Gospel.
So apparently ACTIVISION is doing away with the Guitar Hero series of rhythm games. Whether it's due to low sales, or too much competition from Rock Band. Anyway, this video seems to cover it better than anyone else so far. Personally, being a competitive GH and RB player, I'm pretty bummed while some RB fans rejoice saying "yay! now GH exclusive DLC will go to Rock Band!" which, under the circumstances bands might want to have songs put into Rock Band now that Guitar Hero's gone. 'tyleR
I always preferred GH to Rock Band. I also preferred DJ Hero to both, even though I didn't have the money to afford my own DJ Hero set. It's quite sad to see Activision do away with all of that, and quite honestly, I think it was kind of a bad move to cancel DJ Hero 3. That's just my opinion, though. It's also quite sad to see all those jobs go out. :// I feel pain for everyone who has/is going to lose work because of this decision.
Taichi Masaki
Well I really did like GH, but as long as there still somewhat a game like it, I'll live. Without these sort of games, I would barely know any of these songs.
Kizzi
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/08/super-meat-boy-rock-band-network/ Yay! (even though I don't own rock band)
Bahamut - Envoy of the End
TBH, there are only so many great songs that you want to guitar/drum/sing too. Personally when I looked at the (abysmal) songlist on game 5, I knew the end was coming.
TAG
They've stated that the Guitar Hero franchise is being canned due to low sales as of recently. The demand simply isn't there anymore.
Dark
Rock Band 2 and Rock Band 3, both amazing games, kind of outdid all of the Band Hero and Guitar Hero 5 crap that Activision was spewing out in recent months. I didn't expect them to die, but I did expect a Rock Band takeover. I don't really mind, I'm happy with my Rock Band 3 stuff, really. But it sucks to see that the original guitar-video-game company is going out of business. :/
Scanty&Kneesocks
They've stated that the Guitar Hero franchise is being canned due to low sales as of recently. The demand simply isn't there anymore.
^ This I'm also sad that DJ Hero is being canned too because I enjoy it, but electronic/hip-hop is not as big as a market that rock is; and even those who enjoy it just see it as a cheap rip off of Guitar Hero and don't bother playing it. (even if the game IS fun.) but I'm ok as long as Beatmania IIDX keeps ***tting out new games every year for me to import (still waiting for a PS3 Beatmania :/)
Poc
Activision is notorious for doing this to franchises, just look at Tony Hawks Pro skater, they've released a new title for it almost every year to the point that people are sick of playing 60$ for the same game (see; Call of Duty). Now all Activion has left is Call of Duty, and whatever Blizzard spits out.
Catman25
Yeah, I stopped keeping track of GH after 4. Why not just make a last megagame, with downloadable tracks whenever another song is used?
