Majora's Nightmare

To all at YCM

Although this card was inspired by pop culture (to be precise The Legend of Zelda series) I have been informed that it could still be a candidate for pop-culture too, as it does not specifically target any other Zelda cards and therefore is able to fit seamlessly into the game itself as a realistic card. Not only this, but the theme of the card itself "Majora's Nightmare" does not EVER feature in any of the Zelda games and is merely speculation on the part of Zelda fans.

It is for those reasons that I have posted this card here, however a mod tells me to remove it I will graciously do so. I would appreciate any form of constructive criticism/ideas/queries as I am trying to improve as a card maker and I need your input to do so.

Thank you, here is the card:

As long as you control this face-up card, flip your Graveyard face-down. Pay 50 x every card in your Graveyard during your Standby Phase, if you do not, destroy this card. During your Draw Phase, instead of drawing from your Deck, you can send 2 cards from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard to shuffle your Graveyard and draw 1 card from it.

I've seen a lot of cards here with pictures from games.

It's an interesting card, but I would consider adding you need to have a minimum amount of monsters in your Graveyard to activate this card, to prevent abusing cards like Sangan, Goblin Zombie,...

I have been wrestling with the idea that this is most likely Pop Culture and I have looked at the agrgument from both sides. If you check my original post you can see my arguments for putting this in the Realistic Cards section, however in short they are this:

-This could easily fit into a real life deck.
-This card is based on a facet of a game which doesn't exist. (Majora's Nightmare is simply fan speculation)

As I said though before I just want to get this card some exposure in order to hone my skills.

Disregarding wether you thought that this was Pop Culture or Realistic what did you think of it?

I thought about that but with every time you use this card, your Graveyard grows larger, your will have to pay more Life Points and with each time you use the effect the chance of getting such abusable cards will become less and less. However you may be spot on with your analysis so I will leave it as it is until I see what other users have to say.

Thanks for the review it was helpful.

Well I think there needs to be an OCG Fix, but this card is so unique I can't fix it myself...

Here is my attempt (don't use it untill it is clarified)

As long as you control this face-up card, flip your Graveyard face-down. During you Stand-By Phase, pay Life Points equal to the number of cars in your Graveyard x100. If not, destroy this card. During your Draw Phase, instead of drawing from your Deck, you can send 2 cards from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard, then shuffle your Graveyard and draw 1 card from it.

I don't see it being used much because if you keep it on the field for a while you could be paying unholy amounts of Life Points. It doesn't protect your Grave from cards like Monster Reborn and this way you could lose strong cards without even knowing it. However, this card is very original and seeing as you aren't forced into paying it can't be that reckless. Overall I think that it is a decent card, but I couldn't give it more than a 7/10.

Admittedly it is a very risky card, but in times of need I do believe risks would need to be taken.

You pointed a number a number of things about the card:

"It doesn't protect your Grave from cards like Monster Reborn" - This card has nothing to do with Monster Reborn. On a general note you are never protected from monster reborn anyway and I didn't want this card to have anything to do with Monster Reborn

"This way you could lose strong cards without even knowing it" - This card is slightly risky so you may have to risk losing a strong card to fish a powerful card from yoru graveyard.

Thanks for the feedback, as I have said before I will see what everyone else has to say before I start looking at revising it.

too much LP pay to keep it on very long

I would have made it like 50 per card instead to last it longer
I was toying with that idea but I thought at the time that 100 may be fairer. However I feel that you may be correct and I probably will change it to 50

Meh, I'm not sure I'd actually use something like this for two reasons

a) There's a very expensive cost that grows each turn and would make it impossible to play in later turns without sacrificing a LOT of life points

b ) You're still only getting one card, and if you're using it early in the duel when it'd be most effective then you would more than likely recieve a card that you would have gotten anyway by drawing normally. It may actually go well with cards that skip your standby phase though, but I would probably only use it once and in comparison I'd rather use a different card that doesn't burn my deck and my life points simultaneously.

That said though, it's a cool looking card and a very unique idea.

Thanks that was helpful. Be mindful of the fact that you DONT have to use the effect but you do have to pay the life points per turn. However I am going to reduce it from 100 to 50 do you think that would make it fairer?

It would definitely make it actually usable and more intriguing since more options open up with the reduced cost which is a lot more realistic. I also did notice that you could use the card once and not have to pay anything, which is why I stated earlier that that's how I'd probably use it if I did decide to.

It's got a convulsion of nature element within it, but it runs deeper than that I feel.

in all honesty, how long DO you expect this card to last on the field?
