Darth Duelist
No offense, but this is a kind of a racist post.. White? Sorry, I'm living in Canada, so I don't know much about the Republicans. All I know is that they are a political party. But yes, I agree with you. Canada is a constitutional monarchy so we are partly ruled by the queen. The parties we have are: Conservatives [currently in power] Liberals [enemy of Conservatives] New Democratic Party [NDP] Green [no seats to date] America must be awesome. I've only been in montana. Dark
I do apologize for my discrimination against [s]idiots[/s] Republicans, but I stopped watching the video when it said "FOX" at the bottom. Can you please summarize what the video was about? From my knowledge, the 14th amendment has something to do with citizenship, or something to that effect. Hydra of Ages
Republicans are just conservatives. This isn't a view shared by all of them, just some nutjobs.
Not quite. The Republican party and the Conversvative party of Canada aren't directly equatable. They share similar views on some topics, but are vastly different in others. Same thing with the Liberals and Democrats- As an example, as a Canadian citizen, I don't particularly like the Liberal party. Out of the American political parties, on the other hand, I agree almost point-for-point with the Dems.
I do apologize for my discrimination against [s]idiots[/s] Republicans, but I stopped watching the video when it said "FOX" at the bottom.
I didn't watch it either, but I believe I recognize the clip. These republicans wish to remove a part of the 14th Amendment (which describes a citizen of the USA as any person born within the USA). Their argument for this change is that terrorist organizations could send a couple there, have a child (and have them receive citizenship in this manner), then return to their homecountry and have that child indoctrinated. Then, say, thirty years later, send the child back as an American citizen and have them blow stuff up. ...Which is rather ludicrous, considering it would be just far easier for said terrorist organizations to just recruit someone who's already an American citizen. Fundamentalists of all sorts lurk everywhere, if you went looking for them, they wouldn't be too hard to find. There's a separate section who don't want to remove that part of the amendment, but change it to disclude the children of illegal immigrants. The reasoning here is than an 'achor baby' could get their parents immigrated through the system, using the method American citizens have available to them to bring family to their country. This is even more ludicrous because it would take several decades for it to bear any fruit; the parents would be nearing their seventies before they returned as citizens. Dr. Cakey
There's a separate section who don't want to remove that part of the amendment, but change it to disclude the children of illegal immigrants.
It's ridiculous that someone who immigrates to America would actually expect to become a citizen. In fact, we should just execute anyone who comes here illegally. Let's clarify. Republicans aren't necessarily racist. A number of Republican leaders are, and most of those who represent the Republican Party twist the truth or outright lie to gain political advantage. Republicans could be a metaphor for the capitalist pyramid, with a small number of people carrying the largest amount of wealth (in this case, immorality), and the majority just [s]misinformed[/s] conservative. By contrast, the Democratic leaders are relatively moderate, attempting to regulate an existing capitalist status quo, while the surging masses of Democrats are all elitist, baby-killing Socialists. If you couldn't guess, I'm a liberal Democrat.
Sparta™
I believe that we should change the 14th amendment, mainly because of Illegal Immigration. If their parents or the parent wasn't born in America and came here illegally, then why should the child be considered an American citizen? That's like saying a woman has a baby in someones house and the owner of the house must own the baby because it was made on his property.
Hydra of Ages
I believe that we should change the 14th amendment, mainly because of Illegal Immigration. If their parents or the parent wasn't born in America and came here illegally, then why should the child be considered an American citizen?
Because then you'd develop a subculture of underpaid, underprivileged people who have no rights according to your constitution, who have no route to improving their impoverished state and exist only to provide cheap labor for American companies. Last time that happened in America, you had a civil war over it. As it is right now, at least illegal immigrants disappear after one generation. If you cut off that, then they'd just keep building up. I'm going to say it right now. America is never going to solve illegal immigration. Your border is too big, and the difference in class between the countries is too great. Finding people who want to stay hidden and don't exist as far as the law is concerned is nigh-impossible with the level of individual freedom America cherishes. If they want to reduce Illegal Immigration, they're going about it the wrong way. What they SHOULD do, is: A: Help make Mexico less crappy. and B: Make legal immigration easier for Mexicans.
