Almighty Father Odin - Lord of the Nordic Gods

Recommended Posts

On May 4th, I read about the Nordic Gods on internet, and thought that I will make a card based on the Allfather, Odin (his real name is Oden). So here are the result

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Tributing 5 LIGHT monsters you control. This cards Summon cannot be negated. This card is unaffected by your opponent's card effects. When this card battles, this cards ATK become the ATK of the battled monsters ATK + 500. If your opponent activates a card effect, gain Life Points equal to the number of cards in your opponent's hand x 200. You can Tribute this card to inflict 4000 damage to your opponent. That effect damage cannot be negated. During each of your End Phases, discard 1 card. If you do not, you take 800 damage. When this card is removed from the field, Special Summon 1 Level 8 or higher LIGHT monster from your hand, Deck or Graveyard, ignoring the Summoning condition. The Special Summoned monster cannot attack.

CnC Appreciated.

P.S: I know it's OPed, but still, Odin is the most powerful God of them all, I mean he would beat all Greek Gods all by himself so, that's why it's OPed. But I tried to balance it as much as I could without add drawbacks.

On the concept of the card, I immediately think of the card that already EXISTS: Polar God Sacred Emperor Odin (aka Odin, Father of the Aesir).

This is ridiculously OPed.

Summoning Condition...is actually the most balanced aspect of the card, but immediately makes me think of Synchro Odin instead.

-Can't negate the Summon. Well, all right. Obelisk has that effect too.

- Unaffected by card effects. Whoa...only Vennominaga is immune to EVERYTHING, and even she has some crippling weaknesses.

- Will gain ATK of monster it battles + 500...so it can't be defeated in battle. Now I'm thinking of Sleeping Giant Thud.

- Opponent activating effects replenishes your LP. That's just unnecessary.

- Can Tribute this to deal 4000 damage, which cannot be negated. Well, at least you can still use things like Life Stream Dragon, Rainbow Life, and Barrel Behind the Door, as well as other effects that "make the damage 0".

- Take 800 damage if you don't discard a card each End Phase. That's...a really weak attempt to add a drawback. You're gaining LP every time your opponent activates effects.

- When it leaves the field, Special Summon pretty much any high level LIGHT that you have access to. It ignores Summoning Conditions and it's worded like a mandatory effect, so using its "Tribute to deal 4000" wont make it miss the timing. And look, you can Summon another Odin and Tribute that to deal 4000, because you can ignore Summoning Conditions from the Deck...*squints* Oh wait, this is a Divine.

Even so, it's OPed beyond what any realistic card should be allowed to do. An instant 4000 burn is just wrong. When Temporal Machine God Sandaion was revealed to have that effect in the anime, it was deemed total BS, even by the standards of the Temporal Machine Gods.

I think it's worse: The burn effect is probably supposed to not be affected by other cards at all, looking at the wording.

This card is WAY to OP'd even for Odin. I mean it is impossible for your opponent remove him from the field. Then if you remove him from the field you could get another awesome LIGHT monster onto the field. Plus with the 4000 damage effect you could pretty much wipe your opponent out in 1 turn if you play it right.
