I'm not a fan of MMOs, I'm really not.
World of Warcraft never appealed to me, and those free to play stuff... no thanks.

However, the name of this game alone intrigues me like nothing else. If we're talking Otherworld, we're talking the "real" Otherworld, Tad f****** Williams' Otherworld, one of the most imaginative books ever to be printed.
And, to be honest, this looks pretty damn ambitious:

So... can this be the next competitor to good ol' WoW, or is this just another MMO that will inevitebly bite the dust sooner or later? How well will they translate this immense and awesome world in a so limited medium that gaming still is? Did somebody here even read Otherworld and gives a crap? :D

2012 is gonna be the year of MMO's

This looks fun but they have some VERY big guns coming up. Star Wars: TOR is coming soon and that is expected to hit a few million by the year out. I'm not too excited for it because I'm a huge fan of the next biggest up comer, Guild Wars 2. I love how they push the boundaries with skill based combat instead of hotkey based and... wait for it... NO QUESTS! They get rid of the quest mechanic and instead have instanced random events that effect people in the area. Past that you have The Secret World, an MMO about underground societies. Tera, a skill based MMO with a political system. Theres no way to know what will launch and what won't but if this thing is to survive it needs to be different and push the boundries.

MMOs have been struck in recent years because everything is a WoW clone, hot keys, quests, level ups but everyone is coming out the woodwork now. I like the trailer, I want to see some gameplay but odds are against it beating these newcomers. Besides, we don't need a WoW kller. Blizzard is doing that for us. (7 years and finally an appearance lock option! I love Blizzard to death but they are hanging themselves, Diablo III real money auction house? Mass nerfs? SC 2 seems the only thing there not breaking and thats because the Koreans won;t let them.

Secret World has a lot of potential but they need A LOT of new mechanics. A theme isn;t gonna cut it, they need PvP with open worlds and information mechanics and territorial areas. They can not just go Quest -> Quest -> Quest -> Mission -> Quest. Especially with all these new MMOs
