If the spiritual incarnate of discord takes over the land of Equestria: We get chocolate rain, persona-swapped ponies, and floating houses. Cruelty only in context. But if the three tribes of ponies cause their own discord: Dark, malevolent spirits that feed on pain and suffering descend upon the unsuspecting foals and attempt to murder them in unending winter. Huh.... Why is Ponyville located next to Death Valley: home to various dragon lairs, cosmic bear caves, oversized-parasitic gnats, swamp-dwelling hydras, quarry eels, body-manipulating plants, etc.? What's next to torture these poor ponies? Unstoppable purple ooze? A centaur-like Baphomet wielding the Rainbow of Darkness? A cloud demon who wants to absorb shadows to become stronger? A malevolent lava demon? An evil ram necromancer who wants to drag ponies into the Shadow World? Squid monsters? Oh wait, they did face those guys. A long time ago, in a land far, far away.
