PrimalFear
I'm sorry but to everyone here that thinks America deserved what happened on 9/11/01, f*** off!!! I don't care mods warn me but when someone implies that my uncle deserved to die for the mistakes of the american goverment or whatever useless garbage you guys can come up with it really pisses me off. Its not just my uncle their where thousands upon thousands of people who where effected by this not just the ones who died but the ones that had family members who died. Get a fricken heart and think about what you say or who you might hurt before you say the crap that comes out of your mouths. I will admit that I am an American, I can also admit how stupid our goverment is and was. But to come on here and say thousands of innocent people deserved to die, wether joking, serious or just to get a rise out of someone is completely and uderly disturbing. You should be a shamed of yourselves.

PrimalFear
To be honest, their is only two other disasters in the US history compareable to this, Pearl Harbor and the Iraq War. The Iraq war I was an am still totally against, and I hate our goverment for just now pulling our troops out. But you also must understand to an American this was a huge disaster for us, someone who doesn't live here woulnd't understand unless it happened to you. Its not something thats easy to explain to others and thinking about it still drives me to nightmares, and I am 21 years old. It sad to think that people cannot understand such a tragety and say that the americans deserved it or are overeacting. The goverment after words might have by starting the war but the innocent american civilian population are not overeacting.
J-Max
Luna, those Disasters are mostly natural. Every year I offer my condolences to the victims of the Holocaust. Hitler killed thousands of Jews and those dead are remembered. One thing i've learnt about America is that they have a lot of pride. God rest the victims of 9/
FTW (For The Wynn)
No one's saying you deserved it, but i think you need to understand that there have been far worse disasters in history.
Yeah, you're right, there are plenty of disasters that are far worse. It sucks. Still, just like everyone else mourns disasters in their countries so we too mourn our own disasters. I really don't care how many people want the US to fail, because they'll fall with us. I'm not saying that the US is the controller of the world, we obviously aren't, I mean that we are all so economically connected that if one falls it causes a domino effect. That's why everyone is worried about Greece. Anyway, all of you have the right to mourn any disaster that you wish. Just let us mourn this. In fact, if this wasn't so publicized, there wouldn't be any arguments like this. I regret that, but all of this will fade into antiquity eventually. Just let it go. There are many disasters and horrors in US history that are just as bad. To name a few, The Revolutionary War, The Civil War, WW1 & 2, Great Depression, The Spanish Inquisition, etc. But there are far, far more outside of US history. For example, the last 500 years in Africa. Or the Crusades. Or what Russia does to all its satellite countries. Perspective matters in these arguments. PrimalFear
Hey Crab Helmet Shut up I wasn't talking to you!!! I don't care to dignify myself to a self righteous, selfcentered person like yourself. I know my history quite well and I also know the history of 9/11 quite well. I was nearly 4 blocks away when it happened, not to mention my Uncle was one of the firefighters who died their. I could careless what you have to say politic wise or for that matter anything. If you cannot understand how I feel or how other Americans feel you have your opinion, but that doesn't mean you have the right to degrade other peoples feeling and what they believe. If you cannot understand how I feel or how other Americans feel you have your opinion, but that doesn't mean you have the right to degrade other peoples feeling and what they believe.
This isn't a matter that is subject to debate or subjective opinions; it is an objective fact that, no, an isolated incident of three thousand people dying was not the worst disaster ever to befall America, second only to the Iraq War (under 5000 American deaths) and Pearl Harbor (under 3000). In fact, the Iraq War and Pearl Harbor shouldn't be making the top three worst American disasters either. Almost sixty thousand Americans died in the Vietnam War, which America lost, and that's not counting all the non-Americans who died on either side. Similarly, thirty-six thousand Americans died in the Korean War. Over four hundred thousand Americans were killed in the second world war; of those, fewer than two thousand five hundred died at Pearl Harbor. In case your math is as poor as your history, that's less than one percent of the war's American casualties. How far back do you want me to go? World War I: over a hundred thousand American deaths. The Mexican-American War: over ten thousand American deaths. And then there's the American Civil War. Over a hundred thousand were killed... if you only count Americans on the Union side and only count those killed in action. The total American casualties exceed six hundred thousand. But go on, keep telling yourself that an isolated event in which a few thousand died was so much worse than wars that lasted years and years and resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands. After all, you were nearly four blocks away, which is obviously what determines how big a natural disaster something is, because you're the center of the universe. And besides, you weren't talking to those silly arrogant people with their "history" and "facts" and other such nonsense; your own uninformed delusions are what matters here. Tentacruel
Apparently I'm the same age as Dark But anyway, YCM is usually not mature enough to handle it regardless of what it is. And btw, the deaths in the Vietnam war happened over the span of 10 years. More Americans die in car crashes every year. [/random fact] Edit: Nvm, not more, but almost as many. If you cannot agree you can't thats you opinion leave me and the others who agree to believe what we want and our opinions and go back to trolling and flamming the members of YCM like you normally do!!! FTW (For The Wynn)
I think you all miss the key difference here. The major difference between 9/11, car crashes and war is this: 1. Car crashes are the result of unfortunate luck or fate or whatever you call it. 2. War is for the most part unnecessary barbarism 3. 9/11 was an act of terrorism, meant to make the US afraid and mad and provoke an attack. Which it did. Kinda like trolling, except 1000000x worse. They are all horrible, but of the 3 the worst is number 3. But that isn't why we mourn. We mourn because of what we lost that day, not just the people we lost but the feeling of safety in our own borders. Statistics only tell one side of the story Crab, but if we want to go into statistics I'll pull up all the birth rates around the world for the last 200 years. If I do that then you'll find that the population is going up.
