staticrevenger
Hello everyone. I'm in the process of making making a card template for all to use, the aim of which is to provide a more realistic result than the current card maker provides. Here's the current version of the template on the left, and a card using the card maker for comparison on the right. I'd love to hear any criticisms you may have before I finalize the template and post it. Credit for the card image goes to HP Doom. Laskeri - Unmei no Senshi
The name looks too embossed, and the name box's light and parts are a little too large, but other than that, it looks good.
staticrevenger
Helpful criticism, thank you. Added a new version with the suggested changes. The text had a slight bevel to make it feel more intended into the card rather than printed, and in my opinion it was a nice touch. Any more opinions on that matter? .Rai
You know, it looks quite similar to HP Doom's own template Instead of using a bevel on the text, the way to imitate real text is to add a white Inner Shadow at about -70 degrees onto the text. I'm assuming you have a CS version of Photoshop here. Otherwise, never mind. If not, you could try making a white version of the text and nudging it slightly to the bottom-right of the original text. Place it under.
staticrevenger
With the white inner shadow, do you use it on the multiply layer setting? And I wasn't aware HP Doom had a custom template, i was under the impression he only did images
.Rai
Nornal setting, about 70% opacity. I think I have his images on how he does it: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/840/20100823174953.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/841/20100823175021.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/411/20100823175042.png/
staticrevenger
That's pretty much the effect I was shooting for, thank you for showing that to me and kudos to HP Doom.
