[/quote] For Ritua Shellfish, it says by a card effect. Activating Exceed Monsters effects usually have the Materials removed from them as a cost to activate their effects, so Ritual Shellfish would not work in this manner. It's an okay card, it's Attack stat is fine but it's effect will hardly ever see play unless you're trying to get it to go off...which you shouldn't because it's not worth it.
