Stan Alda
I'm a stubborn soul. Most people that have followed me for more than 10 minutes know my disdain for things like the new OCG, Synchros, and those newfangled Xyz thingies. Why, you ask? You see, I learned almost everything I know about Duel Monsters by playing The Eternal Duelist Soul and Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel, first with my GBA and later on a ROM emulator. They date back to 2002 and 2003, respectively, 5 years before Synchro Monsters were introduced. Instead of complex Effect monsters, tons of (heavens!) Normal Monsters were a key killing force in most in-game decks. But a large majority of such monsters with an ATK or DEF above 1500 and below 2000 required some sort of Tribute. Machine-types were particularly troublesome, the most notorious example being "Shapesnatch". I decided to bring them back into the spotlight with a short-and-sweet Field Spell. And after working on all those Dissolvers and my new top-secret-hush-hush-on-the-QT-I'd-tell-you-but-I'd-have-to-kill-you set, it feels amazing to make a nice, simple spell card. Hot-Rolling Mill SPELL/Field Both players can Normal Summon Level 6 or lower Machine-type Normal Monsters with less than 2000 ATK or DEF without Tribute. byak
It doesn't make Shapesnatch playable.
Stan Alda
It doesn't make Shapesnatch playable.
If you meant summonable without tribute, then yes it does. Shapesnatch is a Level 5 Normal Machine-Type monster with less than 2000 ATK or DEF. That fits the requirements. If you meant useful...that's your call.
MibeR
Why just Machine, and not all? Get rid of Def of course
DARKPLANT RISING
"Remember Machine-Type vanillas? They're useful now." The moment I saw these words of unqualified inanity and inexplicable terror, I was forced to gouge out my eyeballs and hack off my nose and cover my ears with concrete in order to prevent the deathly trollishness from invading my fragile mentality. What flew through my head in the faintest memories were the visions of my friend showing me the Advanced Ritual Art, Demise, and Black Salvo cards in his hand, making me groan and scoop. At locals the same occurred, and I was blast to smithereens by explosions of the Dark Strike Fighter’s broken burn abilities. As I yelped and covered my head with my hands, the humanoid automaton released a blinding light that blew apart the store and destroyed half of Tokyo City. It was without doubt all because of the dreaded Mechanicalchaser, which, at least in my vague and fading mind, seemed a Machine-Type Vanilla. Well, let’s just assume you’re one of those countless innocent kids who believe Summoned Skull is a very good card. Because you wouldn’t want to know the truth of this game. Now onto the card itself you made for us here. Well, “Both players can Normal Summon Level 6 or lower Machine-type Normal Monsters with less than 2000 ATK or DEF without Tribute.” …No, you joking? Seriously. These days, normal monsters themselves generally have a tendency of sucking, with the exception of several – namely abovementioned Mechanicalchaser, the abusable Mystical Shine Ball, and...um...well, maybe there are others, but I’m a bit too sleepy to remember. Remind me if there are others. Well, and with Gene-Warped Warwolf there, this just plain sucks. Why would I still run Shapesnatch outside its Turbo? I would make it like this. “Hot-Rolling Mill” Field Spell Upon activation, Special Summon up to 2 Level 6 or 5 Machine-Type Normal Monsters from your hand. Then, draw the same number of cards. The original ATK of all Level 6 or 5 Machine-Type Normal Monsters on the field is treated as 2600. Now THAT’s what we’re talking about.
ragnarok1945
assuming your opponent has a machine monster to summon it's nothing really too new Cost down seems slightly better though 7/

I'm hesitant to change it because you provided a wildly different (albeit much better) effect, so I don't think it's really my card anymore. It's like a book written by a ghostwriter: I had the idea and made a pretty cover, but someone else did the writing. I appreciate the criticism, though. I'll consider this a defeat and work harder next time (I probably spent more time on the pic than the text).
