Daft Innovation
Hi, I figured there isn't a 'technical difficulties' forum around here, so imma post it here. I can't be bothered to go to a PC forum or anything either...but if I must, I shall... Recently my PC has been auto-restarting every hour or so, and it's very frustrating. Now I read a tutorial and have disabled auto-restarting, but now the BSOD pops up. What do I do next?
Limited Edition KING
This could have been under the Questions and Help forum. I honestly don't know what to do, the only suggestion I can offer is to buy a new PC. Or look in your phone book and call a computer technician/programmer/expert etc to help out with your problem. -SupernovA-
When it nears the point where your pc restarts, a simple attempt at fixing it would be to open your command prompt and entering the command "shutdown -a". It could be a infection on your PC that's doing it, or it's just overheating and being forced to restart. To figure this out, start up your computer in safe mode, if it still restarts on its own at the hour mark it might be a hardware issue and in that case you should stop turning it on before you damage something else, and get it fixed. If it doesn't, it could be an infection on your PC that starts up along with your normal OS bootup, type in "msconfig" in your start menu search bar and look for anything that is starting up that looks suspicious (careful not to disable something important). Then restart and boot it up normally and see if it stops (since you say it takes an hour this would seem time consuming to me but meh). This is just a few things you could try and it's surely not a definite solution to figure out what's going on with your PC, but I hope it helps to some extent. I honestly don't know what to do, the only suggestion I can offer is to buy a new PC. If all else fails as long as it isn't a hardware issue, he just needs to restore it to the factory image with an install disk. He doesn't have to waste money on a whole new PC. Cin
It might be best to see if you can restart it in Safe Mode/Start With Networking, you should be able to run anti virus software or restore your machine. (For example if you're running Windows 7 it Automatically makes a restore point everytime it updates, for me I have several a day) Or you could Ctrl+Alt+Del in above mentioned mode, and run through the list of processes, sometimes the virus will run a process and deactivating it will give you opportunity to attack, but google every single one on the list your unsure about. Until you mentioned BSOD, I thought it might be an overheating issue, with your fans not properly working. I've had that issue before.
Doomboi
Over heating hardware or a virus. First, get “Speccy” which will show you the hardware specifications as well as heat. If any piece of hardware is higher than 50c install another fan on said hardware. If not, Virus scan.

Daft Innovation
Thank you for all the suggestions. I was a bit shocked yesterday to find my PC not turning on properly, as in it loads the Windows XP loadpage and then it was just a black screen. This afternoon it became normal again. I just hope the spyware has somehow been disabled now, even though I couldn't find any suspicious files. My computer didn't overheat, and has only handled a maximum of 5 programs operating at one time (eg. MSN, a game, Firefox). My computer is barely two years old either. My dad plans to bring it to his office tomorrow to see if any of his pals knows a good solution. But thank you all for posting, this can be locked. ^^
