Who are YOU, good sir?

Two things, both were already said. One, there is a Display Name Change history in your profile, and most likely your avatar will give away who you are. And if there are any uncertainties, even without the history tab, you can just check your friend's list to see who the supposed person is, or look at their "wall" or "status", et cetera. Two, you are not required to change your name. Once per month is fine (I would have preferred once per three months like it SHOULD have been, but oh well), and it won't cause a major amount of confusion.

Two, if you change your name, your login details stay the same. For example, my username is currently Dark. I log in with the username Dark and the password... you get it. If I were to change my name to "agueb aoei0ga", I would still log in with the username Dark. There is a difference between your username and your profile name. In my case right now, both my user and profile names are Dark. In the case I showed, my username was Dark, and my profile name was whatever I wrote. As such, if you change your profile name to something else, no one can steal either. In the scenario I depicted, no one could make a username as Dark or agueb aoei0ga, and no one could make a display name as Dark or agueb aoei0ga.

Why can't everyone just keep their damn name the same? I always thought it was highly irregular that members of this forum seemed entitled to name changes when every other forum I've visited this certainly wasn't the case.

Because, Hikaru, appearently its a running gag.

Or people just want to add more "flare" to there username.

........Or something like that. I dont really know

@Chaos: Why is it bad to deny something nice to the members just because you don't see a use for it?

There are many other members who see a use for it, and name changes in no way harm anyone. If you want to know who someone is, just look in their profile.

Because it takes far too much time to look up who someone used to be by looking at their profile. We should be able to know who is responding to our topics at a glance, not after digging though their profile. Plus, there is no reason why you can't just stick with a name. It's not so much the name that's the problem, though. It's the mentality behind it. "Oh, I like Twilight! I'm gonna make a Twilight related name! Oh noes! I hate Twilight now! I'm gonna change my name so it reflects my disliking of Twilight! Now I like Harry Potter! ect." Names aren't something that should be changed at a whim. That's what everything else you can ****ing customize is for.

The new sytem is perfectly fine as long as people don't abuse it like they did before the old "1 name change and that's it" rule.

I was actually happy to have it implemented. I could FINALLY capitilize the "E" and "M" in my username without PMing a Super. I swear, I must have been the only member with over 7000 posts whose name was lowercased.... DX

Something like that I don't mind, because it's not really changing your name, more like fixing punctuation errors. And for that I would have gladly changed it for you.
