[spoiler=Plot]

On a little planet called Psygwynt, in a vast ocean that touches the ends of the skies, there was an even littler island called Zejlantar, or in the now mostly forgotten language once widely spoke on the island, ‘land of the ancients.’ On this island lived a group of beings known as the A’lanti. The A’lanti were rather similar to what you know as ‘humans’, indeed, with minor differences they appeared the exact same as the humans on our planet, commonly called ‘Earth’.

But the A’lanti weren’t the same as the humans on our planet, or indeed any other beings on Psygwynt. They believed in gods, like any other race of sentient beings did; Aardeter, the earth eater, Hemelvoels, the sky riser, Mortawelach, the sea calmer, Asemvuur, the fire breather, Soekbloed, the blood seeker, Ystermes, the iron cutter, and the leader of the gods, Skaduwee, the shadow caster. These gods were known as the Ancients and were thought to be A’lanti who had ascended from the mortal plane eons ago. Zeljantar, despite its tiny stature, was home to a dozen clans of A’lanti. These clans respected each other’s land and wars between the clans were scarce. These clans were linked by their gods and their similar needs.

At the age of 14 was when the A’lanti became different from humans or any other being. There was a ceremony once a year in each clan where the spirit chief, known in the A’lanti tongue as Jefdagür, would take all children in his clan who had reached the age of fourteen in the past year. He would see into their souls and find the power of one of the gods within them. After it was found, the power would be awakened. Most children would be given the power of the sea by Mortawelach, the power of the sky and the storm by Hemelvoels, the power of flame by Asemvuur, or the power of the land by Aardeter. Only a few children each year were given the power of iron by Ystermes or the power of the dead by Soekbloed. Exactly one with the shadow powers of Skaduwee was ever alive in one clan, and this was the clan’s chieftain, or Jefskad.

The A’lanti lived a simple life in this manner for thousands of years, with peace reigning for much of the time, except for the Great Clan War, but that is a story for another time. That is, until the fateful day when they arrived.

It was 900 years after the Great Clan War. A Mortawelach-blessed fisherman from a coastal clan spotted a massive moving object coming straight for the Zeljantar coast. All of the Jefskad and Jefdagür were alerted and gathered their best warriors to fight the massive object.

But fighting wasn’t necessary, or so it seemed. A group of white-clad beings stepped out of the massive wooden structure, with long robes and tall cylindrical hats. They called themselves the Bandar and claimed they were the messengers of the mighty god known only as the Holy One who was the protector of the light and justice. This confused the A’lanti chieftains. Nowhere in any of their legends did it mention a god of light, especially with such a strange name.

But the Jefskad had no reason to argue, it seems. Legends tell that where the Bandar walked, crops popped up like norflies (which, by the way, despite their name, are a type of grasshopper) and when they waved their arms, fattened animals gathered and cooked themselves. Truly the A’lanti viewed these men as gods.

But not all A’lanti thought like this. The clan known as the Zelsharks for their incredible brutality but notable lack of Mortawelach blood, declared war on the Bandar, calling them ‘evil spirits that shall spell the doom of Zeljantar,’ as well as any A’lanti who allied themselves with them.

The A’lanti could have easily fought them off; it was a battle on a scale of 11 to 1, a mere group of children could win with those odds. But the Bandar insisted on interfering. Instead of mercifully letting the Zelsharks live on the odds that they didn’t attack, the Bandar brutally murdered them all. But the A’lanti didn’t see them as murderers, they saw them as gods.

Fast forward one thousand years. The Bandar religion has taken a stranglehold on Zeljantar, and unsurprisingly, the Zelsharks were right. The Bandar publicly execute anyone who believes in the old A’lanti tradition. The advent of airships overpopulated the little island with whiteskin Bandar fools. Most A’lanti hate the Bandars, but can do nothing to the more technologically advanced race, especially with no awakened powers to use. However, a few Jefdagür still remain, practicing their religion in secret. Meanwhile, in a remote forest on the corner of the island, a rebellion has started…

[spoiler=Setting]

The story takes place in a Victorian-esque era. Zeppelins and other such airships are still around and working just fine. Hot air balloons are also common.

As for location, most of the early story will take place on Zeljantar. Zeljantar is an island approximately the size of Iceland, though it is significantly more tropical. It is in a location on its planet around the location of Uruguay on Earth and is warm and nice. It is a popular vacation location for Bandar, so keep that in mind. A good majority of flora and fauna will be corruptions of what we have here on earth, e.g the norflies. However, with the exception of a few minor tropical forests on the edges of the island, it is mainly resorts and one large Victorian city with a large Bandar headquarters there.

Later on it will probably reach the Bandar country, which is approximately in the location of France in a continent similar to Europe. The terrain, landmarks etc. will be similar to Victorian era France, though under a more religious tone.

Don’t powerplay or god-mod, that’s just not cool.

No OOC arguing with anyone. Got a beef, use PM, not my thread.
