Women can be equally as foolish as men. They crave possessions slightly more than men, are usually more self-conscious, and generally don't apply logic to situations. Men on the other hand, are stupid in a completely different way, but I trust that the rest of you have already covered that.

Ugh. Are you really going to make me quote and go through this thread's collection of dumbassery?

I guess I'll respond to this one too: Bluh Bluh you automatically assume I disagree with you and think all science is fake bluh bluh.

I doubt that all those studies are completely wrong and make believe. I do acknowledge all our differences etc. However, they are far from concrete fact and mostly based in theories. There's a lot more research to be done before we can start making sweeping generalizations off of a few surveys and social experiments. In addition I (and I would wager you and every other person in this thread) have seen numerous exceptions to such findings. For example, there is that one study where they discovered that males start processing 3 dimensions faster and are superior in terms of spacial intelligence. I have seen several women who are better at driving etc (the article went on to hypothesize that men really are all better drivers than women). Because these studies have so much truth behind them yet also so many discrepancies and contradictory cases, I tend to judge more on an individual basis than by gender (not that I dismiss all of the research as bullcrap).

Sweeping generalization. Several men, myself included, have complex tastes. Sometimes to the point that we can't even really describe it. And then sometimes you realize the "Simple" things aren't so simple and have layers of depth to the enjoyment you derive from them that you cannot even fathom. I think it depends more on the parents and other influential adults in a child's development, rather than their gender, that determines the values they come to appreciate. However I do believe society in general has a loosely defined set of ideals that hinge on double standard at times. For example: A guy who gets around a lot is a "Player", while a girl who engages in the same behavior has a high chance of being branded a "Whore".

There's a lot of titles and abstract BS that actually doesn't matter.

Gender is not abstract. The defining characteristics are physically present on your being. The genitals in your pants and secondary sex organs on your chest (if the reader is female) are not illusions conjured by society's imagination. Those things really do exist.

A lot of people are more complex. Don't judge a book by it's cover. It is also incredibly unlikely that you can discern all the various nuances of someones psyche through comprehension of a single trait. To claim you can do this is quite simply rather asinine.

These stereotypes are not as widespread anymore as you make them sound. Seriously, we're not in the 50s or whatever anymore. As a matter of fact "All women like.." (or some variant) is a sure fire way to ruin your argument. Women are not animals. There are not broad, sweeping sets of traits that apply to them all. Women are not cats. Hell even cats are unique. I have 4 and they're all very different in temperament and mannerisms. Nothing is ever that simple as a whole.

As a supplement, I'd also like to say that not ALL stereotypes are completely baseless. Many may have their roots in factual material while others may be lies and rumors started to further political agendas of evil mustached men in smoky parlors. It is important to recognize that next to none of them apply to all the members of a particular group.

While this does veer towards my personal experience and tendency to think, it is important to acknowledge that there are some areas where this is not the case. It would also behoove the people that vehemently disagree with this person's statement to realize that just as some have drastically different experiences than you, you have the exact same number of experiences (for the most part). Each of you has viewed only a few ecosystems in the entire biosphere of our planet.

I'm not quite sure what the word for this is, but it's essentially the opposite of homophobia yet hostilely aimed towards heterosexuals. I suppose one might call it heterophobia, although that might sound incredibly silly and make some of you think I'm nuts.

That said, this man's blatant heterophobia is just as bad as homophobes. I don't care about your sob stories of your oppressed childhood. Those people were douchebags too. But you're still being just as freaking bad. Not degrading yourself or almost becoming them, you are literally just as bad. Not worse though.

You have however nicely illustrated a double standard on public nudity (although this one is less universal. There are infact groups that demand freedom of women to be topless [because men can be] but that is a silly rambling tangent). Let's go with what you've claimed: Women's decisions to sexually express themselves in a public setting is cherished, while a man's is seen as lewd and obscene. This is another odd contradiction. Women would sigh at the exposed one and consider her a floozy, while men would be happy. Yet in the man's case, BOTH genders are disgusted. But once again I am off on pointless rambling XD

ANYWAY, you're the most ridiculous bigot in here. Gay Men and Women are not the same. Not all gays are flamboyant. In fact, homosexuality is not the defining aspect of most gay men's lives. For example, I have a friend (Who will remain nameless) who is in fact gay, yet not flamboyant. He lives a normal life like others do, yet is not closeted. In fact, he thinks several of you flamboyant types are utterly ridiculous and perpetuating a horrible stereotype. I'm not sure about all of them. I know some are and others may just be like that as part of who they are. The point is, by assuming all gays are like that and thus all gays are like women you are doing the following: Supporting the notion that all women are the same, which is sexist, and you are showing ignorance and close-mindedness about your own sexuality. Have you ever been in an argument and had that one guy who is technically on your side, but makes your platform look completely retarded in the way he acts and the ridiculous claims he makes? You are that guy.

This would also not result in the perfect society. Women are and can be just as flawed as men. There are power-hungry ones, there are utilitarian ones. There are good ones and evil ones. It would not be a perfect society (Those can't exist anyway, but the Utopia argument practically deserves it's own thread) there would most certainly be some degree of entropy, and war is just as much a possibility.

First sentence: True.

However, there are plenty of men who exhibit the "female" traits from up there, and a fair amount of women who exhibit the "male" traits you are referring to.


In the event any of you wish to rail against this post but cannot find a suitable argument, feel free to claim usage of a "higher vocabulary" or some such in my post is being used because I think it makes me look smart or boosts my self esteem etc.


I do however draw the line at protests demanding I edit all instances of woman or women to womyn. That just looks silly.

This is missing the way I use terms. I use 'gender' to refer to the social and mental ideas of the subject. I class the physical characteristics as a person's sex.

This was a reply at Warheit who was talking about somebody else believing in a stereotype then talking about yet another one himself, one which I have seen plenty girls who disprove it.

No. That's not what that meant.

Your line of reasoning was such: You don't hang around women, so you don't care about what they think. Thus, since you weren't in Germany etc during the holocaust, you don't care about any of it either.

I used the holocaust as the other example because it is a tragic event and implying you don't care is rather provocative. Also because it's something the majority of people are expected to have at least some grasp of. Being able to understand women's thought processes is a skill you will most likely need to be somewhat proficient in at some point in your life. Hell, there are even some skills people might never need to utilize in their lifetime that they should still know. For example, CPR. Going back to your flawed logic: Why would I care about CPR, I'm never around dying people? Despite the fact that you might never be in such an emergency, it's important to know it on the off chance you would. It's not like extremely specialized knowledge. Nobody would expect you to understand how to operate a nuclear reactor. If you are aiming for a job at one, then you would have time to learn about it. When somebody starts dying, you would not have a chance to go take a CPR course and then come back and save them: they would be dead. Likewise, when a pretty woman suddenly approaches you and initiates conversation, you are not going to be able to go buy a book on social interaction/female psychology and then get back to her.

Point being, there are some skills you need to know even if there is no immediate need for them, because when that need arises you already have to have it down. Chances are you are going to run into at least one of the 3 billion women on Earth eventually.

Testosterone causes males to be ignorant and more aggressive. Estrogen causes females to be rather insane and moody. In other words:

Males are usually just plain dumb while Females are usually just plain crazy.

That's not what most women in my community are. It is actually more of a balance of weaknesses in Genders. If men are ignorant, then by that context, women must be crazy. If not, men would certainly understand women.
