JG.
You may only use "God" when referring to the Christian god, or any god whose name is actually "God". "As an atheist, I don't believe in a god, however, many of my friends do. I have this one Muslim friend, her name is Alie, and she believes in a god. She says that her parents pray to Allah every day, and I feel like their god is not explained well enough in the Koran. I also have a Catholic friend, her name Alexandra. She's pretty chill, but she keeps talking about how she prays to God in church on Sundays. It gets annoying after awhile. Some Satanists believe and worship Satan, but also hold a belief towards the Biblical God. This paragraph, in the name of the Holy God, shows you how to properly use the word "god", whether the "g" should be capitalized or not."
Fair enough. Zeppeli Gyro Supreme
Would this happen to be a topic in which I was participating, because this happened to me just a few days ago...?
Umbra
I capitalize God when referring to an entity or person by that name, just as I would do with any other name. When talking about a god or gods in a general manner, I leave it uncapitalized, as I would do with any other noun. I don't see what the issue is. However, would you agree with this statement: "The God of Pastafarianism is the Flying Spaghetti Monster." or this one?: "The god of Pastafarianism is the Flying Spaghetti Monster." Umbra
The latter, unless the former refers to a title belonging to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Dark
Yeah, so you're pretty much spot-on regarding the grammar discrepancies between God and god. You basically restated my post and put it into simpler terms, something I often have a difficult time doing. AND YET [s]CHRISTIAN[/s] PEOPLE STILL COMPLAIN THAT GOD IS NOT CAPITALIZED! Yasu
Thank you. By now we are all aware of how Christianity makes people so deathly irrational and incapable of objective thinking.
