Hi there!

After I finally got the validation done, I'm gonna show you my first two cards now. Since my registration last week I had a lot of time to think about improvements and I hope they do work.

There are some other Movie Hero cards I'm gonna finish this week and enough ideas for a lot more to come. Still I don't know whether there will be enough ideas for a whole set and if they'll work as a whole. We'll see.

Harmonica

Lore: This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card "Moaning Harp". When this card is Ritual Summoned destroy 2 monsters your opponent controls.

Inspired by the following epic dialogue: "Did you bring a horse for me?” - “Looks like we’re shy one horse.” - “You brought two too many.”

 

Captain Jack Sparrow

Lore: This card is also treated as a Zombie-Type monster. When this card attacks, place it on your opponent's field in face-up Attack Position after Damage Step. If there is no unoccupied Monster Card Zone, destroy 1 monster your opponent controls with the lowest DEF. Place this card on that Monster Card Zone in face-up Attack Position. Your opponent takes control of this card.

Inspired by the following dialogue, characterizing his whole personality: "Whose side is Jack on?" - "At the moment?"

Doc Brown

Lore: Double any effect of a Spell Card in your Field. If the effect cannot be doubled negate it.

That's what weird science is all about, you have the chance of improvement but if this does not work the whole thing will not work.

 

Count Dracula

Lore: This card can only be Tribute Summoned. This card cannot be destroyed in face-up Attack or Defense Position by a Monster Attack. When this card inflicts damage to a Monster increase its ATK by half the damage in your next turn. When this card inflicts damage to your Opponent you gain half of the Life Points substracted. When "As Time Goes By" is on the field increase this card's ATK and DEF for every Time Counter instead of decreasing it.

Lore: When this card is attacked, inflict the attacking monster's ATK as Battle Damage to your opponent.

Lore: When "Love Interest" would be destroyed, destroy this card instead. When "Love Interest" is Removed From Play, destroy an opponent monster and Remove From Play this card too.

Of all the Playing Fields in the world, she [Love Interest] walks into mine.

Lore: When this card Declares Attack on an opponent monster you can choose every monster in the Field except the monster this card Declared Attack on to play the attack. When an opponent monster Declares Attack on this card you can choose every monster in the Field except the monster which Declared Attack to face the attack. Place 1 Favor Counter on every monster you choose. Every monster you control with 1 Favor Counter on it cannot be chosen again. For X Favor Counters on an opponent monster toss X Coins and call them. When you call them wrong this card is destroyed.

Can you refuse?

 

Dr. Henry W. Jones Jr.

Lore: When this card is summoned, you can Special Summon 2 Level 3 or lower monsters from your Graveyard. Place 1 Archaeology Counter per turn on those monsters. When "As Time Goes By" is on the field those monsters lose 1 Level for every Archaeology Counter on them.

Okay, it's more lke a The Mummy effect. Hope you don't care.

Beatrix Kiddo

Lore: When this card is destroyed for the first time place 1 Vendetta Counter on every monster your opponent controls. Remove this card from your Graveyard to your deck at the end of the turn. Shuffle your deck. When you summon this card the second time while cards with a Vendetta Counter are still on your opponent's field, destroy those cards.

It seems to be simple to reenact a vendetta story with YGO cards' effects.

 

The Blind Man

Lore: You can change this card's type at the end of every round, choose between Warrior and Beast Warrior Type. This card is not affected by any effect. When this card does not attack in your turn, it can Direct Attack your opponent in your next turn.

Lore: Activate only if you control exactly 1 monster. Ritual Summon 1 "Harmonica" from your hand or deck in face-up Attack Position without destroying any other card than this.

Western Heroes always arrive when there are needed the most.

 

A Compass That Doesn't Point North

Lore: This card can only be equipped to a "Captain Jack Sparrow" you control. Negate that card's effect. Also negate every Trap Card's, Spell Card's or Monster Card's effect affecting battle between monsters in respective adjacent Card Zones.

A compass doesn't pointing north has to create some confusion.

Lore: This card can only be equipped to a "Doc Brown" you control. Destroy 1 LIGHT Monster and 1 Thunder-Type Monster you control to add your Graveyard to your Deck, shuffle it. Destroy 1 LIGHT Monster you control and 1 Thunder-Type Monster your opponent controls or 1 LIGHT Monster your opponent controls and 1 Thunder-Type Monster you control to let both of you add your graveyards to your decks and shuffle them.

What will happen if you turn back time?

 

Love Interest

Lore: As long as this card remains face-up on the field, place 1 Love Interest Counter on each Monster you control. As long as this card remains on the field, Monsters with a Love Interest Counter gain 500 ATK. When this card is destroyed Monsters with a Love Interest Counter lose 500 ATK as long as they remain on the field.

Mexican Standoff

Lore: Activate only if you control the same number of monsters as your opponent does. When an opponent Monster Declares Attack on a monster you control toss a coin and call it. When you call it right destroy the opponent monster, when you call it wrong destroy the attacked monster you control.

It's such a classic one.

 

As Time Goes By

Lore: When this card is equipped to a "Rick Blaine" you control, "Rick Blaine" is unaffected by this card's effect. Place 1 Time Counter every turn on every Monster on the field. For every Time Counter on a monster decrease its ATK and DEF by 100. As long as "Love Interest" is on the Field, every turn place 1 Time Counter on it. For every Time Counter, "Love Interest" increases monsters ATK by 100 less. When there are 5 Time Counters on "Love Interest" Remove it From Play.

No matter what the future brings.

Lore: This card can only be equipped to a "Dr. Henry W. Jones Jr." you control. When a monster attacks on the same turn you summoned it increase its ATK by 1000. When a monster is on the field for more than 1 turn place a Wear Counter on it for every time it attacks or is attacked. For every wear counter on a monster it loses 100 ATK. If "As Time Goes by" is on the field your monsters are not affected by that card's effect.

A cookie for the first one who knows which movie this quote is from. A cake for the scene (The cake is not a lie!). I used the strange capital letters to emphasize the terms.

Lore: "Dr. Henry W. Jones Jr." + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

This card cannot be attacked by DIVINE monsters. Effects of DIVINE monsters does not affect this card. Remove 1 LIGHT monster you control From Play to destroy 1 opponent monster in the field.

Indi resists God more than one time. For the second effect I thought of the light trap from the beginning of the first movie.

You have to patient, my friend :) If you look at the (rather boring) title and see a 1 Star member (without an avatar btw... that's the first thing you should improve :P), most people don't think it's worth to give it a comment or even a watch. And about the "visual improved" stuff: Maybe you forgot the image tag [*img][/img] (without the star)? Other than that, I have no idea why it shouldn't work...

 

But that aside, let's look at the cards: Of course, the OCG needs work, and I'm not the one to talk because mine is pretty bad as well, but I'll give it a try:

 

Harmonica:

This card can only be Special Summoned by the effect of "Moaning Harp". Two too many: When this card is Summoned, destroy 2 cards your opponent controls.

 

Captain Jack Sparrow:

When this card attacks, place it on an unoccupied Monster Card Zone on your opponents side of the field in face-up Attack Position after Damage Step. If there is no unoccupied Monster Card Zone, destroy 1 of your opponent's monsters with the lowest DEF value. Now Place this card on that Monster Card Zone in face-up Attack Position. Your opponent takes control of this monster.

 

Okay, I'm really not sure about this... it may be better, but I guess it's still wrong. Just what I can say for sure:

vacant = unoccupied

Card Zone = Monster Card Zone

"After Damage Step" is important, because then he couldn't even attack without switching sides.

 

The rest is minor stuff or way to complicated for me :lol:

 

Moaning Harp:

Activate only if you control exactly 1 monster. Special Summon 1 "Harmonica" (from where? Deck, hand, Graveyard? Needs to be specified) in face-up Attack Position.

 

A Compass that doesn't point north:

This card can only be equipped to a "Captain Jack Sparrow" you control on the Field. Negate that cards effect.

 

"On the field" is unnecessary, because "you control" already implements that... though I do it myself sometimes.

 

 

Now we got that out of the way, let's look at the cards itself ;)

 

The pictures for the two monsters and the equip Spell are insanely awesome, though the realistic look doesn't really suit Yugioh... well, it's a matter of opinion, I really like them :) The picture on "Moaning Harp" is black and white... not very charming. "Harmonica"'s effect is a bit dull, could need some improvements and more creativity. Jack Sparrows effect on the other hand is pretty unique and actually fits him and his twisted personality, though with this drawback you could give him a little more ATK and DEF. Also "Undead" is no real Type in YGO, "Zombie" or "Warrior" would do better (you can even make him both by giving him the additional effect "this card is also treated as a X-Type monster").

Moaning Harp is... well, okay by itself, but you could also make "Harmonica" a Ritual Monster and this one his Ritual Spell Card... if you know what I mean. It would definitely fit. The compass is okay, negating the negative side of Jack, but it's pretty boring this way. It could also improve his capabilities by increasing his ATK or giving him an additional effect when this card is equipped to him.

 

Anyways, for your first cards, those are pretty good, and I would like to see more ;)

I tried to implement every suggestion you did except the Moaning Harp picture which is quite cool. I will wonder on how to bring some color in this picture.

 

But that aside, let's look at the cards: Of course, the OCG needs work, and I'm not the one to talk because mine is pretty bad as well, but I'll give it a try:

You want to tell me your OCG is bad? I have seen your Alice Set, it's just great. When you say you are not into OCG is there anyone who is?

Try to guess the Love Interest actress' name. It looks so 60s that it's really hard to see.

For now I just want to say that Doc Browns effect is pretty interesting, it fits him, and the picture is just epic :lol: Same goes for Dracula, though the OCG on that card is a whole corner off, but you'll get the hang of it sooner or later. The DeLorean is good, I like the effect, though it's very specific and hard to pull off. The picture could use some more epicness though. Love interest is a nice use of Counters, fits the name... but hell I can't figure out the name of that actress :/ Mexican Standoff is classic, the picture fits (though a bit realistic for a YGO card), the effect is nice and unique.

 

Yep, you're definitely getting better, keep it up ;)

Wow, this is getting better and better The effects are really something (new and original, but also something), pictures are well chosen... and this Corleone kicks major butt! Though the OCg on that card is extremely far from how it should sound like... would take me too long to fix it now, I'll do it anytime later. Another great card is Miss "Kill the Bill" Beatrix (I didn't even now her name). Her effect is not only new, it [i]is[/i] simply her and the role she fulfills in the movies. Very nice. And you actually managed to pull of a Synchro Monster... I'm impressed Anti-Divine wouldn't find much use in the TCG... but who cares, I like it

I wondered about major butt kicking Corleone's effect for hours. But it seems to be too hard for me and I don't know any similar card to compare.

Today I gave it a second try to improve the visual style of some cards. It worked and it worked also to show them here. Yeay! Plus I finally managed to get some colour in the Moaning Harp picture. Hope you like it.
