Dark
Discuss gramatical exceptions. I think you already used one. You thought it was spelled "gramatical" and not "grammatical". Good for you!

You thought it was spelled "gramatical" and not "grammatical". Good for you!
No, that was just me mispelling the word. I meant discuss rules that don't follow gramatical rules, like "science" not following the "i" before "e" rule.

Clair
"i" before "e" except after "c" and when sounding like "a" as in "neighbor" and "weigh" and on weekends, and holidays and all throughout may and you'll always be wrong no matter what you say! ;D *shot* OT - Can't really think of anything, but rules were made to be broken. Yang Xiao-Long
Grammar is weird, but such is the language where the plurals of one word don't even resemble the plurals of a word similar in structure. If the plural of tooth is teeth, shouldn't the plural of phone booth be phone beeth?

These words are so true. Writers break grammar rules all the time. They even make words up.

CrystalCyae
Simple. Rules are broken every day. Grammar didn't stand a chance. The "I" before "E" rule is one of the common rules broken. Such as in "science" "their" "caffeine" and many others. It's the rule that never should have existed.
