~Apollo~
I think Obama has done a fair job with the country, and is clearly a great speaker. The only problem I have with him is that I haven't seen very much "Change." Politics are still ran the same. Democrats and Republicans are going to run the US into the ground. Well whatever, how do YOU think Obama is doing? Random Quote: "However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion." Renzoku Kira-
He is doing good on his own, but he is being pressured by his party all the time. They were mad at him because he actually wanted to do something for this country. He talks to the Republicans after election night the other Democrats beside to turn their back on him and their country. People keep saying the things that Obama are doing are bad, but as he keep saying the things he has set in motion will take time to get their full effect. In his State of the Union speech he kept saying that he has projects he has started that will take years to complete, but Americans want the change now. If things are as bad as the Republicans state why have we not had a revolution like other countries are having? I do predict that in these next two years he will make his Administration look better. With a split congress there will be progress made that will actually help the county out before 2012. If Palin gets into the White House in 2012 by some miracle all the progress that his administration has made will be for nothing.

Βyakuya
Quite fine, but I'm interested in his foreign policy against Egypt's Civil Brawls. But this change I've been hearing, slowly effected.
Dark
He has promised us a lot of things during the 2008 campaign, and few of those things actually happened. Our unemployment rate is still above 9%, so he hasn't created too many jobs. Our national debt doubled (or more), and only now is he starting to "fix" it. Our ecomony is just starting to recover. Eh, I'm all for his re-election, but he needs to do major work.
Renzoku Kira-
He is just now starting to fix it because Senator Harry Reed and the Devil Nancy don't have his neck on a chopping board. When he is not being controlled by his party he can actually make some good smart decisions.

I'd like you to name a single issue where senate democrats made him do something dramatically different from his original intentions.

Tentacruel
I hope you guys realize that the only way for the debt to go down is higher taxes and less goodies from the government. Problem is, nobody get's elected making promises like that.
Dark
And as someone pointed out, for the next two years, nothing will get done because the Republicans are going to be complete retards. I think at one point they even directly stated that they were going to repeal the healthcare bill entirely, signaling that they are going to revert all of Obama's progress, and prevent Obama from making any progress. Bipartisan bills are few and far between, so we will have a stagnant, retarded government for the next two years.
GenzoTheHarpist
This whole false expectation of bipartisanship is just a symptom of the deeper problem, which is the two party system. Obviously when you have only two options, people are going to want them to be as different as possible, while the parties are going to want to be as similar as possible. [/quote] Yeah, no. Come back when you have an actual argument to put forth. You have no idea what Obama inherited when he stepped into office. s*** economy (Bush's doing.), 2 wars, housing crisis. I honestly think you couldn't do any better. The health care bill hasn't been put forth yet due to congress. Besides, Obama was given the impression that the war wasn't over. That's why he kept the troops there for a longer period of time.

TheComposer
What (most) of you don't realize, is that Obama doesn't have much power. He's basically a figurehead that can influence the decisions of the Senate and pass bills, but most of the real powers lies with the Senate. NO President can ever change a lot, because they would need most of the Senate to back him as well, hence how his head is on the chopping block, since most of the Senate is Democrat, and they don't have to do what he says.
