Tentacruel
It's bad enough when you troll and offend one group of people, but two at once? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQYNg0xIM9g&feature=player_embedded Discuss this, as well as people taking stuff too far in general. ~ P O L A R I S ~
I'm pretty sure it's meant ONLY to make fun of Christians and not Japanese people.
Catterjune
That video is INCREDIBLY old. And no, I didn't think the UCLA girl was all that bad.
Tentacruel
Well Pika, most people did, and I'm fairly sure this is worse. (Since it talks about the tsunami it can't be more than a month old, and it hasn't been brought up on YCM yet.) Purposely attacking one group at the expense of another isn't exactly all that sensitive. And Polaris, of course it wasn't directed AT the nation of Japan, but it was still fairly insensitive to them.
Mehmani
She is abiding entirely by what is in the Bible. She is embracing the values of the Christian holy book. You cannot say she is wrong without saying that the Bible is wrong. You can't pick and choose what passages to call "theological truth" and "literal truth". There are genuinely large numbers of people out there who are steadfast about this. She is a troll. But the most terrifying thing about this is that apart from the title, this is no different from real religious hate videos. She exaggerates just as much as they do. She is a zealous as they are. You can't tell she is a troll because she is using religion in a way that it is used by a huge number of people.
Dark
> opening the eyes of atheists Implying that atheists aren't already more open-minded than this girl, and implying that somehow, Christianity (or Catholocism, as if it matters) is better and more valuable than atheism. > the god of the Bible If someone would ever come up to me and tell me that they think atheism is an incorrect form of belief, and that believing in a god, regardless of religious attachment, is good, I would have a large amount of respect for them. Sadly, because people are so affiliated with religious groups and love to gain converts as if it were some mad race, no one will ever tell me that. Now saying I would magically start believing in a god because of statements like that, but at least they'd gain my respect instead of me looking down on them like I do towards most of the radical religious community. > am so overjoyed Does that mean the Bible is saying that killing a ton of Japanese families for the sake of converting the entire country is... is a good thing? What happened to thou shalt not kill? Is God too goddamn (no pun intended) ignorant and retarded to follow his own rules he set for roughly one-third of the curent population? I know not a super-large amount of people died in Japan, but the nuclear crisis is bound to affect generations of Japanese families living near the plants. Are Christian people "overjoyed" that others are dying? Also, what if a Christian Japanese person (so few of them anyways, but whatever) died in the earthquake? Do they get a free ride to hell, or is it reserved for white people only? > turn these atheists away from their evil ways I sense a large amount of irony here, but because some people on this forum consider my comments to be "mean" and "bashing religion", I will completely ignore half of the things I was about to say. Also, what happened to France being the country with the highest atheist percentage in Europe? I know Japan isn't in Europe, but can't French have a natural disaster? I love my fellow atheists, don't get me wrong, but I hate France. God should totally do something about that. I will get on my knees and pray right now. We'll see if something happens. > once he hits America TERRORIST! YOUR GOD IS A FREAKING TERRORIST. STOP THE PLANES, STOP EVERY TRAIN IN THE NATION, WE MUST BE ON HIGH ALERT. THERE IS A GOLDEN BALLSAC OF MYSTICAL WRATH THAT WILL HIT AMERICA WITH A LARGE NATURAL DISASTER. THIS IS TERRIBLE, I SAY! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! I'm legitimately scared right now. > every person will know that God is real Implying that if a god was real, it is surely the God of the Bible. Implying that one can actually know that a being that cannot be proven is real. Implying that you can actually reconvert people like me. Also, if people are really praying for atheists to open their eyes... why haven't I yet? I mean, I'm not that afraid of hell (I heard there was free beer and free lions), but it's a bit too hot for my Bostonian taste. I think Christians should pray super-hard for Dark. Please. [s]I heard that in heaven, you get to have free sex with angels![/s] SHE IS EITHER A MORON OR A REALLY GOOD TROLL... Tentacruel
Holy crap Dark, is this random Youtube video really worth that long of an analysis? The only really sad thing about this b**** is that everyone on the Youtube vid actually thought she was serious. Obvious troll is obvious. Saying she's wrong is saying her interpretation of the Bible is wrong.
But surely the only way to interpret the Bible is how it is actually written? What gives you the right to pick and choose between metaphors and literalism? If it truly is the word of God then it should be read and interpreted exactly how He wrote it? You can interpret anything from any piece of text if you try hard enough. Using a combination of metaphors, theology and literalism, I can turn Genesis into evidence that the Universe is the result of my father having a stomach hernia.
