I come from a racial minority, my family can barely afford to pay for anything and I gotta work for what I want. I don't want to take the easy way out of poverty by doing something illegal like being a smuggler/dealer, I want to get out of poverty by doing something legit. @Wang Fire: Fake ones are generally more openly violent and get into random fights for "respect", are likely illiterate, write on walls, sell drugs for money, the best description they can give you of the book Clifford would have something to do with tl;dr, etc. Real ones are members of organized crime rings such as the Mafia. They make money through black market trade, "protection"/extortion, and avoid arrests through bribery. The main difference is that Real gangsters are actually at least partly respectable because of their efficiency and brutality, while fake ones are just the garbage society hasn't thrown out yet. The Mafia isn't the only gang in the world. There are gangs in every city, ones that aren't nationwide. I know a few local ones, and I know many who are in them. They are gangsters, they may not be a part of the mafia, but they are most definitely gangsters. I know one who died, and another good friend of mine used to be deep in the gang life. So much so that he called me one night crying, drinking bourbon, saying he was sitting in his living room with an assault rifle and a pistol telling me that rival gang members were going to gun him down. Ended up that they never came, but he did end up in a gun fight with them later in the crack area of town. No one was killed, but he was shaken up over it. Point is, just because the style is baggy, that doesn't mean they're trying to be wannabe gangsters. Even if they do, they really could be. You're so dumb, it's unbelievable. Sure, maybe it makes more profit than a regular "Legit" job, but it's because it's 3 times as dangerous, 3 times as hard, and takes 3 times the work. It's not easy, and it's not safe. Some people don't have a decent choice about this stuff, and I don't think you fully understand how it all works. It's not like an easy "Get the product, make the switch, get paid, repeat" thing. A deal can go bad, you have turf raiders who attempt to steal the product and kill the dealers. The buyer could be a snitch. So many different things to take into account. On topic: Yeah, it's a pretty crazy world, but let's not forget the oppression many people who are in that situation have faced either directly because of the disparity between social classes or the historical injustices that have constrained them to their current conditions. Before you go for the, "But look at this guy who endured similar situations but rose to become a contributing member of society", consider the fact that not everyone is equal and that hard work can't change everything. I really like to think that maybe if people worked hard enough to provide everyone with an equal, truly equal chance at becoming successful in life by legal means, then maybe there won't be so many of these punks in the world. Two of them I know of were held back a year (or more or they were expelled. I never saw them after 8th grade.) I laugh at gangsters and gangster wannabes as I look at my two college degrees. I remember this one white kid who challenged my blackness because I don't act like a gangster. These kids are stupid. My area isn't known for crime at all, and they act like my area is the ghetto. The most threatening person in the area I live is the white guy mowing his lawn on a Saturday. These kids today should pull up their pants and do some homework. [/quote] i wish i was there to help, i could definatly help peoploe with drug issues (weed burner myself and volenteers at teen care for pregnant teens and drug addicts) but not being able to be there physically is a big deal, hopefully she can find some help from people who do not judge her right away just because of drugs i hope and wish for the best of her recovery Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

[/quote] usually people do not seek professional help because they believe they cannot be helped and it is to late for them. Which seems almost true, but those guys know what they're doing.
