Dr. Cakey
I was at the Regionals in Seattle last Saturday. It was my first tournament ever. Let me repeat that: my first tournament ever. I've never even been to locals. Yes. Seriously. I was running Gravekeeper's...but with a twist. NO Solemn Warning. NO Pot of Duality. NO Royal Tribute. Not even Thunder Kings for the side. Not everyone can be a master. Round 1: Vs. Sams Not only was I up against Sams, but my opponent was like 12. My deck and my pride were doomed. Game 1: Augh Barkion I'm doooooooooomed!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding...I have one of these in the main deck (and two more in the side). Reborning Barkion netted me gaem. Game 2: Opened with Necrovalley, got hit with...Spell Vanishing??? The good news was that meant he was topdecking for the rest of the game. By the end we were topdecking @ one another. Then I won. Result: 2-0 (OMG I'M SO BADASS) Round 2: Vs. Dragunities I think he drew badly, and my CEDs totally disrupted his plays. He only managed to sync once, and then I compulsed his Vajrayana. Result: 2-0 (WINNING) Round 3: Vs. Heroes I scored some early leads and managed to disrupt a number of his plays (it helped, I think, that his TKRO didn't affect me at all). His Super Poly actually worked, what with Commandant being EARTH and all. Gemini Spark was effective as well. Result: 1-2 (D:) Round 4: Vs. Debris-Plants Genuinely Plants, seeing as he had a copy of Tytannial. He is the only person I saw who used a Solemn Warning. He had a better deck, he was a better player, and I drew poorly in the final game. Result: 1-2 (iirc) Round 5: Vs. Equipment Cat...I mean, I got a bye Round 6: Vs. X-Sabers Apparently, all the cool kids ran X-Sabers because nobody sided against them. Fair enough. Let's just say...Faultroll wins gaemz. So does Scrap Dragon. Result: 0-2 (CURSE YOU SUPERMAN) Round 7: Vs. Me Dropping Out I had an annoying [s]excuse[/s] headache, and my parents had dropped by because...they do that, so I decided I was too cool for that tournament and rode off into the sunset. Wrapping Up: From the 5 EXVC boosters, I got some decent pulls. Life Stream Dragon in all its badassery, along with T.G. Power Gladiator and Recipro LOLcopter. Got a bunch of Resonator stuff, which is nice, because I love Resonators. Some Psychic stuff, including a Feel Zone and an Esper Girl (kawai!!!). A little bit of Karakuri business. Almost all of the [s]Meklord[/s] Imperial Machine support cards, but no [s]Meklords[/s] Imperial Machines. Got a Necro Defender, which is nice, I guess. Basically all of this was ruined, however, because I had to hold a Scrap Kong in my hands. Oh, also, I got a playset of Tyrant's Tantrums. Yes, three of 'em. ihop
The Sam guy was clearly terrible to lose to someone playing Reborn in GK. Do you know what Decks won in the end?
Dr. Cakey
The Sam guy was clearly terrible to lose to someone playing Reborn in GK. Because everyone all the time has Necrovalley out especially when they have no Dualities for searching. Reborn has never been a dead draw. Do you know what Decks won in the end?
[s]Six Sams[/s] [s]Debris[/s] [s]Gladiator Beasts[/s] [s]Equipment Cat[/s] No idea. If I were to take a stab in the dark, I'd guess X-Sabers, but I didn't stick around. Seattle's three hours behind my time, you know...
