The YCM Newspaper

 

Welcome to The YCM Newspaper SunShine. Ive been thinking lf this idea for a few weeks so I decided to start it, and I also got help from Ghost Rider.

The YCM Newspaper SunShine comes out every 2 weeks on Fridays, which gives us enough time to write our stories, get the fun zone ready, make the interview and make the comic. The newspaper is free for now and will be free for a long time. Have a nice time.

The pages will be :

 

Page 1 : The YCM Discussions

2-4 Discussions will be added here about YCM. This page will have the most writing overall.

Its also a fun way to start reading the newspaper and finding out some stuff.

 

Page 2 : The Big Interview

I will pm a famous member if they want to be interview, if they do once the interview is done I will add it to the newspaper.

It wont be short but it wont be too long.

 

Page 3 : The Fun Zone

For this you will have to find out in the newspaper yourself ;D

 

Page 4 : Comics

One of the workers will make this or else we will find funny ones on the internet.

 

Page 5 : The Quizz

A quizz and if you get all the questions right you will get a prize

 

Page 6 : Advertisement

We will advertise any of your threads or forums.

YCM Newspaper SunShine -Issue 1- Friday 13th August 2010

Is the new YCM, updated or worse? That's a good question, but the I believe that it's all personal opinion. It seems as if we are divided some like the new "Facebook" look, while others abhor it; then there are those members who some of the new features, but hate the others. I am in the third group.

 

The Good

One of the new features is commenting on profiles. Members are responding positively to this feature, and are enjoying commenting on others' "Statuses". The status updates are visible on members' profiles and are also linked to the Board Index underneath the "Status Update" subsection on the right side of the screen. Another feature I like is the ability to see other members' friends, this is also seen on a Members' profile. This is a nice way to see if you have mutual friends with someone you know. Another great update is name changing, in the old YCM you had only one name change, in the updated version you can change your name every three months.

 

The Bad

Members have clearly made a dislike with the new reputation system. You can no longer see a members' reputation on their posts (you have to look on their profiles), and you can't give reasons for why you rep'd or neg'd someone. Also you can no longer tell who rep'd you. Finally, YCMaker took out the "Neutural" rep. The points system was reset, which meant everyone that saved the 1000's of points they earned, lost them with the new update. Thirdly, most members do not like the skin, saying that the blue "Burns their eyes", but it has been rumored that YCMaker is making a new skin. Like all updates (for any site) the new upgrade brought gitches a-plenty. The infamous "PM Glitch" that causes PM's to randomly leave a blue screen around older messages, has caused problems for RP's that ask for PM'd applications.

 

So is the "Update" good or bad? It's your call!

 

WWD = Written by LeoMence

Worldwide Duel, a new creation, in a sense, but is it really all that great? Today, I will go in full detail into how this Worldwide Duel will affect YCM, and other CCGs around it.

 

Now, how it will affect CCGs. Before this, there were 3 active CCGs: Leo’s CCG, in the Clubs and Organizations part of YCM, Guybrush Threepwood TACG which set foot in RC and YCCG, the original CCG, which had began to reside in RC. Guybrush Threepwood had his CCG dead, before Worldwide Duel and been created. YCCG, the original CCG, was put on hold, so he could help manage the WWD. Leo’s CCG, has still been going on strong, with new members and a tournament down, it doesn’t seem they have been affected. But, I forgot to mention, Byakk’s (with 2 k people) CCG, The Neo Card Game. It is still in the early stages, but appears to have great potential.

 

WWD, as people call it, features TCG cards combined with custom cards, to create this duelling format. Some people might argue that in a CCG, you use custom cards only. That is correct for some CCGs, but some, like WWD are variants of the TCG. WWD has 4 duellist types: City Duellist, Street Duellist, Judge Duellist and Prime Judge. There are many Street Duellists in the WWD, due to the ability to use any cards, while City Duellists have the advantage of not having to have as many duels to submit cards.

 

WWD started as a great success, with a lot of duelling going on, and the first WWD update expected soon, which will feature some interesting updates, like the removal of Machina Fortress from the .Set file.I honestly see WWD helping RC and the card making skills in the long run as it teaches people how to play the game with custom cards, and learn the game and to have better knowledge with the game, which can make their card making skills better. That is how I became good at card making, I learned how to play the game, and began to make good cards.

 

Hopefully we can see more from WWD, but as we can all see, it has gotten off to a great start!

A.Joshua, 17, Male, NJ, USA.

 

Q.What do you like to do in real life?

A.Read Ted Dekker and the like, Study Psychology, Theology, and Cryptozoology, watch History, Discovery, and Science /channel, watch Through the Wormhole, with Morgan Freeman, and Create plots for books/FFs/RPs.

 

Q.Do you have any pets?

A.No

 

Q.How did you come across YCM?

A.I searched 'Yugioh Card Maker' on Google.

 

Q.Do you like the changes made to YCM?

A.Yes. At least it does not lag.

 

Q.Why did you change your username to Tainted Black?

A.Because, I wanted to go with the theme of a Fallen being. Someone who has fallen from grace. You have to read my poem by the same name to complete this name. the word Black comes from my old name, Marsuvees Black. He's a villain in my favorite books. Everyone knew me as Black, so Tainted Black was born, and being tainted to a black color makes sense.

 

Q.By your username it seems tho your favorite color is black. I this true?

A.Not that I'm Emo, but black is my favorite clothing color. Gym Shorts, and a T-shirt with my favorite Bands (Like Skillet) on it. No, My favorite color is Green.

 

Q.What would you do to YCM if you became a mod?

A.Whatever I was called to do. For General, I'd try to clean up the spam in there. For RP, I'd keep the RPs in line, and try to increase their quality. Also, I would try to get a Basic section for RPers who can't do Advanced RPing yet.

 

Q.Have you ever applied to become a Mod? If so, why do you want to be a mod? If not , why do you not want to be a mod?

A.I have. I want to be a Roleplay mod, so, hopefully, I can increase the quality of RPs, and be a fair mod. I would also like to be a General mod, as there is not one, so I can kill the spam.

 

Q.What tips would you tell to New Members, that would make them successful on this Forum?

A.Be polite, use good grammar, join clubs, and just be cordial.

 

Q.What lessons have you learned from YCM, that'll help you become a productive member of society in real life?

A.Flaming is eternal, is a big one.

 

Q.What is your favorite section in YCM?

A.Clubs. I would say Roleplaying, but the RPs have gone downhill.

 

Q.Are you proud of your club, and why?

A.Very! Because, it is something on here that I personally took care of, and watched bloom into popularity.

 

Q.If your RP Club got locked what other different club would you make?

A.I dunno. I've made Bleach and Fire Emblem clubs that both failed, so I think I'd just go to the other clubs.

 

Q.What made you make your RP Club?

A.Technically, I did not make it, only the remake. It was made as a way to rally good RPers.

 

Q.Since you do a lot of Roleplaying, what has been your favorite roleplay (to date) that you have been involved in?

A.Hmm.... The Club War RP that I co-ran with Pikachu, Phantom Roxas, Nexev, Twig, and Ice.

 

Q.Besides YCM, what are you favorite internet sites?

A.Mangastream, Youtube, Deviantart, RPuniverse.mybbest.

[spoiler=Funny Joke]While walking down the street one day a "Member of Parliament" is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter. 'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'

'No problem, just let me in,' says the man.

'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.'

'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the MP.

'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.'And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & nice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises....The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him

'Now it's time to visit heaven.'

So, 24 hours pass with the MP joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.'

The MP reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.'

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder.

'I don't understand,' stammers the MP. 'Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?'

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday, we were campaigning.. ...

Today, you voted."

That's right, you had the idea 2 weeks ago. Did you make a thread about it? No, you just cannot handle the fact that somebody made it before you.

 

So you told him to shut the f*** up. Shut the f*** up? Seriously? Maybe you should learn not to use those kinds of abbreviations, mainly because they make you look...scratch that, you're already stupid. Maybe you should take your own advice and shut the f*** up yourself?
