Because you may never know what the future has in hold for us. Hey, for all we know, the Zombie virus may as well be human made in the future. Bioterrorism is scary s*** man.

To be honest, I don't doubt such virus already exists. But, unlike in the movies/games, the owners of such viruses are not stupid enough to release them.

I assume they'd be the slow kind, in which case it SHOULD be really easy to take a regular sized boat to a small island until I can get a ride that can take me over seas.

You assume that humans are the only ones that will be affected by - not to mention can spread - the infection. That mosquito bite on your neck? Sorry, you'll be having brains for dinner tomorrow.

It further proves my fungus theory.

An assumption does not equal proof.

But your assumption, being on the same level of likelihood as the fungus theory, implies a large chance that it's obviously true anyway.

Anyway, we're talking about a zombie apocalypse here, it's not as if it matters anyway.

It's called an apocalypse because it's the end of the world. The only possible way you could survive is if you locked yourself in an airtight cellar with loads of tanks of preemptively stored oxygen, and enough food and clean water to last you quite a long time, and waited until the zombies starved to death, after there's no other food left.

I think the main reason we always come back to this question would probably be because
we are all curious to see if we've improved our common knowledge of survival, humanity and maturity
regardless of it being so very repetitive

and yeah a zombie world is the least likely thing to ever happen to us, but those who answered with a variation of "use a shotgun" would probably hit the bucket first

we have no idea how it happened or what these "zombies" are really capable of
what is the disease does not make distinct physical differences and transmitted through simple touch or moisture?
instead of receiving less oxygen in their body systems they receive more and they are faster and stronger than any human alive, especially because they do not have a mental limit when brain dead. They could be benching a tow truck, damage their muscles and not even care or notice. its still be coming at you regardless.

probably those who think through all possible out comes carefully not only prove their chance of survival, but they prove they are well coordinated, elaborate and mature in real life situations, regardless of a situation extreme or mild. Even in unpredictability they can keep cool heads, compared to the ones "going commando." they'll most likely end up looking like the bi-polar solider Hicks from aliens.

a simple way to put it, zombies aren't really about zombies at all. Its all about us, and how we deal with bull s*** everyday. how long it takes for us to crack, how rational we are, how moral we are.

My plan:
JOIN.
THE.
DARK.
SIDE.

Basically, if there ever was a Zombie Apocolypse for whatever reason: Fungi, vampires, viruses: All survivors would be edgy. Some may join with other to survive and watch each others back. Others will go solo.
But whatever the case....
It all depends on the zombie.
If it's those half-dead "braaaaaaiiinnnnnsss" things, most will be able to tell the difference between human and zombie. However, if theres a possibility of zombies, there a possibility of ones who look like humans. As such, all survivors would kill everyone in their sights, in fear of whether or not they were a zombie.
As such, we'd all be on the dark side, in a way.

But, if this ever happens, it'll be in many years. We'd SHOULD be safe-ish.
