This is what happens when 2 brilliant minds come together... MADNESS! ^-^ So, while discussing concepts for a pet project of ours, my partner in crime (A certain Paladin of the Saturn persuasion) posed an interesting condition for a set to be built around. So I ran with it and this is what I came up with. These are the Phantasm Eaters. They all share the same general effect, with their own unique effects in the meantime. The general lore on ALL Phantasm Eaters is:

"Once per turn, during your Battle Phase, you can select a monster in your opponent's Graveyard. The selected monster is treated as an attack target in Attack Position for this card. When the selected monster is destroyed, remove it from play. When this card battles an opponent's monster in the Graveyard, negate the effect of that monster."

The effects listed for each individual Monster will only have their unique effects, but they all have this in their lore. Oh, and I FULLY expect quite a few of these to be hit with a Ban/Lim/Semi-Lim. That's when you know an archetype is good. :P

Nice! No OCG errors that I see, awesome originality, and any overpowering is counterbalanced. 11/10, good job!

Why thank you. I spent the better part of the last 2 days making these, so it's always awesome to hear from others.

Phantasm Eaters - Archetype Review
Now lets see this super original concept, well, one of the most unique concepts ever. -Skims through the mini paragraph- Hm....it is quite original, and quite unique, but I somewhat frowned you used the Graveyard as the main base, but, there isn't much places to choose from. Now, on we go. After skimming through a few of the card's, I notice some OCG Errors here and there, but like you said in my profile, this may happen with a somewhat new mechanic. Now, I also notice even though you were lacking pictures here and there, some of them are just not fitting to be a Fiend-Type, and some of them not even the DARK Attribute as well. Also, I cannot tell if the Sub-Archetypes pictures are meant to be somewhat blurry or are blurry, because to me they look well, blurry. Okay, now the actual cards and whatnots.

They seem to have somewhat of an aggressive strategy going on, seeing a good chunk of their Level 4 monsters have 1800-2100. Also, they also seem to have another strategy in some of the card's, which equip a monster they are attacking in the Graveyard and sometimes while skipping damage calculation for further benefits through them. Whether it's too protect them from card effects, or just to gain that ATK boost. Now while skimming through the main Archetype monsters, I can see in some of these card's, they are quite overpowering. And even though in your words an Archetype is really good when it gets hit by the Ban List, when it does get hit by the big hammer, this can ruin the Archetype completely. For example, Infernity and Lightsworn Decks in my opinion, aren't played as much as they were when some of there key cards weren't on the Ban List. Even though I somewhat believe it is true only an Archetype is at it's 'best' when it gets an overpowering card or two, but this won't last for long, sooner or later, Konami will come in and hit those cards quite hard, and also, even though you are expecting to see some of these card's get hit, I can say perhaps 5+ cards are going to get hit quite hard, most likely in the Banned, or Limited area, with the Semi-Limited of course being at it's least, and in my opinion, there is no use of making a card that you know will get banned, for even though it may be one heck of a card, it most likely will only last the current format it is in, and then will never return to play again.

The Sub-Archetype seem to have their effects trigger in the Graveyard. Not the most original, but is quite the hassle to get them out from the Graveyard. To make matters worse, well, 'worse', their effects can also be used when removed from play. This makes cards such as Dimensional Fissure / other cards useless against these cards, because when a card needs to get out of the Grave through a card effect, the only cards your opponent will most likely have are cards that will make those cards in the Grave go to the remove from play zone, but in this Sub-Archetypes case, it will still benefit you. So I suggest perhaps removing the remove from play part for the Sub-Archetype, even though this possibly may break it from being any good. Another problem is, the Sub-Archetype in my opinion, can work quite well, and possibly better then the actual Archetype, seeing a simple Mill Engine like 3 Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter can get this Sub-Archetype up and running quite fast.

The Tuner / Synchro are really, really overpowered. For they can really change the Duel around. The Tuner is just like Glow-Up Bulb / Plaguspreader Zombie, not effect-wise, but the use of it's effect, making this most likely Limited / Banned in my opinion. Same thing with the Synchro, even though it does require 3 non-Tuners from the Archetype, gaining all the non-Tuners effects, dealing out massive burn, and being able to attack repeatedly with a whopping 3500 stats is just a bit much. After also looking through the Spells and Traps of the Archetype, they seem to be the least of the Archetype to get hit by the Ban List, not all of them, but majority of the Spells and Traps. So overall, lets say this Archetype would be released, not all at once, but overtime it will get cards. I see it being when it first comes out, lets say it gets one of it's broken cards. It will stay supreme at Tier 1, but next format when that card gets Banned / Limited, the Archetype will suddenly become Tier 2 / 3, with the small possibility of Tier 1/5. And so on and so on every time some new cards get released for it + that 1 or 2 broken card that comes with it as well. So overall, the Archetype gets a 5.5/10

Ah... well that's not a confidence booster. Still, nice of you to drop by and comment, I'll like forward to your reviews in the future as well.

Sorry, but a decent chunk of your cards were a bit over the top. I know what you meant about a good Archetype always having cards hit by the Ban List, whether they are Limited, Semi-Limited, or Banned, but in my opinion, a good chunk of the monsters would be Limited / Banned, leaving the somewhat weaker monsters left, that either didn't do much without those overpowering cards, or just were somewhat unneeded in the Archetype, if there would be perhaps only 2 or 3 monsters that were a bit over the top, rather then I believe 4 or more, then perhaps your rating would increase to at least 6, and possibly 7. Not saying the main chunk of your rating was decreased because of this.
