Incest, legal or not?

Let's face it. Some people love their siblings or relatives in more then one way. Is it wrong that their related, is their feelings wrong?

I have contemplated this and have come to a decision. If 2 consenting mature teens or adults have feelings for each other and their related, let them.

Who cares.

Let them enjoy their lives together.

Though genetically and morally it's wrong, and I don't usually approve of incest, I would allow.

What's your take on incest marriage and the such YCM?

Ha funny how that is being said even though "Incest" Has been a popular thing in the world since the beginning of time... Kings used to do this.. Then civilization came up with a stupid excuse for political correctness known as "Morals"... It is not "Morally wrong" in any way... A brother and Sister Per say are closer to each other(BY BLOOD FOR GODS SAKES)And yet we seperate them from having feelings toward each other... Its really pitiful that people would have a bad opinion on it yet it has shaped the world for 2000 years...

Mostly religious beliefs and the fact that it causes genetic problems.

I wouldn't care either way tbh.

Mind society also said all blacks had AIDS and now they're saying the same for homosexuals. So don't trust studies on certain groups. Being a guy with an incestuous sister I'd like to say from my point of view that if the sibling gets a No and they will stop their fantasizing. Treat an ncestuous sibling as you would with a normal person that can take a No. Despite that it is the brothers a majority of the time this can be resolved by just expressing love by protecting them from boys that would hurt them and such. As for my opinion on the marriage itself. I firmly believe that if they are 2 Consenting People then they should but if the DNA studies are correct they should be sterilized as well. At least the male.

You cannot really use past generations as an indication of what is still socially or legally acceptable. In the past, you could legally have someone murdered for an INSULT, because it was a protection of your family or honor.

Religions and upbringing play the largest part in whether incest is immoral, and these feelings are most likely to surface at an age where one or neither party is really mature enough for a relationship of that kind, and its failure can greatly damage a family dynamic, or just make people extremely uncomfortable.

In the modern day, incestuous siblings are viewed as perverted in most cases, ignoring the fact that many humans or species find attraction in qualities similar to ones they already possess (and therefore siblings, ESPECIALLY twins would also possess).

That's not an excuse, war have also been made since the beginning of time and kings used to do them. But that doesn't make them "right".=/

Call me silly but I'm still a bit divided about this. Yes in many cases it will cause genetic problems for the child but there have also been cases (like always) that proved the contrary. Not sure how frequent they are though, does someone have a serious study or account about this?

Meh, I'm on the same stance as suicide about this (as a theme of course, not in terms of legal or not because the question about legality...can't be really raised for suicide IMO). Allow it if serious studies have shown that it can be, but personally, do not want.

How does this reply to my comment? It sounds like you thought I said they can't accept no for an answer, when I never said anything related to that.

Not shooting down your post at all, just wondering why you quoted me.

"Fact" was probably poor word choice on my part. Replace it with belief, since we don't know for sure.

I can just imagine how a study like this would go.

"Subjects in group A are the products of incestuous relationships, and the subjects in group B are products of parents who DIDN'T sleep with their siblings."

Seriously, how does anyone test the results of breeding? There are too many factors, both genetic and situational, and it implies that incestuous couples are willing to have their children studied and monitored for gene defects. As for reduced intelligence and things like that, it can be based from the environment they were raised in, not from the parents being genetically similar.

I click on the nearest reply button when done reading. sorry. @Opal, pedophillia and age difference marriages were common in Greece as were homosexual orgies and rape. The irony is if my memory serves correctly. America's two house system was based off of the Greek's governmental system if not them then the Romans who also okay'd prostitution. To deny the structure of morals and way of life the Romans/Greeks went off of is simply unamerican. Believing their is DNA problems with incest children is basically saying all blacks have aids as well as homosexuals.

Incest should be about as legal as abortion should be.

Completely legal, as long as both individuals are consenting.

This does not mean beastiality should be legal, as you have no way of knowing if an animal is consenting or not.

I like your reasoning on this one. Made me laugh.

But I'm with Dark on this one. In the past Incest was more so to keep a family line pure and in many cultures that's a good thing, but as the pure line keeps continuing we get more and more of those recessive genes becoming dominant. Which is what actually happened. However... In today's world we are fully aware of those consequences and incest does not happen in every generation as it once did. So with no real health risk, where's the problem in it?

Genetic problems? Maybe in about 5 generations.
Related by blood? Big whoop.
Name one difference between your sister and any other girl, aside from genetics.
BTW, the following questions needs to be asked.
What is family?
In the end, it has nothing to do with blood.
Don't get me wrong here, I'll punch you in the face for insulting my blood family, but, there is more to family than blood.
Thus, just because you and the woman you have feelings for share blood parents, doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to consummate those feelings.
Incest= La-dee-freakin'-da.

Genetic problems? Maybe in about 5 generations.

I'm pretty sure that roughly fifty percent, if not more, babies born from brother-sister incest result in having some kind of mental defect or handicap.

I can try to get you a statistic on this, since Wikipedia isn't the best at giving recent statistics.

A 1994 study found a mean excess mortality with inbreeding among first cousins of 4.4%. A study of 29 offspring resulting from brother-sister or father-daughter incest found that 20 had congenital abnormalities...

incest for only the purpose of sex w/out children theoretically as a concept is just damn hawt and damn pleasureable

the damn problem is when they really start to "fall in love"
yeah genetically its not gonna work out, chromosomes go missing, you get extra chromosome, your ability to gain immunities lack because you have the same immune functions with similar copy DNA's so yeah, if your getting a kid i recomend adoption.
other than that incest sex partner such go on and get busy, you lucky bastards

but father and daughter....... is uhhhhh controversal....... that maybe a rape thing w/out consent

I disagree with this even though I study ancient history and am going to be one of the first ones to agree about the Greeks and Romans building the foundations of Western culture. But that doesn't mean that everything they did was right and I don't care if it's "unamerican" or not, but I'm denying the idea of sacrificing animals in cruel ways for religious rituals for example.

This doesn't have much to do with the topic at hand, but just saying, the argument that "older cultures did it before and it was kind of a success" doesn't work.

As for DNA problems, like I said, I haven't read enough studies to have a clear opinion about it. But it's not exactly on the same scale as "black or homosexuals all having AIDS" because if there is really a serious study that comes out one day that proves the DNA problems with incest children, then that's a different thing.

I'm pretty much on the side of legalizing it, I don't see why these people should be followed by the law and go to prison for it and I don't think that by just making it legal, there will be a huge incest boom. If there's a brother-sister consensus beyond the confines of legal age and all, then on first sight I don't see a problem with it. But things start becoming a problem when it's a parent-child thing and the child isn't of legal age.

I agree with this pretty much, as someone who doesn't know who or what her real parents ae, I consider my adoptive parents to be my family and I really don't undestand why people are so after the whole "find my blood and ancestors" thing. The only missing part it has is that your parents don't look like you and you can't find out some genetically-related things like illnesses running through the family. But that's about all.

And even then, I couldn't imagine doing something with any of my adoptive family members. I know it's an education thing and some people may think otherwise (for all I care they can go for it since it doesn't touch me), but I'm fine with that.

If people want to do that, there's really no reason to stop them.

However! Before you get too, "Incest is fine! What's wrong with it?"

Imagine having sex with one of YOUR SIBLINGS! PICTURE IT!
I'm not saying incest is the smartest thing to do, and I'm not saying it's not immoral, but the fact of the matter is, who gives a damn if incest is immoral and stupid? You said yourself that there is no reason to stop them, similar to how there is no reason to stop homosexual marriages or abortions.

People might be against the idea of having sex with a blood relative, but if others want to do that, that is their problem. No one else should have a say in who I want to have sex with, unless it's an animal, because no one can be sure if the animal is really consenting or not.
