Chaos Dralcax
Physics is fun. Proof: Yesterday, at recess, I got a soccer ball, and placed a rock on top of it. I held it with both hands, and prepared to drop it. Then this kid, Bryan, who was playing with the soccer ball just before I had it, ran at me to get the soccer ball and was like, "Hey, [my real name], can I have that?", and he startled me, and I accidentally dropped it.
Now, you know that soccer balls bounce. As you drop a soccer ball, the gravitational potential energy is converted to kinetic energy, but, unlike, say, a bowling ball, which expends most of the energy during the fall, soccer balls save some of the energy, and use it to bounce back up. But if an object, a Ping-pong ball works best, but a rock in this case, is balanced on top of the ball prior to dropping it, the energy used to bounce back is instead transferred to the rock, and that flies into the air instead, and the soccer ball does not bounce.
The rock shot up like 10 feet into the air, and landed in Bryan's hoodie. He then proceeded to say:
Oh, [s-word], what the [h-word]?!?!?!
And of course I laughed for the rest of the day. Later, on the bus, we learned that he saw the rock, but didn't see what it was and thought it was a bug. (Probably a madagascar hissing cockroach, judging by the size of the rock)
