A simple way to make better-looking card images for avatars

Recommended Posts

I've noticed people on YCM who have card art as avatars, and the images are from holo-foil or messy/ugly scans.

Normally, I use card images from these 3 archives.

This is a pretty simple.

Step 1: Download GIMP

Step 2: Acquire the card you want to edit.
For this tutorial, I'll use this image.

Step 3: Open image in GIMP
Open the image in GIMP, then in the menu bar, click on "Colors." When the menu drops down, click on Brightness-Contrast, the 4th choice on the list.

A new box will open for Brightness-Contrast. Here, mess with the brightness and contrast to your liking. Increasing the contrast makes the image look better, but the higher the contrast, the less detail.

Afterwards, your image will look something like this.

It's that simple, and makes ugly scans you find better-looking.
