Smesh
So a couple days ago, my teacher was talking about the president. I live in Texas, so one of my friends made some comment about how "he's ruining America" or "he's not even an American citizen". My teacher got mad at him, and gave him a detention for disrespecting the president. The next day, he was taken out of my class. I asked why, and he said his dad didn't want him being teached by a democrat. Da fawk. Discuss whats wrong with this picture, and extremists. Clair
[s]I don't see a picture.[/s] Really? Another politics thread? Hell, I don't even know what a politics is. I think that we should just let people believe what they want to believe, but I guess some people don't see it that way. It probably wasn't smart to pull the kid from that class, but some people (like the father) are very protective of their values. You're in a history class, not a politics class, amirite? The Amazing Avian
I expected a discussion about lions and tigers and bears. Anyway, we got into a similar discussion in my English class. The only difference was that nobody was hating on Obama. And where in Texas do you live, Smesh?

Cin
Politics may suck and so may the politicians, but without it where would we be. (It reminds me of an advert run a few years ago, where the person says they don't do politics and there's a whole list of things they can't discuss because of it, but they don't realise that until their 'friend' tells them')

GenzoTheHarpist
Nothing wrong with politics, inherently... actually, deciding good policies for improving the world should be something everyone enjoys, and should be a field full of innovation. If people did enjoy politics more, we would actually see less of this; its people's disinterest that leads them to go no further than "democrats are bad". Just Crouton
Teacher should have been more tolerant of the student's opinion and challenge him to explain his statement. I was in a government class in high school during the Bush era, and on day 1, the teacher said we have an intelligent reason why we think Bush sucks. Father is funny. Lt. Colonel Remo
Saying he isn't a citizen means he shouldn't be allowed to run at all let alone win and be prez And Republicans didn't put enough effort to say and fully believe he isn't a citizen. Therefore that kid is saying that most of countries power is corrutped by some foreigner and the actual gov't he supports is too fail to notice But hey How gives a f*ck?
