont say a s*** about it.

[/quote']

It's okay to be a child, you know.

This is a children's forum. D:

OT: Well, I want to believe that there's something out there. Believing in something is better than believing in nothing at all, right?

Believing in something is fine, and there are no problems with it. However, it's not necessarily better than believing in nothing at all. Assuming a god does not exist, would you rather be falsely believing in a supreme being or correctly denying his existance? As long as you don't force your religion unto someone else, no one really cares. The second you decide to go to African countries and make anti-gay laws, or go into Hindu territories and bomb places, that is when religion gets out of hand.

I've actually been misinterpreted on YCM. I don't hate religion with a passion, although I do believe religion is the root cause of wars and hostility. But what I hate are any religious person who tries their best to convert someone else, or to express their views in a way that can hurt another person. You see religious values being instilled in the government all the time. What is the only opposition to gay marriage? da bibl sayd iz baad. What is the only opposition to abortion? iz killen a babeh n dats morly rong.

There is no scientific or logical proof to render any of those propositions bad, but is instead based on morals and mainly the Bible (not really other religious books, tbqh). If religion would not try to be intertwined with the government, or if that one sect of Christianity wouldn't try to go to Africa and kill gays, this world would honestly be a better place. It's not the atheist's fault at all, while granted they do cause some fires. No, religion is the root cause of this anger.

I'd drone on, but it'd really just be a copy/pasta + edit of the last few paragraphs. So, I'll end that here.

Atheism is a religion about not having religion.

Atheism is not a religion, and saying that makes you sound ignorant and stupid, tbqh. Unless you'd like to define religion for me, because atheism could be a religion by your definition.

Then again, my definition of "god" is a brown animal who eats bones. So I guess, in my definition, "god" is a dog. :/

An atheist saves a few hours a week because he/she does not have to pray and does not have to go to church.

Those few hours are worth it in the end.

How are they worth it? Praying to a man/woman you can't confirm exists?

If praying makes you feel better' date=' by all means, do it. But you can't say they are worth it, or at least you can't [b']confirm[/b] they are worth it.

That is one thing I hate about religious people: they think they can ignore science (microevolution, "aliens", et cetera), yet they make up their own bullshit facts and hope everyone follows them.

I can confirm God exists, but ok.

Wanna hear?
