Sentience

Very good topic idea, if I may say so myself.
So to get this discussion really flowing let me state some opinions and ask a question.
First, humans will never truly die out we have all the genetic abilities we need to mutate and adopt to our environment so even if in the future we may look different, we will still be related to humans.
Second, if we learn to control our ignorance as a species, we have the ability to live for a very long time.
For example, not persecuting innocent races because they seem weaker, or because we don't agree with their religion for allowing them to take our land.
Third, Why no aliens?

I say, based on the media, machines are the most possible outcome. Since we make them more intelligent to make life more convenient, eventually they will develop a conscience of their own and start building copies of themselves to overthrow the human race.
...and if anyone says 'the Matrix' I will burn your soul with Darkfire. :3

I wonder if one day, Robots will be truly sentient. Installed with feelings, emotions and such.
Maybe they can co-exist peacefully with us, and we can go extinct peacefully while they live on.

Nope.

Robots could become infinitely complex, but could never have true emotions, just simulations of them.

Anyway, the reason animals are usually considered non-sentient is that humans are A LOT more advanced than most other animals. So in a way, our perception of sentience is relative.
