Sacred Phoenix Set [18(20)/18(20)]

Recommended Posts

So, one of my favourite cards of all time is Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys, but I always felt that it needed more support, so to speak. I realise the origin of the card came from Nephthys, an ancient Egyptian. That's all I really know on the topic, but that's irrelevant. I felt like taking this on a tangent to that, and in stead focus on the Sacred Phoenix side of things, and here's what I've got so far.

If this card is destroyed by a card effect, Special Summon this card from the Graveyard during your next Standby Phase. If you Special Summon this card in this way, destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field.

You can Tribute this card and 1 other monster to Special Summon 1 "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" from your hand or Deck.

And now onto the cards I have so far:

You can tribute this monster and 1 other monster on your side of the field to Special Summon one "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" that is removed from play or your Graveyard. When you do this, activate the effects of the monster Summoned by this effect as though it was Summoned by its own effect.

If this monster destroys a monster by battle, you can discard 1 card to add one "Sacred Phoenix" monster from your Deck to your hand. If this card is destroyed by a card effect, Special Summon it during your next Standby Phase and draw 1 card.

If this card is destroyed by a card effect controlled by your opponent, special summon it during your next standby phase.

If your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card by tributing one "Sacred Phoenix" monster on your side of the field. When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, you can discard one "Sacred Phoenix" monster or one "Hand of Nephthys" from your hand to destroy 2 face-up cards on the field.

This monster is treated as a "Sacred Phoenix" monster. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. This card can only be Normal Summoned or Set by tributing 2 “Sacred Phoenix” monsters on your side of the field.
This card cannot be special summoned, except from the graveyard. When this monster is special summoned you can tribute it to special summon one level 4 or lower "Sacred Phoenix" monster from your hand, that monster cannot be destroyed in battle and is destroyed during the second end phase after this card's activation.

This card is treated as a "Sacred Phoenix" monster. If this monster is used as a Synchro Material card for the Synchro summon of a monster, that monster must be a "Sacred Phoenix" card. If this card is destroyed by a card effect, special summon it during your next standby phase and inflict 800 damage to your opponent.

1 "Sacred Phoenix" Tuner monster + 1 "Sacred Phoenix" monster.
This monster can only be special summoned by Synchro Summon. If this card is destroyed by a card effect, during your next standby phase you can special summon one "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" from your hand, deck or graveyard. When you do this, activate the effects of the monster Summoned by this effect as though it was Summoned by its own effect.

This card is treated as a "Sacred Phoenix" monster. During the End Phase of a turn when a "Sacred Phoenix" monster you control is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard you can Special Summon this monster from your hand in face-up Defence position. If this monster is destroyed by a card effect, draw 1 card.

1 "Sacred Phoenix" Tuner monster + 1 "Sacred Phoenix" non-tuner monster
This monster can only be summoned by Synchro Summon. When this monster is Special Summoned you can destroy 1 spell or trap card your opponent controls. If this monster is destroyed by a card effect, special summon 1 level 5 or lower "Sacred Phoenix" monster from your graveyard in your next Standby Phase.

Arise from Ashes] Discard 1 "Sacred Phoenix" or "Hand of Nephthys" monster card from your hand to the Graveyard and Special Summon 1 level 4 or lower "Sacred Phoenix" monster or "Hand of Nephthys" from your Graveyard. Destroy that card in your 2nd End Phase after this card's activation.

Activate only when a "Sacred Phoenix" monster you control would be destroyed by battle. Destroy the "Sacred Phoenix" monster with this card's effect, and end the Battle Phase.

Critisise away. I'm thinking I may have to tone down some of the effects, but I'm not entirely sure yet.

You can tribute this monster and 1 other monster on your side of the field to Special Summon one "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" that is removed from play or your Graveyard. When you do this, activate the effects of the monster Summoned by this effect as though it was Summoned by its own effect.
My Comment: This card is awesome. It completes the cycle from where SPN can come from. Very nice card and well balanced.
If this monster destroys a monster by battle, you can discard 1 card to add one "Sacred Phoenix" monster from your Deck to your hand. If this card is destroyed by a card effect, Special Summon it during your next Standby Phase and draw 1 card.
My Comment: Strange. I would normally think Oped, but that isn’t the case for this card. It’s quite balanced and has very useful effects.
If this card is destroyed by a card effect controlled by your opponent, Special Summon it during your next Sandby Phase.
My Comment: Great defense set-up! Weak enough so that Cyber Dragon can ram over it, but effective enough that it can only be destroyed (permanently) by battle! Love it!
My Comment: Great card. Strong like Cyber Dragon, destructive like Mobius, and well balanced. A very effective card that makes swarming a horrible thing for your opponent, but not too powerful that it completely breaks the card. :D
This monster is treated as a "Sacred Phoenix" monster. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. This card can only be Normal Summoned or Set by tributing 2 “Sacred Phoenix” monsters on your side of the field. If this card is destroyed by a card effect, during the End Phase of the turn it is destroyed, Special Summon this card on your side of the field and destroy 1 card your opponent controls.
My Comment: A powerful help to the Sacred Phoenix. Love it’s revival effect and its strict summoning conditions are not too horrid as to make this card completely unplayable. Not only that but it’s effect totally tramples Starlight Road! Great Card.

My Comment: Good, a type of monster reborn that can be abused with Havas and SPN itself. Amazing support.
Destroy one "Sacred Phoenix" monster on your side of the field and draw 1 card.
My Comment: Simple card and simple effect. Destroy 1, draw 1 and then chain the effect of either Havas to draw 2 cards total, or SPN to wipe out all Spell and Traps on the field.
Select 1 face-up "Sacred Phoenix" monster on your side of the field and 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field. Destroy the selected "Sacred Phoenix" monster on your side of the field, and halve the ATK of the selected monster on your opponent's side of the field.
My comment: Decent card. Almost like Shrink except it halves the ATK despite having equips or other effects and is permanent, making it a set up for a nice kill. Even a 5000 ATK monster will be brought down to it’s knees by Phoenixian Overlord during the next turn. Nice.

Activate only when your opponent declares an attack and selects a "Sacred Phoenix" monster as an attack target. Discard 1 card to negate the attack and destroy that monster. The "Sacred Phoenix" monster targeted by the attack cannot be destroyed by battle until the End Phase of the turn.
My Comment: Decent card. Like sakuretsu and waboku put together except you can still take battle damage. Not bad.
Activate only while you control 1 face-up "Sacred Phoenix" monster. Negate the effect of an opponent's Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster and destroy 1 monster on your side of the field.
My Comment: Good negation. Makes Sacred Phoenix almost unstoppable afterwards because it chains to this card, and doesn’t miss it’s timing at all!! Have SPN face-up on the field, opponent activates a destruction effect, you activate this card, negate that card and destroy SPN, and then resolve SPN’s effect who is now a Spell Speed 3 card and can’t be bottomlessed!!! At least I think that’s how it should work since the chain is still in effect. If not, it’s still an awesome card to play.

This entire set is completely awesome!! I corrected much of the OCG, and the theme looks pretty solid.
Rate: 9.7/10
Now for my question: Can I use this set for an upcoming fan-fic? Plz?!?!?

Thanks for the corrections, I'll implement them now. And sure, you can use it, I feel quite flattered considering this is my first actual attempt at a set. x3

Thanks.

I just searched on Google and Deviantart, some were pretty annoying to find, especially the one I used for The Dark Curse, since I can't even find that one anymore.

Heh, I feel honoured. x3

Alright, lores have been altered and I've changed the image for Phoenixian Sacrifice, and if I think of any more ideas for cards, I'll add them.

I was thinking maybe a Tuner and a Synchro, but the only cards that would be used for Synchro-ing would be the level 4's, or else it would slow the deck down too much, and in my opinion that just ruins the point when you've got a level 4 that's hard to destroy, then all you have to do is summon the tuner for an even better monster. I dunno, that's just what I think on the topic.

Then how about an Exceed Monster that allows you to summon your monsters back from the Grave? Something like:
Once per turn, you can destroy this card to Special Summon 1 "Sacred Phoenix" monster from your Graveyard. That monster is destroyed during your next Standby Phase. If this card is destroyed by a card effect, Special Summon this card during the End Phase of the turn it was destroyed. Gives you swarm abilites, but at a steady pace.

The last three cards are very good. They provide a decent run engine for this set by Speeding up ways to Summon other Phonexian monsters. Nice additions. Also, about Exceed Monsters:

Thanks for the Exceed Monsters link, makes more sense now, doubt I'll be making any in the near future though. As for the overall effects of these cards... do they seem a bit too much or something? I mean none of them are really destroyed outside of battle, and almost any card results in a net gain... so I'm not entirely sure on whether they're slightly OP or not...

Probably because all the good ideas are gone. I was kinda going for a whole "Part of a set, but not a main part" anyway, all the monsters are there that need to be, now, they're kinda like a bonus to the set. Think Blackwing, or Naturia. Those are pretty good examples of sets that simply have too many cards for them to all be effective.
