[Star Ocean] God's Ten Wise Men {Now with support cards!}

Expelsword

Recommended Posts

Welcome to my card topic. Before you view my cards, please take a moment to read the following, guidelines, if you will.

- These cards are based on The Ten Wise Men, the antagonists of Star Ocean 2.
- More info here http://starocean.wikia.com/wiki/Ten_Wise_Men

- I KNOW THE ART IS NOT GOOD/IS NOT IDENTICAL STYLE. If you think you can do better, I greatly encourage you to, There are not that many images of The Ten Wise Men to use.

- Each Wise Man has 1 additional level and 500 ATK/DEF over the Wise Man below him
- In order to summon stronger Wise Men, you need greater numbers of other Wise Men in your Graveyard
- The effects of the Wise Men, and their support cards may by all means be overpowered, they are infact, almost godlike.
- I am more curious about how the archetype would work together, as a Deck, than how broken each of the cards are.

Please, share your input! I have thus far received none from any of the 3 times I have reworked them.

"This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned if you have at least 8 "God's Ten Wise Men" monsters in your Graveyard with different names and cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard. This card's attribute is also treated as WIND. This card cannot attack your opponent directly. When this card is Summoned, send all Spell and Trap cards your opponent controls to the Graveyard. Card effects cannot be activated in response to this effect's activation. Every End Phase, send one card on the field to the Graveyard."

"This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except from your hand or Deck by paying 1000 Life Points and having 9 different "God's Ten Wise Men" monsters in your Graveyard. This card's attribute is also treated as DARK. This card cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects and is unaffected by Counter Trap Cards. This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each. If this card attacks more than one monster, battle damage from those attacks becomes 0."

--It's basically Dragon Canyon but weaker, I admit.

"This card's activation and effect cannot be negated. Neither player can activate a new Field Spell Card. You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to negate and destroy any Spell or Trap card.
During the End Phase of your turn, send cards from the top of your opponent's Deck to your Graveyard based on the "God's Ten Wise Men" monster or "Unlimited Gabriel Indalecio" you control with the highest level.
* 1, 2, 3, or 4: 1
* 5 or 6: 2
* 7 or 8: 3
* 9 or 10: 4
* 12: 5"
-- This card is basically the win condition, and I tacked on the Orichalcos effect like a boss, because, well... it destroys the universe.

They were imprisioned for 4 billion years in Eternity Space, but eventually escaped. This is what turns them from passable to really abusable.
First of all: The pictures are horrible... owait, you knew that? :unsure:

Okay, jokes aside, since you already ask how this would work as a deck, and since Pop Culture Cards aren't exactly forbidden over at Written Cards, why don't you post them there? Just an idea. And now, onto the cards:

To work as a deck effectively, they'd need a lot of milling. Card Trooper, Foolish Burial, some Lightsworns, and you're all set. The payoff would be tolerable, because their effects are, indeed, pretty powerful, I don't wanna say the word "overpowered", but they sure get in that direction. But it would be quite inconsistent. A lot of the cards would be dead in your hand while you're Graveyard still shouts "EMPTY!" in all directions. And to inherite them all in one deck is out of the question anyway, you don't have the space. As a concept, it's okay, the support cards should concentrate on making those dead cards in your hand and grant you some searching/drawing in return.

On the pop cultural note... I can't really say much to be honest. I've played Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (Still one of my favourite games of all time, 200 hours on the clock, Freya dead... I guess it's the only game (aside from Diablo II) I've spend so much time with) and the Last Hope (solid), as well as the Remake of the first game (pretty disappointing), but never the second game, which is claimed to be the best in the series... maybe one day :lol:

Yeah, that's all I can say for now.

So long,

Spoon

I'm serious when I say that art is extremely limited. Star Ocean 2 is pretty epic, though, check it out if you can. I have drafted support for them, but it's not going in just yet. I want more input for the Wise Men themselves first.

they are alright, the concept is pretty cool, it's like having a whole bunch of JD in one deck lol
these can actually be really OP lol... can basically pull an OTK off by summoning a whole bunch of them lol
cards needed for a deck using these would be like:

2 Card Trooper
1 Charge of the Light Brigade
3 Ryko
1 Lyla (preference)
1 Glow-up Bulb (preference)
1 Foolish Burial
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Dark Armed Dragon

i would actually use 3 Shigeo and 1 Marsillio in Monarch Decks or something
if you have 1 Shigeo or Marsillio in the graveyard, then you can have a free SS Shigeo even with monsters or Spell and Traps on the field and you can Tribute that for a monarch and it has a nice effect of checking set cards

you can also make a Chaos deck with these lol
great chance to since Chaos Sorcerer is unlimited now, how stupid

the thing is though, a lot of your cards have UP effects

Be careful. If you have just SHIGEO in your Grave you can't use it to summon another SHIGEO
When counting Wise Men in the Grave, any that share names do not count.

You basically need all 9 others for Indalecio
Though you do bring up a point. Lower ones ARE easy summons
