Honestly, what should I do?

i'm a huge fire emblem fan, to the point where im learning how to hack to create my own game. problem is, I have no talent to draw my own sprites and portraits for the game. on one of the fire emblem websites, im getting alot of negative feedback as far as asking someone to help.

custom sprites/portraits are a big part of the game, so im wondering if I should keep trying, or if I should just give up, and maybe move on to something else. I dont want to do all this work just to have all the portraits be simple recolors of already existing characters. I also hate the idea of placing such a burden on someone elses shoulders. what do you think?

Custom sprites are difficult, either learn how or give up. Doing a hack by yourself will usually result in failure 99% of the time.

Or you know, you can not be so negative and offer a healthy alternative?

Make the game without the new sprites, but with the adjusted everything else. If you absolutely need new things, simply do a palette edit so people see the change. This will give people an incentive to know you actually will go through with it (and hell at this point you DID). And it'll be worth the spriter's time. Based on your own words, really that is what you can do.
