Return them to your Graveyard, and draw 1 card. Activate only if you control a face-up Psychic-Type monster. Select 1 monster your opponent controls, and remove it from play. During the next Standby Phase, the removed monster returns to the opponent's side of the field, in the same battle position. Saw these in the GENF list while building Psycho Exceed. I like Future, but why doesn't Image Special Summon? Discuss.
darkwolf777
but why doesn't Image Special Summon?
Because it is only a temporary removal. Cards like Interdimensional Matter Transporter, Dimension Hole, and D.D. Sprite temporarily remove cards monsters the field. Temporary card removals from the field still remember who controls it (not sure if anything else is applied atm, Control is the only thing I can think of offhand). If control of the card were to have changed because of a card effect, it would remember who is supposed to control it when it comes back. For example, your opponent plays Mind Control to take over 1 monster you control. After the control is switched, you activate "Past Image" to remove it from play. During the End Phase, Mind Control's effects would have worn off. During the next Standby Phase, the monster would be returned to the opponent's side of the field, and will immediately be returned to you (since Mind Control is no longer in Effect).
While I thank you for the explanation, I meant why Konami didn't make the card Special Summon the removed monster, given that many of the new RFP Psychics activate when Special Summoned.
Past Image removes your opponent's monster from play. Would you really want to help your opponent gain the effects of his/her Remove from Play Psychics? I'm not sure how that would help you in your RFP Psychics as if it were Special Summoned to your opponent's side of the field, they would get the effect.
