The World's Smallest Nuclear Armageddon

Stan Alda

Recommended Posts

Earlier this year, I made a very small set based around summoning a nuclear missile in a method similar to "Great Moth" and rendering up to 3 Monster Zones useless. It worked well enough, but I had bigger plans. I intended this missile to initiate a "nuclear winter" that would allow the players to summon radioactive mutant versions of various classic monsters.

I finally got to working on it about a week ago. Originally, I was going to use wimps like "Celtic Guardian" and "Takriminos", but after the slamming of my (in retrospect) UP'd "Hot-Rolling Mill", I'm turning up the heat with monsters in the 2000-odd ATK/DEF range, all Vanillas...till now, that is. First, we need to get the missile going. (And yes, I've gotten flak for using spoilers, but I think it streamlines the post and makes it easier to read. So there.)

Your opponent cannot use the destroyed monster's Monster Zone. SPELL/Field
This card can only be activated by the effect of "'Neutron Warhead". This card cannot be negated or destroyed by Spell, Trap, or monster effects. As long as this card is on the field, decrease the ATK and DEF of all non-Machine, Fiend, Zombie, or Rock monsters, except "Radioactive Mutant"s, on the field by 750 and decrease the ATK and DEF of all Machine, Fiend, or Rock-type monsters on the field by 500. Both players can Normal Summon 1 "Radioactive Mutant" monster during their respective Main Phases.

Now that that's all done, it's time for the good part. The "Radioactive Mutant" monsters are almost identical to each other in effect, and they're statistically identical to their non-mutant forms. This is their effect:

This monster cannot be Normal Summoned or Set unless "Endless Nuclear Winter" is on the field. This card can only be Special Summoned by its own effect. This card is also treated as a Zombie-Type monster, and as a LIGHT and DARK monster [unless they're already LIGHT or DARK, then it's just "and as a LIGHT/DARK monster]. This monster can be used as a Fusion Material Monster for a monster that requires "[normal version of this monster]". If a Fusion Monster is summoned in this way, it is treated as a "Radioactive Mutant" Dissolver monster. If this monster is sent to the Graveyard by a Spell, Trap, or monster effect, or as a result of battle, you can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard during your next Main Phase.

When this monster is targeted by a Dissolver Effect, place 1 Spell Counter on this card and decrease its DEF by 200. If this card has 5 Spell Counters on it and is targeted by a Dissolver Effect, destroy this card. This monster is unaffected by "Endless Nuclear Winter". When this monster declares an attack against a "Radioactive Mutant" monster, increase this monster's ATK by 500. If this monster destroys a "Radioactive Mutant" monster in battle, remove the destroyed monster from play and calculate damage as normal.

Nice set you got here, dude. Nice concept, too. One thing, though, shouldn't "Centrifuge of Enrichment" be a Union card, since it equips to "U-235"?
Not really. I just copied and pasted the effect of "Cocoon of Evolution", and it's not a Union monster. Thanks anyway.

Ah, "Cocoon of Evolution". I remember that one. I think one of my friends has a "Great Moth"/Insect deck.

I was bored, so I made a Booster for it.

And before you lynch me, I made the title as an homage to Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb. So there.

I dont have much time online so to make sure that I get as much stuff as possible of my post out it will come in some smaller posts. Please do not think this is spamming. First I love the set. This is the weirdest idea that Ive seen in a while. Plus it has potential. I think you should make more mutant monsters.

1, i'm sure recycling card images isn't what is really gone for in creating a unique deck
2. "dissolver" is not a real type, in which case these cards should not be put in the realistic section
3. the lore doesn't really make sense for your dissolver monsters. it should read:
This monster cannot be Normal Summoned or Set unless "Endless Nuclear Winter" is face up on the field. This card can only be Special Summoned by its own effect. This card is also treated as a Zombie-Type monster. This monster is treated as a LIGHT and DARK monster. This monster can be used as a Fusion Material Monster for a monster that requires "[normal version of this monster]". If a Fusion Monster is summoned using this card, it is treated as a "Radioactive Mutant" Dissolver monster. If this monster is sent to the Graveyard by a Spell, Trap, or monster effect, or as a result of battle, you can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard during your next Main Phase 1.

1...you got me on that one.
2. I should explain. The Dissolver subtype is one that I made. http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/250671-the-dissolver-subtype/page__fromsearch__1
3. Thanks for the OCG fix.

I know adding a card to a finished set is against the rules, but this is too good an idea to pass up. I made another Union monster for the ICBM--"Neutron Warhead". Instead of the ICBM automatically activating "Endless Nuclear Winter", it will only activate ENW when it is equipped with this card. The idea was to set up a few separate strategies for this set--either use a straight, single-zone attack (no union), knock out 3 monster zones (MIRV Upgrade), or set up the Endless Nuclear Winter/Radioactive Mutant strategy (Neutron Warhead).
