What if the DM Duel City manga rule becomes real?

Recommended Posts

I was reading the DM manga and realized something - in there, duelists can only activate a Spell/Trap once per turn, and it's the same with setting them. If this rule was made into reality many decks will change dramatically. Glads, Anti-Gadgets, all those things that need backrows, not to mention many others, will most likely go extinct. And S/T removal will be much stronger. Though the game becomes slower, it does encourage playing skills of the backrow. Apart from that, to be honest, I'm sick of the games that end in 5 turns. Not sure what you think, but still.

Discuss on your opinions upon this interesting rule.

This ruling, if it ever did become real, would make the games longer but would also make players more reliant on cards like Torriential and Heavy to dominate the field, which will then cause Konami to epic fail the ban list with them, which would make the game a total annoyance. I think that some things need to be changed to fix the length of duels, but nothing this radical. I'd, for once, like to see a match last more than a couple rounds. The longest I've seen was 15 minutes, and that was becuase Player A had nothing and Player B was setting up his Empty Jar Combo but couldn't pull any BoM's and couldn't get his A/D changers to the graveyard.

I remember when games used to be 4000 Lp and would take more than 20 minutes to finish unless you were lucky and got out heavy hitters like 3 BEWD or magically drew all 5 Exodia peices. Which where I live had never happened. We were always stuck with crap combos like Canon Soldier tribute or using burn cards like Ookazi and Just Deserts to torch through our opponents LP while keeping things like Labrynth wall and Mystical Elf as our defense to protect our LP.

Games were never 4000 LP. They were always 8000 unless you were playing a casual game and the two of you agreed to it. In that case, you probably shouldn't be using cheap burn combos since that isn't really fun.
Burn decks when dueling with 4000 LP are pro.

Though I do admit that I miss the days you describe and agree with much else of what you said.
I'd also like to see this game better designed, but that isn't going to happen since it's already ruined.

On Topic: This rule would change a lot and wouldn't really be good for the game. Monster-based decks would still work almost just as well (thanks to loads of Special Summoning) and have less interference against their attacks while S/T-based decks and/or Infernities would be considerably worse.

Remember the days when 7-colored fish was god-tier? lol

On topic though, if these rules were applied I'd imagine the entire banlist would have to be changed to re-balance everything out. What do you guys think of the following banlist changes:

Forbidden

Brionic
Dewloren
Bestiari

Limited

Graceful Charity
Heavy
Metamorphosis
Painful Choice
Premature
Snatch Steal
Breaker

Semi-Limited
Dustshoot
Allure
Destiny Draw
Temple of the Kings

Unlimited
Magical Explosion
Transmigration Prophecy
Reinforcement of the Army
Chain Strike
Stone Excavation
Makyura the Destructor

Yea, MST would be gone. Dark Hole would be spammed like no other because there would be no other way to counter Swarming.

As for the LP thing I stated earlier, We palyed at lunch and had 30 minutes to play. 4000 LP was stretching it for time, so burn decks were spammed so we could get multiple games in.

Back on topic: I think Dark Strike Fighter may remain on the Ban list if this rule would ever be played because with the hardly counterable swarming He'd have more than enough cannon fodder to make the game end in more than one or two turns. Especially if things like Lightsworns were used and you pulled the higher level ones from your grave via their effects. This rule would destroy the game worse than ever because it would make random toolbox decks tier 1 or 2, and swarm decks would be unstoppable.

I am glad this rule will never happen...
