Mr. Hyde
The Fight By: Zach Jones A flash appeared In the sky, glazing the dark clouds with a magnificent shine. A sound broke the silence of the abysmal night. The crack of thunder was heard by everything living in the Amazon. There was a rustling behind some bushes. Chinchilas and insects scurried to their hiding spots and lie there until the storm was over. Rain beat down on the forest like it always did. Puddles of mud were everywhere. A late Chinchila scurried up a tree and started cleaning himself. Out from behind the brush, a figure ran through the rain. His face was scratched and beaten from falling while random branches swung in his face each time he batted them away. He looked behind him to see the secret lab he had left behind. A lab with all of his friends, colleagues, and workers. The man was frantic in his efforts to try to get away from something. Something not able to be seen by ordinary man. Sweat dripped down his face. He didn’t even realize the stress on his body. The rain cooled him as he ran. One false step into a puddle was all it took for him to sink down into a deep puddle of mud. He tried desperately to pull himself from the mud, but each struggle brought him deeper and deeper into the mud. He turned his head to face his chaser. The sound of it’s call terrified him. The sound of a door, slowly creaking open, made his spine shiver in fear. A flash illuminated the dark forest, and also brought the strange creature into view. The monstrosity was fairly tall, and wore a mask. It wore no armor, but his pelvic region was covered by a primitive pair of leather shorts. Around it’s chest, it wore a belt, and attached to the belt were skulls. Skulls of things he had never seen on Earth. Only one was recognizable, and it shook him to his very core. The third skull on the belt, was that of a human’s. On it’s shoulder was a cannon like device. When the lightning came, and the light dissolved into the clouds, the being vanished. “These creatures….we’ve been studying them for some time now…” the man said into a voice recorder. “They are a primitive…yet advanced race of hunters. They challenge themselves to hunt the most deadly creatures from around the universe. The only things they prefer to hunt…are another race of deadly insect-like reptiles called Xenomorphs…and the Homo-Sapien. We call them…Predators.” The man pressed the stop button, put the recorder in a plastic bag, and threw it into a grassy area so that it would not sink in the mud. The alien creature appeared in front of the man in an instant. Two blades shot out from the side of a device on it’s upper wrist. The scientist squinted, as the Predator swung his blades. It was all over in a flash. There was no pain, or suffering. The Alien took off it’s mask, revealing a hideous face. Four appendages sprouted from the corners of his mouth. The top of it’s head was bald, and it harbored two cat like eyes. It’s teeth looked as sharp as knives, and it wore it’s “hair”that was on the side of it’s head in dreadlocks. The Predator sat on a rock and wiped down his the blood dipped blades. As it finished, it stood up and gave a mighty roar. It sounded like what paleontologists thought a T-Rex sounded like. Exotic birds flew from their nests and resting spots and flapped towards the sky. The Predator took his trophy from the back of the man’s head and walked towards his ship. As he did, there was a terrible tremor. It seemed like it shook the whole forest. The Predator put on his mask and waited for the visor to upload it’s vision capabilities. The first thing the predator saw was an infrared sight. It switched the vision from infrared, to ultraviolet, then thermal, and finally to night vision. The Predator stalked the forest looking around in the pitch black night. It looked down only to find a huge crack. It gave a slight cock of it’s head very slowly, and ran towards the epicenter of the quake. When it arrived, his ship was a couple meters away from a very large hole that radiated heat and evil. The Predator didn’t know where the hole lead, but it must not have been a very good place. The alien ran into his ship and reloaded his arsenal of weapons. He put a test tube-like capsule into the cannon that rested on his shoulder. A saw-like disk was taken from a shelf, along with a long lance. The Predator pressed a button on the lance that made the stick grow three times smaller. He picked up another mask. This mask had a silver shine to it. On the forehead of the mask was a strange symbol. A recording played from the mask. It was spoken in a few different alien languages and then was translated to English “Spartan” the mask recited. This was his name. Spartan in English, and a creepy clacking noise in his own. Next, Spartan picked up a satchel. Something rectangular was kept inside of it. Spartan looked at himself in a mirror and psyched himself up. He jumped out of his ship with excitement, and switched his veiw to thermal. There were some hulking footprints that showed a bright red. The creature had been here just moments ago. Spartan looked back at the hole…it was the source of the footprints. Spartan tensed up the muscles in his legs, and sprang up into the strong trees. Spartan jumped from tree to tree, following the strange footprints. It stopped when it heard a strange sound. Something was sniffing frantically for a scent, sweeping the forest floor for an ounce of a familiar smell. The beast picked up his head. Rather heads, it picked up one…then another, and yet another. Three heads rose into the air, sniffing and sniffing furiously. It turned around and looked in the exact location where the invisible Spartan was hiding in the tree. Spartan knew his cloaking device was useless now. This beast was much like his own pet on his home planet. Except this creature was at least five-times bigger and it’s fur was flaming with a brilliant light. The fire was too intense for Spartan’s thermal sight and he switched it back to night vision. Spartan pressed a flap on the device on his wrist. It revealed five plastic light buttons with alien numbers. Spartan pressed a button combination, and his invisible camoflauge was turned off. The beast growled with an eerie echo. This was sure to be an excellent trophy for Spartan. He took out his Lance and pressed the button. The lance was turned into it’s original size. He threw it like a javelin. It grazed the beasts skin, but it hardly phased the hulking monster. The hellhound pounced and combusted in a burst of flame and smoke only to reappear on top of Spartan. Blades shot out from his wrist device and he shoved them into the hound’s stomach. All three heads of the beast snapped at Spartan’s mask. The mask was dented and scratched, but Spartan kicked the Cerberus off of him and onto it’s back. Spartan jumped to his feet and took out the saw disk. He threw the disk, and as it flew through the air, it made a whirling sound as if it was slicing the very air it flew through. It sliced the beasts stomach, but nothing poured from it’s body. The beast got back onto it’s feet without any sign of pain. Spartan gave a sigh and jumped onto the beasts back. A snap was heard as Spartan landed onto what seemed to be the Cerberus’s spine. The blades were shot into the air as another flash of lightning shot across the sky. The blades went straight through the left head of the giant beast. The cannon on it’s shoulder charged a blue aura inside the barrel and shot a blue blast of plasma at the right head. The right head exploded. Then Spartan hopped high into the air and smashed down on the Cerberus’s middle head. He took a knee as he panted. He looked behind him only to see the beast stand back up. Shadows formed where Spartan had sliced, shot, and mangled it’s body. The creature was reborn from the darkness of human kind. This creature wasn’t here just by an odd coincidence after all. This Cerberus was here to wreak havic on all of the human race. Spartan grabbed the pouch he had taken from his shape. He took out a book from the inside. The three-headed hound hissed, the flame hairs on the back of it’s neck stood up. Spartan held up book. The book had a cross on it and was wrapped with a fine leather. This book was given to him from his ancestors and was aquired from this planet during a time of suffering from a simple man who met his race with open arms. Inside the first words stated, “In the beginning….there was nothing.”. The Cerberus almost shed a tear of flames. Spartan prepared to launch the book when the Cerberus gave one last leap to try and destroy this alien. Spartan released the book, and as soon as it made contact with the demon’s flesh, the beast exploded in a firework of flames and darkness. The book fell into the mud. Spartan picked it up and brushed the filth from the book that had just saved his life. Spartan walked carefully back to his intergalactic space ship. He stopped to look at the crevice again. It felt strange that the hole had not been sealed. He bent over it only to hear echos of ferocious growling. He saw an army of enormous hounds, very much like the one he had just killed. Spartan gave a roar as he took the book and put it over the hole. He dropped it into the pit. As it fell into the darkness, it started glowing intensely, revealing the mass amounts of demons scaling the walls of the hole. As the light touched the Cerberus’s the bursted into an explosion of flame and ash. The book fell and explosions were heard until it had travelled to far down the hole. A huge vortex of light shot out from the hole and Spartan was knocked on his feet. The beam of light shot out into space and faded into the vast emptiness. The crevice in the ground started to close almost immediately after the beam faded. When it closed, Spartan got back onto his feet. He brushed the mud away from his skin and shorts as he limped towards his ship. He sat in his chair and spun around in a circle. When he stopped, he turned to a keyboard. He typed in a code that showed the words, Auto-Pilot and Home. He pressed both words on the screen. His ship started silently hovering in the air as a jet of blue fire came out from a jet system on both sides of it. The engine rumbled and Spartan was shot from Earth’s atmosphere. Spartan laid back and relaxed as he took off his helmet, placed it on his chest, and plugged a cable into his helmet and into a monitor like device. He watched scenes of his adventure on Earth as he slowly drifted to sleep.
