Hey, I won't lie, you at least attempted a concept that most people would definitely never do on their first tag. The execution was extremely poor, though.

Now, here's a bunch of tutorials. Don't follow them to the letter, because some of the results kind of suck. But what you should do is look at some of the techniques used and apply them yourself in a tag you think works best. Especially pay attention to the planet one. The outcome for that is no where near great, but the techniques will be pretty good to know when you start to do better concepts and more scratched stuff. Also pay attention to the Yes Tag tutorial. It'll teach some great stuff about textures and adjustment layers, and how to use them.

That's the only GOOD one among them, the rest are just meh. It teaches you nothing on a natural level, and goes straight into standardization practices.

Meanwhile, I properly taught him how to mask-render his focal (and anything else really) over MSN and a Livestream session. So he can get a feel of what to get and what to leave behind, with a lot of personal input and nothing holding him back. Yea...
