evilfusion
So lately I've been playing this deck. A LOT. And all this testing has taught me that this deck is amazingly fun and formidable, but it's lacking something that'll really speed it up. At the moment, it follows a fairly defensive style, and aims for backrow destruction before bringing out a Polar God to force the opponent to turtle instead. Monsters: 20 [3] Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts [3] Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts [3] Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts [1] Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant [1] Glow-Up Bulb [3] Super-Nimble Mega Hamster [2] Ryko, Lightsworn Beast [1] Sangan [2] Caius the Shadow Monarch [1] Morphing Jar Spells: 10 [1] Mind Control [1] Book of Moon [2] Mystical Space Typhoon [3] Pot of Avarice [1] Dark Hole [1] Monster Reborn [1] Giant Trunade Traps: 10 [1] Mirror Force [1] Torrential Tribute [1] Call of the Haunted [3] Gleipnir, the Fetters of Fenrir [1] Solemn Judgment [2] Bottomless Trap Hole [1] Solemn Warning Extra Deck: 15 [2] Thor, Lord of the Aesir [1] T.G. Hyper Librarian [1] Colossal Fighter [1] Odin, Father of the Aesir [1] Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier [1] Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier [1] Stardust Dragon [1] Scrap Dragon [1] Mist Wurm [2] Black Rose Dragon [1] Ancient Fairy Dragon [1] Ancient Sacred Wyvern [1] Armory Arm Previously, I had Catastor and Chimeratech Fortress in the Extra Deck, but 5 is a very very rare number, and Fortress isn't really needed much, if ever. I added Fairy Dragon and Wyvern, the former because Field Spells are annoying and I needed a 7 other than Rose, and the latter because Guldfaxe is LIGHT, my most common Tuner, and level 7 is absurdly easy to form. It's there if I need it.

evilfusion
Mara wins games and if used for Trishula becomes +0.
I'm hoping you're joking. Mara is terrible. Mara is a level 2 Tuner, and the other materials must be exactly 2 Nordics from my hand. It is useless unless I'm holding 2 Nordic non-Tuners, and as you can see, all my Nordic non-Tuners are level 3. The best I can do with Mara is level 8, not 9, and my current style of readying a Synchro Summon tends to involve Tanngjnostr, which gives actual pluses by deck searching. So I can either run Garmr and Ljosalf in addition to Mara to try to use Trish, or I can pass on Mara. I'm going to pass on Mara.
byak
3 Vanadis is terrible.
evilfusion
Could I have an alternative to the third Vanadis, instead of just the criticism? It'd help more.
Greiga
MaraMara. It works much better in actual duels than in your head. Or maybe a Valkyrie for more level 8.
evilfusion
But I already told you: 1) My only Nordic non-Tuners are the Tanns, which are level 3, so at most, Mara will bring me Stardust or Scrap. I don't need a Tuner whose only purpose would be to bring out Stardust or Scrap. I could Guldfaxe and Nimble for that. 2) Mara is useless as a Tuner because I rarely use Loki, which is the only perk to running a mediocre Alfar Tuner. And its effect is not an option. It's a condition. I MUST use 2 Nordics from the hand. Now, I considered Valkyrie, and then teching Return (to compensate for Tuner removal or people's tendency to remove the Polar Gods to eliminate them), but I've been liking the way the deck's been working, and there are currently better, more consistent options. At the moment, I made this change - 1 Vanadis + Solemn Warning So far, Warning's tested amazingly.
Cody Frost
This deck is pretty solid. I would probably side 2 Valkyries, maybe a second Warning while it's still not limited. And then some other sides like Cyber Dragon, etc., to make your deck adjustable to other Decks. The problem I see with siding Cybers (which isn't much of a problem actually) is that your Extra Deck is very solid, maybe even the Cyber Dragons aren't needed. byak
sub the second Vanadis for Glow-Up Bulb.
evilfusion
Because I primarily use the deck on Dueling Network and YVD, I don't really use a Side Deck beyond "Cards that COULD go into the deck, and will be considered first if cards start testing badly". The deck is pretty solid and plays pretty well. Its worst matchups are against Samurai and X-Sabers, but almost anything else is fair competition. byak
Your worst matchup should be Monarchs :S
evilfusion
sub the second Vanadis for Glow-Up Bulb.
Hit another Vanadis? Glow-Up seems like an odd choice, though. Removing another Vanadis would limit my availability to Odin, which can and has won games innumerable times, and also limit my availability of some of the level 7 Synchros to using only Guldfaxe as the Tuner. Glow-Up doesn't have much to contribute to the deck.
Your worst matchup should be Monarchs :S
Probably, but I rarely have that matchup. Experience has shown Sabers and Samurai to swarm too quickly and have highly disruptive effects. They can be beaten, but it's extremely difficult compared to the basic matchups. byak
You're playing 3 Gleipnir already. Just use Gleipnir to search for the 1 Vanadis when you really need it. For Samurais, just make Black Rose with protection to stop their push. You should then still have your normal summon to be prepared for Grandmaster comebacks. Also Bulb makes Armory Arm and Hyper Librarian. Hamster + Bulb is Colossal Armory Arm.
I usually use Gleipnir to search Tanngnjostr or Guldfaxe, the latter when they have a Synchro out. I -DO- make Black Rose. It's easier said than done, especially if they went first. They usually have Warning or similar. None of which I have in my Extra Deck. Adding Bulb would force me to revamp my entire Extra Deck for limited gain. Granted, Loki isnt needed at all, and one Vanadis would give me a reason to remove an Odin, and I suppose I could take out Gottoms as well...hmm... Wait, how is Hamster + Bulb a Colossal and an Armory? Keeping in mind that Hamster Sets the monster it Summons.
byak
Hamster search Tanngnjostr. Draw, flip Tanngnjostr, search for Guldfaxe. Summon Glow-Up Bulb, sync with Tanngnjostr for Armory. Sync Guldfaxe and Hamster for Colossal. However, if they had a monster viable for the OTK it would run over Hamster :\
evilfusion
I tend to use Hamster to search Tanngrisnir or Ryko and use a Tannjnostr from the hand, but it's good to know the ideal level comboes. Maybe I'll test Bulb for a few games, see what I can get/lose from the change. Any other ideas/suggestions?
byak
I've tried a Junk + Doppel engine in here, it was pretty cool since you could go Librarian, get tokens, and use the tokens with the Tanngnjostr you dropped last turn for Trishula.
evilfusion
I think I'll take a pass on that idea. That's going to get too cloggy and lose a great deal of synergy. Hamster searching Ryko, dyng, and SSing Tann is a Trishula already.
evilfusion
Okay, so I was testing these changes: - 1 Vanadis +1 Glow-Up -1 Loki -1 Odin -1 Gottoms +1 Armory Arm +1 Hyper Librarian +1 Colossal Okay, it took forever for me to actually DRAW Glow-Up, and only once did I wish I could search a Vanadis that I didnt have, but my last two duels, Glow-Up has proved itself to be awesome purely because it's a level 1 Plant Tuner. Have yet to use Armory/Hyper/Colossal, but I haven't missed "2nd Odin/Gottoms/Loki" so I can't complain.
